hmmm sounds like wembley arena, one of my v. least favourite venues

yeah i agree w/ you abt Black Boned Angel vs. BCM, but I still enjoyed BCM, and it's always gd to see Richard Youngs

i hope we can finally meet up at this one, jed (since I've moved to Glasgow, quite a lot of ppl have said "you look like John Peel" to me, fwiw)

Ward Fowler (Ward Fowler), Sunday, 7 January 2007 23:00 (seventeen years ago) link

I saw the OO there once, and it was good, but my flatmate saw the Pixies and the stage fell off, so that wasn't as good. Hard to tell. Dylan would probably be good, if I liked him, which I don't.

I don't think Jed looks like John Peel.

KeefW (kmw), Sunday, 7 January 2007 23:02 (seventeen years ago) link

Sorry, the you in that sentence refers to me ('ward fowler', or Andrew L) not Jed

Ward Fowler (Ward Fowler), Sunday, 7 January 2007 23:10 (seventeen years ago) link

Ah... Sorry, carry on.

KeefW (kmw), Sunday, 7 January 2007 23:17 (seventeen years ago) link

Sorry about that... Bad joke and something to do with Blackadder.

three weeks pass...
Reading some of this thread for research purposes, or something, I note that Gareth said he was trying Glasgow more last August. Did that happen? Also, Stew was meant to be bringing Kim Fowley to the pub. Did that happen as well?

When are we going to the pub?

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 4 February 2007 08:38 (seventeen years ago) link

Mono?

bumping because this is fast in nulix

and also because there are now chuggers in Byres Road, the bastards. I see they had to import London staff though.

.stet., Thursday, 1 March 2007 17:50 (seventeen years ago) link

i didnt try glasgow more last august. i'd like to try it more this year maybe though.

well, ive never tried it before, so maybe i'll just try a little. if thats ok with everyone?

688, Thursday, 1 March 2007 17:54 (seventeen years ago) link

I don't get to try Glasgow this St. Patricks Day weekend. Stupid dogs, not able to take care of themselves for one lousy weekend. Grumble, mutter, complain.

accentmonkey, Thursday, 1 March 2007 18:25 (seventeen years ago) link

Hang on! This thread has gone all sorted in chronological order so that weird timeslip day in 2003/4 when all the posts pretended they were in 2001 for a laugh has arsed this all up. And it now looks like I started this thread to get people to go to the pub and it took three years for someone to reply. And call me an asshopper.

This seems wrong. Make that first post of mine go away, Glasgow-thread-reading mods!

Also, boo to accentmonkey's non-appearance, except I wasn't going to be here anyway, so sort of yay really. Or something.

Gareth, you may indeed try Glasgow more. I don't suppose anyone will mind.

ailsa, Thursday, 1 March 2007 20:06 (seventeen years ago) link

Ailsa, it's because of a short period you might remember where old ILX fucked up and dates went all bananas.

Sorry...

Keith, Thursday, 1 March 2007 20:07 (seventeen years ago) link

Oh yeah, and you just said that!

Keith, Thursday, 1 March 2007 20:08 (seventeen years ago) link

But hey, it loads much faster, doesn't it!

Keith, Thursday, 1 March 2007 20:08 (seventeen years ago) link

weird!

RJG, Thursday, 1 March 2007 20:35 (seventeen years ago) link

And call me an asshopper.

Ha ha, asshopper. Not you, it's just a funny word. Asshopper.

accentmonkey, Thursday, 1 March 2007 20:52 (seventeen years ago) link

can ilx be programmed so that on the 27 june every year all the posts in a thread will appear in random order?

ken c, Friday, 2 March 2007 14:03 (seventeen years ago) link

Also, boo to accentmonkey's non-appearance, except I wasn't going to be here anyway, so sort of yay really. Or something.

Actually, a quick convo with Mister Monkey and the blood moon outside convinced me that it would be pure stupid not to come to Glasgow on Patricks Day and see the brothers. So, all four Byrne siblings will be at Andrew Maxwell's Full Mooners on March 17th. If anyone is coming, give me a yell and we can hook up. Or something.

Keith, Monday, 19 March 2007 23:41 (seventeen years ago) link

Oh, we missed accentmonkey. Aw. Not that I was here.

ailsa, Monday, 19 March 2007 23:43 (seventeen years ago) link

with luck i'll be able to bring australians and new yorkers and brazilians whom i've not yet met to club mook, keith. but whatever happens, i'll be nozzled by the evening, as i think i explained - so coming to edinburgh might be logistically difficult.

is internet legend KEN C still coming to town?

grimly fiendish, Tuesday, 20 March 2007 00:15 (seventeen years ago) link

Me and teh other half were planning a weekend in Edinburgh soon, to use up some hotel vouchers we have come by. I wonder if he'd object to an evening of Keef-music? (answer: almost definitely)

Let's go eat food, Glasgow.

ailsa, Tuesday, 20 March 2007 00:36 (seventeen years ago) link

club mook it is for me as well. Probably without Australians or New Yorkers, but I'll see what can be done on the Brazilian front.

.stet., Tuesday, 20 March 2007 00:36 (seventeen years ago) link

the horror

RJG, Tuesday, 20 March 2007 00:43 (seventeen years ago) link

It won't be just me... Alex will be playing too. With any luck, he will play DJ Rankin. My friend Matthew yesterday sent me a copy of his ZZ Top 20, which I might have to play some of too.

Keith, Tuesday, 20 March 2007 08:47 (seventeen years ago) link

Is Club Mook the same as Keith and Alex's thing? I want to have my birthday stuff in Edinburgh this year.

Madchen, Thursday, 22 March 2007 13:34 (seventeen years ago) link

hello!

i am still planning on coming yes - except i'm really stretching the word "planning" slightly here as I hadn't sorted out anything with trains or planes and that.. i don't think i'll be driving up though (after the France trip last weekend I think Nigel needs to go to services before I trust him to go anywhere far). So I'm 70% certain I'll be there.. only thing that would stop me is if the trains turn out to be MEGA expensive.

Wait: I forgot about MEGA BUS.

Is there anything fun happening on the Friday? I have that day off so will prolly come up then.

ken c, Thursday, 22 March 2007 14:01 (seventeen years ago) link

Friday = NPL, innit.

ailsa, Thursday, 22 March 2007 18:43 (seventeen years ago) link

I've no idea what CLUB MOOK is, but ALEX PARTY is a week on Saturday.

Keith, Thursday, 22 March 2007 18:48 (seventeen years ago) link

NPL = next Friday. Club Mook* = Alex Party = next Saturday.

Ken, be careful thinking you can get back from Edinburgh to Glasgow afterwards. As you may well be aware from my adventures last time you were up, it's a bit tricky.

I'm thinking there's a good chance we might make it for Madchen-birthday-Edinburgh-FAP. I haf vouchers to spend in a hotel so no rushing off back home for me (I'm guessing Keef and Alex have already been inundated with requests for places to crash).

*club night run by mooks, I'm guessing

ailsa, Thursday, 22 March 2007 18:53 (seventeen years ago) link

i've got as far as planning going to edinburgh, but i've no idea how we'll get back to glasgow again :/

isn't there a late-ish bus of some description?

grimly fiendish, Thursday, 22 March 2007 23:00 (seventeen years ago) link

I think we'll be staying in Edinburgh for club mook, then Madchen Birthday FAP on the Sunday.

.stet., Thursday, 22 March 2007 23:15 (seventeen years ago) link

hmmm, right.

grimly fiendish, Thursday, 22 March 2007 23:17 (seventeen years ago) link

OK, hotel-booking plan is scuppered as hotel appears to be full and I don't have enough money to pay for a real hotel that I don't have free vouchers for. Oh well. Enjoy yersels. I might come over for a pint or two anyway.

ailsa, Friday, 23 March 2007 00:39 (seventeen years ago) link

There are buses, like there are the other way, pretty late. I used to do this a lot. 12, 1:30 and 3:30 from memory. The 3:30 is largely to be avoided, if possible, but should be easy, because the bus station is 5-10 minutes from ALEX PARTY.

Keith, Friday, 23 March 2007 01:31 (seventeen years ago) link

Wow, so there are! Cool! (there weren't when I got stuck in backpacker hostel hell last summer)

ailsa, Friday, 23 March 2007 01:36 (seventeen years ago) link

b-b-but what about hotel keith? nae beds, but check out the after party!

byebyepride, Friday, 23 March 2007 01:38 (seventeen years ago) link

I've heard about Keith after parties.

ailsa, Friday, 23 March 2007 01:40 (seventeen years ago) link

Yeah.... Trouble is, the place is a disaster area at the moment as I've been scraping walls and knocking in fireplaces and stuff.

Keith, Friday, 23 March 2007 09:57 (seventeen years ago) link

I heard Keith doesn't have a pot to piss in, so I wouldn't want to impose on his hospitality :)

Madchen, Friday, 23 March 2007 11:24 (seventeen years ago) link

Hurrah, Madchen gets it!

(btw, aren't we supposed to be lunching/dinnering with J & D at some point now that I'm back?)

ailsa, Friday, 23 March 2007 16:59 (seventeen years ago) link

Anyway, here's another blatant plug.

Madchen, Friday, 23 March 2007 17:00 (seventeen years ago) link

i've now booked a megabus!!

are you guys going to NPL on friday night? I think I'll be..

ken c, Wednesday, 28 March 2007 14:07 (seventeen years ago) link

Ooh Ken, will you be there? In that case, I might just!

Madchen, Wednesday, 28 March 2007 15:39 (seventeen years ago) link
