The volte face from dunphy and Brady after a win is fucking shameless. Tarts.
― passé aggresif (darraghmac), Monday, 9 October 2017 20:44 (yesterday)
Well said. Dunphy is like a broken record with the Wes worship. There's always a forgotten cult hero cruelly left out in the cold for Dunphy isnt there? Andy Reid, David O'Leary
― Well bissogled trotters (Michael B), Tuesday, 10 October 2017 15:43 (six years ago) link
It just shows up that they don't even back their own criticism, which shows that they know it's worthless.
Got to say I don't watch them anymore. High time the ken early/dunphy feud ended in the replacement of the latter by the former. Brady and Giles wouldn't be long fucking off at that stage I think.

Netherlands going to have some good company at this rate. Ecuador one ahead within a minute.
― Wag1 Shree Rajneesh (ShariVari), Tuesday, 10 October 2017 23:35 (six years ago) link
Netherlands match was a weird spectacle. 7-0 was obviously never going to happen. Robben scoring 2 to win 2-0 was good though. He decided it was his last cap. Gonna miss that guy, what a pro.
If Messi goes down tonight, Ornaldo should go down, too (they snatched Switzerland's ticket tonight... Switzerland won 9 out of 10 and still didn't qualify!) Nothern Ireland to beat Portugal plz.
― Le Bateau Ivre, Tuesday, 10 October 2017 23:41 (six years ago) link
Messi has equalised.
Still playing Benedetto, who has three caps and no goals, ahead of Icardi and Dybala.
― Wag1 Shree Rajneesh (ShariVari), Tuesday, 10 October 2017 23:44 (six years ago) link
What's the deal with Sampaoli not playing Messi and Dybala at the same time? I get they play the same position in theory, but c'mon, find a way, don't leave out one of your best. Managerial suicide.
― Le Bateau Ivre, Tuesday, 10 October 2017 23:47 (six years ago) link
That is his justification - and tbf Dybala has said he is too similar to Messi in the past as well - but Icardi is a straightforwardly great CF and similarly neglected.
― Wag1 Shree Rajneesh (ShariVari), Tuesday, 10 October 2017 23:49 (six years ago) link
Messi is going to do this single handed. 1-2.
― Wag1 Shree Rajneesh (ShariVari), Tuesday, 10 October 2017 23:52 (six years ago) link
'Too similar' is such a bogus argument when they are this good. Same goes for Icardi. If anything a justification for failure would be to throw your arms up and say: hey, I played the best players we had, unfortunately we've drawn 3,000 feet above sea level.
xp oic

Losing seven consecutive games and then fucking up the USA's qualification would make me unbelievably happy but i can't see Trinidad holding on to this lead for long.

Chile still through to play NZ as Peru have conceded. Would be out if they squared it.

Peru equalise! Chile out as it stands.
― Wag1 Shree Rajneesh (ShariVari), Wednesday, 11 October 2017 01:16 (six years ago) link
Panama equaliser just now an absolute shocker, not one part of the ball crosses the line and the forward pushed it toward goal with his hand in any case. Even the corner it came from was incorrectly given.
Mario Kempes is doing the commentary here and thinks it's ridiculous, both coaches just laughing about it.
― Thomas Gabriel Fischer does not endorse (aldo), Wednesday, 11 October 2017 01:16 (six years ago) link
And Honduras equalise against Mexico. I think that puts the USA even out of the playoff place as it stands.

Honduras now winning, which does put USA in the playoffs.
The US will def get at least a point against T&T though.

fuck, i'm just gutted. i've been following this generation of Chilean players since they were teenagers. you could see the magic fizzle out this year, but still didn't think they'd screw up the qualifiers this badly. ugh.

Whoa, scenes. Very harsh on Chile. Especially considering they successfully appealed against Paraguayan Cabrera playing for Bolivia. It earned them a win instead of a 1-1 draw, but it also lead to overturning the Bolivia-Peru result (1-0) into a 0-3 win for Peru. And now Chile are out on goal diff. Dang.

Peru's goal was pretty unique too.
It was an indirect free kick which Guerrero curled in - which obviously shouldn't have stood if it had gone in directly but Ospina got a touch on it trying to make a save which meant it was no longer counted as a direct goal. I don't think i've ever seen that happen before.
If Ospina had let it just fly past him, it wouldn't have counted. Guerrero must have been counting on him trying to save it as he definitely went for goal.
