who wants to run a poll? we are in need for a new poll.

i was thinking about bumping Smashing Pumpkins for my next poll but because i ran Talking Heads this year i will wait and open that Mega one around Feb of 2018. i will probably run "Shoegaze/Dream Pop/Post-rock (Albums and EPs)" since we got a fantastic new Slowdive album this year and it's my next poll on this list.

Bee OK, Thursday, 10 August 2017 03:01 (six years ago) link

would be cool with a Glen Campbell poll

Spottie, Thursday, 10 August 2017 03:04 (six years ago) link

anyone in the mood to run a poll?

i will do Shoegaze albums this year, maybe Oct or Nov.

Bee OK, Wednesday, 16 August 2017 00:19 (six years ago) link

I might be ready for the wu poll...

Spottie, Wednesday, 16 August 2017 03:27 (six years ago) link

I could run Elvis before 1 September

droit au butt (Euler), Wednesday, 16 August 2017 16:38 (six years ago) link

The rare poll where I would, at the very least, make an attempt to relisten to the two Worldwide Hits box sets I got through once and shelved years ago. I would, before I die, like to be able to say I'm a bigger fan of Elvis's music than I am of Elvis, the Guy Who Changed the World. Who I'm a very big fan of. They're not quite inseparable.

clemenza, Wednesday, 16 August 2017 17:16 (six years ago) link

I would love an Elvis poll

Any interest in a Drexciya + Side Projects poll?

Frederik B, Monday, 11 September 2017 10:13 (six years ago) link

Asked this in the band thread but...

Have we not done a T Rex poll?!?

Naive Teen Idol, Tuesday, 19 September 2017 00:11 (six years ago) link

we have not, do you want me to put you on with the next update? i do own around five albums, so i'm in.

Bee OK, Tuesday, 19 September 2017 00:46 (six years ago) link

Drexciya has side projects? I've got to catch up.

clemenza, Tuesday, 19 September 2017 01:34 (six years ago) link

I would do the poll mostly to learn - so if nobody else participates it's not a good idea - but yeah, seemingly Drexciya had a ton of side projects, and I would include them all. A lot of them relate to the Drexciya mythos in some ways. Dopplereffekt, Arpanet, The Other People Place, Transllusion, Shifted Phases, Abstract Thoughts, Lab Rat XL. And more.

Frederik B, Tuesday, 19 September 2017 10:45 (six years ago) link

Kidding--I've never heard of Drexciya. (But then I'd never heard of Manuel Göttsching, either, until three or four years ago.)

clemenza, Tuesday, 19 September 2017 12:57 (six years ago) link

Lol, ok :) But I seriously don't know enough about Drexciya to tell what is jokes and what is not. I would run the poll purely out of interest. And if nobody else seems to really have delved into the whole catalogue, then it's probably limited how useful a poll would be. Don't put me on yet, Bee OK :)

Frederik B, Tuesday, 19 September 2017 13:28 (six years ago) link

one month passes...

Curious what the turn out would be a for a Bardo Pond poll?

Potato Wave (Leee), Friday, 27 October 2017 19:29 (six years ago) link

So Wu rollout should be soon (right Spottie?), unless anyone has any objections I'm thinking of getting the Beatles Solo poll going shortly afterwards

Οὖτις, Thursday, 9 November 2017 17:46 (six years ago) link

yeah was going to start yesterday but got sent to Houston on a last minute biz trip.will be back over the weekend and will start monday. feel free to fire up another one though.

I canceled this one a long time ago, but you can leave it there open for anyone who'd like to run it.

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 14 December 2017 03:41 (six years ago) link

Yes!

I would like to do a poll of pre-1900 recordings. In, say, three weeks time.

mfktz (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Saturday, 10 February 2018 22:31 (six years ago) link

Never done one before so may need some help, or maybe can figure it out myself.

mfktz (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Saturday, 10 February 2018 22:32 (six years ago) link

I can give you a link to a Google spreadsheet that I’ve used in the past if you want it

nate woolls, Sunday, 11 February 2018 17:39 (six years ago) link

Does anybody want to do something now? With all due respect, Pre 1900 seems like it would get 10 ballots max. Maybe I'm wrong.

Well just to explain my reasoning, I've been making mixes for these years over here and there are full packs of mp3s ready to download, so maybe could get a little over 10 ballots. Then could do 1900s next year, then 1910s, 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s - think 60s onwards has been done enough.

mfktz (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Monday, 12 February 2018 08:15 (six years ago) link

There was a great 50's poll a few years back but we should definitely do the rest.

kornrulez6969, Tuesday, 20 February 2018 03:41 (six years ago) link

i'm a bit sour on polls at the moment after Joy Division. if anyone wants to take over and run any polls i have signed up for you are more than welcome. i'm sure i will do a poll again, just nothing in the near future.
