C&D is used mainly for the first-form passive, right? I don't really understand that character.

Einstein, Bazinga, Sitar (abanana), Monday, 2 October 2017 19:08 (six years ago) link

Producing black to feed another plus then attack tiles passively is nice. Yellow blast hits hard enough plus cleans enemy junk. Plus you can cheaply switch to the other, start true healing with yellow gen if you need it. The black that knocks an enemy’s powers down is weird and I’ve never used it. Weird char def but effective, especially as a support char who can hold its own on damage cheaply

droit au butt (Euler), Monday, 2 October 2017 19:14 (six years ago) link

purp can do some serious dmg too

Mordy, Monday, 2 October 2017 19:21 (six years ago) link

like while boosted you're getting 4000dmg for 3 purple

Mordy, Monday, 2 October 2017 19:21 (six years ago) link

I've been mostly using C&D in this PvE to fuel C4rol's black and yellow; basically there's always a ton of black on the board due to C&D's passive, which gets me to C4rol's black quicker, which I can then usually hit with C4rol's yellow for an instanuke that also buffs any attack tiles that are out from C&D's passive. If things get dicey, I use the cheap purple to switch C&D's stance for some decent damage and then C&D true heals while I hoover up any leftover black on the board to throw down more of C4rol's black to get some strikes on the board.

I've been running C&D 4/5/4 and it's been great. C&D black has only really been useful on nodes that are way overscaled for me and I want to minimize someone's incoming nuke; prioritizing C4rol means I usually have killed that character before it can hurt me.

Rogue is a perfect counter to C4rol, which is super satisfying from a lore perspective.

yay FINALLY have a 14th Medusa cover

Marcus Hiles Remains Steadfast About Planting Trees.jpg (DJP), Thursday, 5 October 2017 21:08 (six years ago) link

i just champed her (these days i champ when i hit 13 covers, don't wait for the 14th), excited to use her more!

i also have a profx at level 250, 5/3/4, and i just got another of his first cover... so now he's the only hearted character in the 4s and i've got 8 days left. c'mon, RND gods!

flippy bard (Will M.), Thursday, 5 October 2017 21:18 (six years ago) link

oh fuck yeah, i just hit the purple profx i needed out of that anniversary box!

flippy bard (Will M.), Thursday, 5 October 2017 21:51 (six years ago) link

aaaaand i just hit my 13th bl4de on a leg pull (was 5/5/2, i gave up hope). everything's coming up willhouse!

flippy bard (Will M.), Thursday, 5 October 2017 21:59 (six years ago) link

Blade and Medusa are aces

Running C4rol + Loki + Daken in Combined Arms is highlarious

droit au butt (Euler), Thursday, 5 October 2017 22:40 (six years ago) link

Ooh that’s a good combo.

I just saw someone complaining on the D3Go forums that they couldn't beat Squirrel Girl with a lvl 282 Devil Dinosaur

Maybe it's just me but I really don't think the problem there is with DD

Marcus Hiles Remains Steadfast About Planting Trees.jpg (DJP), Friday, 6 October 2017 16:14 (six years ago) link

lol

Nhex, Friday, 6 October 2017 16:18 (six years ago) link

I guess more accurately the complaint was he couldn't steamroll Squirrel Girl with a champed DD

I still stand by my post

Marcus Hiles Remains Steadfast About Planting Trees.jpg (DJP), Friday, 6 October 2017 19:26 (six years ago) link

btw if you have Jean/SWitch/Cyk3 available to you Apocalypse is very, very easy

Marcus Hiles Remains Steadfast About Planting Trees.jpg (DJP), Friday, 6 October 2017 20:00 (six years ago) link

another great team for apocalypse is c4rol/coulson/c&d

Mordy, Friday, 6 October 2017 21:02 (six years ago) link

champed vulture today. excited to use him.

Mordy, Friday, 6 October 2017 21:02 (six years ago) link

True. I like going with the mutant theme, though (I know technically SWitch isn't a mutant anymore but in my mind she still counts)

Marcus Hiles Remains Steadfast About Planting Trees.jpg (DJP), Friday, 6 October 2017 21:05 (six years ago) link

welp somebody plunked down $100

i don't have that fancy stuff lol. getting it done with switch/GSBW/Quicksilver. so far so good :)

Larry Elleison (rogermexico.), Saturday, 7 October 2017 07:51 (six years ago) link

I loved this boss event. I also love my newly-champed Medusa, holy shit

Marcus Hiles Remains Steadfast About Planting Trees.jpg (DJP), Monday, 9 October 2017 16:03 (six years ago) link

Also while I'm happy the have grabbed two 5* Gambit covers, did they both have to be black?

Marcus Hiles Remains Steadfast About Planting Trees.jpg (DJP), Monday, 9 October 2017 16:18 (six years ago) link

I got one Gambit 5 star cover.

Medusa is so awesome. The Bl4de / Medusa / C4rol combo is my main SHIELD sim combo.

In this PVE Silver Surfer is buffed so I have a 450 SS there! I wish the progression 4 star weren't another champ cover, though my X-23 is now like 282?

My 3 star Black Panther is getting close to 266, guess I rebuild him after that?

My G4mora is at 252 now, will champ here (with two extra covers) in the next couple of days. Then maybe C4ge? Or 4Rocket and Groot.

droit au butt (Euler), Monday, 9 October 2017 16:58 (six years ago) link

i gotta get a gambit 5*. i used to not care but now that you need them to max out pve...

Mordy, Monday, 9 October 2017 17:02 (six years ago) link

also if u guys like blade/medusa/carol then u gotta try gamora/grocket/medusa which is so fast

Mordy, Monday, 9 October 2017 17:02 (six years ago) link

I need more Grocket covers

Marcus Hiles Remains Steadfast About Planting Trees.jpg (DJP), Monday, 9 October 2017 17:36 (six years ago) link

I am very annoyed that I had Kingpin, XPool, Nova, Agent Venom, and Kingpin all lined up at 13 covers during the anniversary event when ISO was literally falling out of the sky and the only 14th cover that came in for me was... Kingpin.

OTOH I champed Devil Dinosaur so now I all need are a bunch of Howard covers and I can delete my account satisfied with a job well done.

Marcus Hiles Remains Steadfast About Planting Trees.jpg (DJP), Tuesday, 17 October 2017 18:09 (six years ago) link

lol

I sold at least 5 Devil Dino covers, I'm not gonna champ him anytime soon.

I did champ 4 star Gamora and 4 star Luke Cage during the anniversary.

Now I gotta trudge through leveling a few 2 stars I neglected during those pushes, and then I'll turn to 4 star Rocket and Groot, even without a 14th cover.

I also drew my 12th Phoenix cover, but I guess you're not supposed to level 5 stars unless you want to have to use your 5 star in every PVP. That sounds awful.

These articles would be so much more valuable if the person imparting the information didn't keep making glaring mistakes about characters and mechanics in the game. That being said, FINALLY NIGHTCRAWLER WOO

Marcus Hiles Remains Steadfast About Planting Trees.jpg (DJP), Wednesday, 18 October 2017 19:55 (six years ago) link

There is speculation that is blue power is an AOE, which would be cool

Marcus Hiles Remains Steadfast About Planting Trees.jpg (DJP), Wednesday, 18 October 2017 19:58 (six years ago) link

does he bamf away a bunch of attack tiles

mh, Wednesday, 18 October 2017 21:09 (six years ago) link

He bamfs himself airborne when hit with an AOE attack and can flood the board with its most dominant color

Apparently if purple is the dominant color, the game is effectively over because he can BAMF his way into infinite purple collection.

Marcus Hiles Remains Steadfast About Planting Trees.jpg (DJP), Thursday, 19 October 2017 16:06 (six years ago) link

it's kinda boring but also kinda hilarious

Larry Elleison (rogermexico.), Friday, 20 October 2017 00:32 (six years ago) link

I have been ignoring Black Bolt because I only have 1 green cover for him. That has repeatedly saved my ass on his required node, though; I may throw him at more troublesome goon nodes more often now.

Marcus Hiles Remains Steadfast About Planting Trees.jpg (DJP), Sunday, 22 October 2017 21:12 (six years ago) link

the damage on it isn't so great when he's unboosted. i still use it, it's decent with strike tiles out.

Einstein, Bazinga, Sitar (abanana), Monday, 23 October 2017 05:50 (six years ago) link

TBH it isn't even the damage that's impressing me (although I'm not complaining about a 6K AOE from a character with one cover), it's being able to completely reset a board that goons have flooded with strike tiles that I can't easily match away. Yes, the AP drain is annoying but that's better than having a stupid Maggia Muscle hit me with a Tommy Gun while 5 overpowered strike tiles are on the board. (Obv Gwenpool would help there too by killing the strikes but I still might eat the AOE.)

Any thoughts on 5* Thor? On paper he looks like a killing machine (a 13+K AOE???)

Marcus Hiles Remains Steadfast About Planting Trees.jpg (DJP), Thursday, 26 October 2017 19:35 (six years ago) link

oh jeez i forgot to ask this thread for the advice i wanted to ask for... i'm approaching 120 CP and i have a couple of candidates sitting at 12 covers 4* that i might champ...

- Quake, currently 5/2/5 (thinking maybe her? she needs just that middle cover, and she's no longer in the vault, seems like a prime candidate to sink 120cp into)
- Coulson, currently 3/5/4 (maybe better? but not vaulted yet, and twice the chance to hit his missing cover)
- Kingpin, 4/3/5 (prob not)
- Riri, 2/5/5 (prob not)

Also some key 11/13 covers I am considering just bc I hear they're so good: Thor4 (2/5/4), Red Hulk (5/3/3), Starlord4 (5/4/2)

i've currently got i think 15ish 4*s champed (some good ones but also including some real, REAL bad ones, because that was when i champed anything that hit 13 covers) - https://mpq.gamependium.com/rosters/Brilliam/

flippy bard (Will M.), Thursday, 26 October 2017 19:56 (six years ago) link

Of those top 4, Riri or Quake. Quake doesn't hit hard but has a ton of board control and the AOE negation is *kisses fingers*. Riri post-rework is a fucking BEAST; her blue hits decently, creates cascades, and generates a ton of red and her red is a literal Mack truck of awesomeness as long as you're facing 1 or 3 opponents. (It loses half its damage with 2 opponents, something to consider if someone like Vulture is airborne.) Her green is situational but having the ability to zap a dangerous character or halt a countdown so you have enough time to gather AP to get rid of it or kill the airborne enemy once they came back down has saved me multiple times. Coulson is also amazing, particularly with C4rol, but as you say you still have a chance to pull his covers at a higher rate.

As a side note, this may be crazy talk but... consider leveling Thano5, OML, and SS to 270, at least. The higher match damage and synergy between those three can help you a lot in PVE (two true healers to recover from Thanos's black, plus OML will drop strikes after any friendly power that doesn't stun him and SS will charge tiles all over the place, increasing your AP collection potential). I currently have SS and Thanos at 375 and OML at 345 (with no red covers!) and I am clearing out the first 3-4 PVE nodes in 1-2 turns.

Marcus Hiles Remains Steadfast About Planting Trees.jpg (DJP), Thursday, 26 October 2017 20:43 (six years ago) link

(Notice I didn't mention Kingpin. He is very annoying to play now and I only champed him because the covers came in.)

Marcus Hiles Remains Steadfast About Planting Trees.jpg (DJP), Thursday, 26 October 2017 20:44 (six years ago) link

i have never used CP to buy covers -- it's always gone into the classic legends pulls. Now that they've put in 5* covers for 250 CP, I might change that.

Einstein, Bazinga, Sitar (abanana), Friday, 27 October 2017 04:41 (six years ago) link

tempting but man that's steep

Nhex, Friday, 27 October 2017 05:04 (six years ago) link

The price for leveling covers directly on a 5* is 720 CP so this seems like an amazing bargain to me that I might someday do.

Marcus Hiles Remains Steadfast About Planting Trees.jpg (DJP), Friday, 27 October 2017 13:43 (six years ago) link

I might buy the last Phoenix cover I need when that comes up

droit au butt (Euler), Friday, 27 October 2017 14:30 (six years ago) link

Classic Legends cost 20 CP and have a 1 in 8 chance of drawing a random 5* cover, meaning a random 5* cover costs 160 CP on average (not subtracting for the average of 7 4* covers you'd also get.) Paying 250 CP for a specific one seems good, especially since you get to avoid the bad 5*s that are in there, like Doc Ock and Bruce Banner.

Einstein, Bazinga, Sitar (abanana), Friday, 27 October 2017 22:26 (six years ago) link

The people talking about using a 0/0/X 5* Gambit in PVE might have a point.

Thanks to the lol that is boosted 5 stars, I stared running 5* Spidey (3/1/4, boosted lvl 398), Spider-Gwen (3/3/4, boosted lvl 251) and 5* Gambit (0/0/3, boosted lvl 345) and I have been stomping all over the Venom event; since Gambit has no active powers, he just sits in the background generating purple for Gwen to flood the board with web tiles and red for Spidey to turn those web tiles into critical tiles, which then pick up 5* match damage and melt the enemy team. Also, Gwen’s purple has a random stun on one enemy and only costs 6 AP, so I’m firing it every third turn even if I actively avoid purple; if I chase it, I can fire it multiple times in a turn and make Spidey into a nightmare.

This wouldn’t work if Gambit had his actives; right now I get 2 red/2 purple each turn but at 5 covers I’d get 3 of each. Add to that the higher baseline match damage he gives you and, while I’d expect to see him eaten alive in PVP, I feel like there are options here to make PVE less Thanos-centric.

Oh, 3* Blade is also boosted so I can swap Gwen out for him and melt faces with attack tiles that are massively discounted due to all the free AP. I also ran Gambit with Thoress in the arena lightning rounds; that was also hilarious.
