is it possible to deactivate an account without twitter deleting your shit? (twitter say they only start to delete after 30 days but this guy's testimonial says they deleting his entire following list & other shit after day 1)

what were the verification policies before? i guess it's to verify that the account is the real person and not a faker, but why are there so many non-public figures with them

It is “this person is who they claim to be”. So initially for celebs, it quickly expanded to journalists with high self-regard, conference speakers, Nazis, etc
