IF IT WEREN'T FOR CELTIC THERE WOULDN'T EVEN BE SCOTTISH FOOTBALL

imago, Saturday, 14 October 2017 10:46 (six years ago) link

His team doesn't suck. They scored this!

https://youtu.be/1d0WwEqmSR0

Their pitch sucks.

Hey, imago, thanks for dropping by to misinterpret stuff. It's been a while.

ailsa, Saturday, 14 October 2017 11:08 (six years ago) link

p difficult to misinterpret 'bringing nothing to the league'

imago, Saturday, 14 October 2017 11:24 (six years ago) link

Sorry, my bad, they do bring something to the league. The worst pitch in Scottish football.

They bring as much as nearly every other club, which is pretty much nothing. I have nothing against them but there's nothing really there to get particularly bothered about either. That doesn't even come close to "boo I hope they die Celtic are brilliant yay" or whatever. Also said, no offence meant. There's just genuinely nothing there to hate (except their pitch)

ailsa, Saturday, 14 October 2017 11:46 (six years ago) link

One of the most inoffensive teams in Scottish football I would have thought, even if St Mirren have had a pop at them.

Some goal from Moult today to secure the tie.

https://youtu.be/29AHOcObwNQ

Some awful refereeing in both semi finals.

Gerty fu ya bassa (onimo), Monday, 23 October 2017 00:51 (six years ago) link

Yeah Moult’s second was a beauty.

michaellambert, Monday, 23 October 2017 08:48 (six years ago) link

Smashing goal, mostly terrible game (only watched the second half). Yon non-penalty that Hibs got was a joke. Sutton getting right lamped into the standard of refereeing to a bemused Rob McLean was great though.

Why is Rob McLean polluting the BT airwaves anyway? I miss Derek Rae.

ailsa, Monday, 23 October 2017 17:10 (six years ago) link

I thought last night would have been the end of the unbeaten run. Teirney was sensational and Dembele more than justified replacing Griffiths.

Only worry for me is this insistence on trying to make the keeper pass the ball when he plainly can't do it. Between Gordon and Boyata we gave the ball away in our own half too many times to count. I think that's the main reason we struggle in Europe.

Big Sam's big face frightens me. His managerial record of winning next to fuck all in 20 years, not so much.

That said, his profile is such that he might command a slightly higher salary than the 4th best manager in Qatar so probably not gonna happen.

Chunky Backgammon (onimo), Thursday, 26 October 2017 21:33 (six years ago) link

bet your (big) house on McInnes imo.

they don't have the money for your allardyces

i could see mcinnes turning it down

yeah all true. just a feeling, and i'm prob underestimating the lure of greyskull to someone brought up in it

sktsh, Thursday, 26 October 2017 23:04 (six years ago) link

I think he more or less threw his hands up and said "We (i.e. I) can't do anything more" after the Aberdeen-Celtic game the other night.

Terry Micawber (Tom D.), Thursday, 26 October 2017 23:11 (six years ago) link

Prepare to resurrect this quote and mock me in a week or so, but I don't think McInnes would touch it. He knocked back Sunderland to stay at Aberdeen, I can't see him leaving them for another Scottish team. Especially the state of affairs at Ibrox atm.

Alex McLeish joint second-favourite with Billy Davies after McInnes with most bookies, with Graeme Murty just behind them. Rot probably not stopping any time soon.

ailsa, Thursday, 26 October 2017 23:46 (six years ago) link

Nae bother.

Rumour spreading on twitter that Liam Miller is in a hospice with days to live. Can't find a reliable source and I don't remember any reports of an illness.

Chunky Backgammon (onimo), Sunday, 12 November 2017 22:15 (six years ago) link

Tam McManus saying it's not quite that bad...

"Awful news about Liam Miller keep the fingers crossed that he somehow pulls through. Was in the USA for treatment this month and flys back tomorrow to start chemo here. He’s still fighting it. Will say a prayer for him tonight. 🙏🏻 #fuckcancer "

Chunky Backgammon (onimo), Sunday, 12 November 2017 22:30 (six years ago) link

Big Eck currentlly odds on fav for Ibrox. Hard to tell how that will go down with the bears.
I'm fairly confident he could make them a solid second within a year - not sure if that's acceptable to People who have somewhat loftier ambitions.

Chunky Backgammon (onimo), Monday, 20 November 2017 13:46 (six years ago) link

McLeish would be a car-crash imo.

I said it when they sacked him but the Magic Hat, though full of hot air, was probably about as good as they could expect to do in terms of managers.

-_- (jim in vancouver), Monday, 20 November 2017 17:25 (six years ago) link

not to be horribly mean-spirited but whenever I've seen eck mcleish on tv in the last year or so he looks like he enjoys a drink

Close run thing there.

Action of Boyle Man Prompts Visitor to Stay (Tom D.), Wednesday, 29 November 2017 21:39 (six years ago) link

If that was Derek McInnes' way of showing what he can do with a team at Ibrox, he's welcome to the manager's gig.

Saw approximately ten tedious minutes of the first half of our game due to Celtic TV's complete ineptitude, delighted to get away from there with a point.

ailsa, Wednesday, 29 November 2017 22:09 (six years ago) link

Looks like McInnes set up a completely new formation and strategy against the team that lost to Dundee and Hamilton. Anyone paranoid would think he was throwing points to Glasgow before moving there...

Someone remind us to put "concomitant" into the thread title next season:

(also lolz at the "we didnae want him anyway" insinuations all the way through. That'll be why you've been blatantly tapping him up for weeks, aye?)

ailsa, Thursday, 7 December 2017 23:25 (six years ago) link

Was it just me that found it amusing hearing Angry Kris Boyd on Sportsound tonight acting as if there's no way anyone at Rangers had ever had the chance to even informally outline anything to McInnes at any point?

michaellambert, Thursday, 7 December 2017 23:32 (six years ago) link

Boyd making a clown of himself all week (century tbh).

I've somehow ended up in a parallel universe where Adam Rooney is arguing with William Shatner about who has the biggest balls.

sktsh, Sunday, 17 December 2017 13:55 (six years ago) link

Hearts made it a physical battle early on and Celtic shat it.

Our defence has had this in them all season, never imagined Lafferty would be the one to expose it.

There's also some weird thing going on where the pitch is ridiculously slippery but only for Celtic players.
