Going back a bit, re the 'college kids' thing. The annoying bit is the old people (or not necessarily old, as the subscribers can be quite young themselves) not realising that slagging off the weakness of younger people these days is a vast, time-worn cliche. Like, you're a human being, this is one of those standard ideas that's going to pop into your head, and as such should be treated w/caution before deciding it's a significantly real social phenomenon

Sadly this didn't come from someone you'd expect it to come from. This is pure fake news tho innit - down to the choice of font and pseudo 'sources'

And then they went back and destroyed every copy of the NYT that contained it.

Still, nice they had a 'Jump for joy' tour. Getting from that roof to that parking lot to have another jumping session...

This one doesn't offend me aside from the bad grammar and how the way it's worded doesn't make sense.

#normieclasswarmemes

it is amazing but true, that 100% of people who express disdain for being normal think they are supranormal rather than subnormal.

For some reason, the caskets of unarmed black men shot to death by police never seem to have a US flag draped over them.

Will defend the poetry and plays and critical essays to the point of losing friends, but I hate the empty praise that gets heaped upon him as a general important figure of significance and importance.

A certain number of people have shared this. Presumably we can infer they've never seen the name 'Deborah' written down?

Never changed username before (cardamon), Sunday, 1 October 2017 01:18 (six years ago) link

a lot of people have named their kids debra because they did not know it was spelled deborah either

assawoman bay (harbl), Sunday, 1 October 2017 01:21 (six years ago) link

xxp: I just looked it up in the social security baby name index, and was surprised to learn that Debra is not the more popular spelling. Debra fell off the top 1000 in the 1990s, but Deborah is still hanging in there, although probably not for much longer.
