new snoop album is fun but boring

explain

its, like, eclectic and weird and kind of daring like the title suggests but by the end of the record you're like 'is this all there is??'

its got some joints dont get me wrong

I can see that

pretty much all i've been listening to hip hop wise is the rhymefest/MJ mixtape. he's so ingratiating and cool and awesome. charming as fuck.

It is pretty damn good. Much better than his actual album.

Fat Joe Ain’t No Joke…

Take it from me Fat Joe is not someone to be fucked with on some street shit. Son does not play that bullshit. I was hanging with the Terror Squad several years ago in Miami back when the East coast vs. West coast beef was at its height, 1996. Back then there used to be a major record industry convention in south Florida called “How Can I Be Down?” Everyone that wanted a piece of the rap music pie was in South Beach, from established artists to has-beens to never-was. People came from every shithole in the country to try to get a deal or whatever. From Flint to Port Arthur to Compton to Atlanta and Newark.

Being in Miami with Fat Joe is like being in the Bronx with Fat Joe. Son is the mayor of Miami. Everyone knew dude, which was rather disturbing because even the grandmothers knew Fat Joe. Keep in mind that a Puerto Rican grandmother in Miami is in her mid-thirties anyhoo. Joe was a celebrity on the streets and a target for anyone who had some hate for the Terror Squad and the East coast. Sure enough some dude from the Westside who just came home from jail didn’t like Fat Joe’s celebrity status. Right on Collins Blvd. it was about to go down something serious.

Fat Joe stood his ground right there with that bruiser and no one made a move to shoot anyone even though there were several guns in the circle. Basically, no one backed down from the confrontation. And no one interceded on Fat Joe’s behalf either. This is why I call Fat Joe one of the most hardbody rappers in the game right now. Your favorite rapper would have had his weedcarriers make noise for him, but Fat Joe didn’t leave the big boy stuff to his subordinates. I don’t sleep on Papoose either because I see that son has a slick mouth when he gets inside the sound booth. If any of you listened to the joint he just shot at Uncle Murda then you would agree with me that Murda’s career is basically over with.

The overall beef between Fat Joe and Fifty is peculiar to me since neither of these dudes has ever tried to be the King of New York. I wonder what exactly they are beefing over since they deal with two separate constituencies. Fat Joe enjoys Miami too much just like Fifty enjoys L.A. These dudes are arguing over their surrogate home. Like it or not, and I’m sure neither of them really likes it, but Jay-Z is still the King Kong camel of New York. NaS remains the prince of the city while Papoose and Uncle Murda are simply feudal lords. Literally, and figuratively. Just to set the record straight which I’m sure that Fat Joe has already done, no one is lumping this dude up for free. I don’t doubt that Fat Joe will get into scraps, but I seriously doubt that his opponent won’t be getting the worse end of the bargain.
