mario vs rabbids is exactly charming enough

the ghost of tom, choad (thomp), Friday, 15 September 2017 08:57 (six years ago) link

ha, yeah - it could easily have toppled over into 'lol so random' minions-style larfs but it toes the line perfectly

jamiesummerz, Wednesday, 20 September 2017 15:43 (six years ago) link

Golden Sun vibes imo

.oO (silby), Wednesday, 20 September 2017 15:45 (six years ago) link

is that good or bad

ciderpress, Wednesday, 20 September 2017 15:57 (six years ago) link

I thought golden sun was on the boring side and was only notable for being on handheld

ciderpress, Wednesday, 20 September 2017 15:58 (six years ago) link

I was a teenager when I started Golden Sun and maybe a young adult when I finished it I don't remember but I liked it and this game made me recall Golden Sun fondly, in particular the rhythm of the core combat mechanic of breaking and bursting reminded me of the Djinn system of unleashing and summoning. I bet this game is reminiscent of things that older people or people with different touchstones from the aughts might think of as more noteworthy but yknow I've never actually played a Final Fantasy other than FF Tactics Advance and uh the weird cartoony one for DS.

.oO (silby), Wednesday, 20 September 2017 17:00 (six years ago) link

ah ok. visually this is very much trying to be FF6 but 2.5d-ized. I haven't seen the combat system yet so I can't speak to that

ciderpress, Wednesday, 20 September 2017 17:18 (six years ago) link

i like how it looks but the unskippable text and tiresome first attempts at fighting aren't helping

is picross still fun in 2017

ciderpress, Wednesday, 20 September 2017 19:50 (six years ago) link

picross is fun for eternity

Agree.

Jeff, Wednesday, 20 September 2017 20:33 (six years ago) link

Yep!

Andrew Farrell, Wednesday, 20 September 2017 20:44 (six years ago) link

Nintendo stock is on a good run

calstars, Thursday, 21 September 2017 01:44 (six years ago) link

Thank goodness for that, I sometimes worry Disney will try to buy them.

.oO (silby), Thursday, 21 September 2017 01:57 (six years ago) link

i'm 100% down for switch picross

looks solid! the switch is really turning out to be a way more capable performer than i'd expected

lol the audio sounds so wimpy

just another (diamonddave85), Thursday, 21 September 2017 16:37 (six years ago) link

switch runs a lot of stuff at 900p or adaptive resolution which lets it cheat on its specs a bit

ciderpress, Thursday, 21 September 2017 17:25 (six years ago) link

Octopath Traveller demo is gooood (if you read faster than the voice acting)

you are juror number 144 and we will excuse you (Sufjan Grafton), Thursday, 21 September 2017 17:58 (six years ago) link

Golf Story on Thursday

thos beads (jamescobo), Tuesday, 26 September 2017 01:52 (six years ago) link

its weird no one seems to have seen or played it yet, pretty much no information released in advance other than the trailer

ciderpress, Tuesday, 26 September 2017 02:01 (six years ago) link

Golf Story is legit, Earthbound meets GBA Mario Golf. Might be the most Aussie game ever? Crikey!

( X '____' )/ (zappi), Thursday, 28 September 2017 17:58 (six years ago) link

yeah relieved to hear it's good. will grab it this weekend along with picross

ciderpress, Thursday, 28 September 2017 18:07 (six years ago) link

oooh hoooo. so tempted by golf story

Nhex, Thursday, 28 September 2017 19:21 (six years ago) link

Getting both now

i believe that (s)he is sincere (forksclovetofu), Thursday, 28 September 2017 20:06 (six years ago) link

have also heard good things from multiple sources about steamworld dig 2 so that's in my queue as well

ciderpress, Friday, 29 September 2017 14:11 (six years ago) link

I assumed it was a Terraria type game but apparently it's more like a metroidvania

ciderpress, Friday, 29 September 2017 14:12 (six years ago) link

the first steamworld dig was a real pleasant surprise, might give the sequel a shot

i've only played about 45 minutes or golf story but it's a lot of fun so far - v charming

Mr. Eulon Mask, urging the UN to ban the "homicide robot" (bizarro gazzara), Friday, 29 September 2017 14:16 (six years ago) link

what am i missing about golf story? i can't find it on amazon or on the gamespot website. am i spelling something wrong or

Mordy, Friday, 29 September 2017 14:18 (six years ago) link

it's only in the switch eshop

ciderpress, Friday, 29 September 2017 14:19 (six years ago) link

ah ok good to know

Mordy, Friday, 29 September 2017 14:20 (six years ago) link

putting is bothering me on golf story but earthbound comparison is correct

Chocolate-covered gummy bears? Not ruling those lil' guys out. (ulysses), Friday, 29 September 2017 15:19 (six years ago) link

Oh my god, there's gonna be a Steamworld Dig sequel! I love the first one so much, it might be one of my favorite platformers ever! I've been wishing for a sequel since the second I finished the first one (only flaw was that it seemed too short, imo)

Dan I., Friday, 29 September 2017 17:54 (six years ago) link

Such an awesome feeling of progression as you gain additional powerups in that game. By the end you are effortlessly bouncing around the mines, practically flying

Dan I., Friday, 29 September 2017 17:55 (six years ago) link

xp it's already out, on PC and switch at least

ciderpress, Friday, 29 September 2017 17:57 (six years ago) link

yeah, going to get that one. golf story does not appeal.

you are juror number 144 and we will excuse you (Sufjan Grafton), Friday, 29 September 2017 18:11 (six years ago) link

ordered mine! and zelda and a screen protector. did not get splatoon for some reason.

El Tomboto, Friday, 29 September 2017 19:02 (six years ago) link

Splat2n is def not for everyone unlike Zelda/mario but it's a pretty much perfect realization of its concept

ciderpress, Friday, 29 September 2017 19:14 (six years ago) link

I've been playing without a screen protector. I want to see the marks I leave in a lynel fueled rage.

you are juror number 144 and we will excuse you (Sufjan Grafton), Friday, 29 September 2017 19:16 (six years ago) link

As soon as I saw they were in stock on Amazon I loaded all the answers on this thread and ctrl-F’d for the answers to my accessories question. I didn’t get an SD card though because we have those just lying all around the house

El Tomboto, Friday, 29 September 2017 22:10 (six years ago) link

welcome tombot

hate screen protectors, i'm living on the edge

Nhex, Sunday, 1 October 2017 01:27 (six years ago) link

Screen protectors are a sign of a sick society.
