The Bulls have said Mirotic can’t have surgery to repair his two facial fractures from Bobby Portis’ punch in practice until his concussion symptoms subside. Asked if Mirotic remains in the league’s concussion protocol, Hoiberg said, “I believe he is.”

It seemed telling that Hoiberg said Mirotic has visited the Advocate Center since the Oct. 17 altercation but didn’t talk to the team.

“It was actually off hours,” Hoiberg said.

When Portis publicly apologized Saturday, he said Mirotic hadn’t responded to his calls or texts. Though the team has made clear Mirotic also acted as an aggressor leading up to Portis’ punch, Mirotic remains extremely upset that he’s sidelined four to six weeks.

“It was unfortunate,” said Zach LaVine, who also texted Mirotic with no response. “That’s what happens when two players are battling, I guess. I don’t think either of them was in the wrong. It was just something that happened, an altercation.

“Men are men sometimes. We never should have that happen, but I think we’ve moved past it. Bobby’s in a good spot. We’ve all tried to contact Niko. I think we’ll all be able to move forward.”

nomar, Tuesday, 24 October 2017 19:51 (six years ago) link

lag∞n, Tuesday, 24 October 2017 19:54 (six years ago) link

nomar, Tuesday, 24 October 2017 19:55 (six years ago) link

when all the players are publicly toeing the both were at fault line it makes it seem like mirotic was prob asking for it, he said some shit

Agent to ESPN: Markelle Fultz had fluid drained from shoulder, "literally cannot raise up arms to shoot"

definitely keep running this guy out there every day

reggae mike love (polyphonic), Tuesday, 24 October 2017 20:01 (six years ago) link

seems like maybe he should not be playing

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 24 October 2017 20:02 (six years ago) link

bobbys a nice guy he was just practically contractually bound to break yr face there, no one wanted it to happen

lag∞n, Tuesday, 24 October 2017 20:02 (six years ago) link

shooting is an important part of basketball imo

lag∞n, Tuesday, 24 October 2017 20:02 (six years ago) link

i googled "bad shooting form nba lead to injuries" (no quotes) and the first five results are Fultz stories

nomar, Tuesday, 24 October 2017 20:03 (six years ago) link

I think the agent making public injury excuses for his client shooting like he’s had a lobotomy is not a good sign

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 24 October 2017 20:08 (six years ago) link

I don’t really question the sixers training staff. Embiid was an obvious injury case when they picked him, Simmons injured his foot before training camp right?

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 24 October 2017 20:22 (six years ago) link

This situation is so bonkers. You don’t spend months changing your shooting form to compensate for a shoulder injury unless it’s some massive permanent thing.

Spottie, Tuesday, 24 October 2017 23:00 (six years ago) link

best thing about the the portis/nikko incident is that we dont have to watch either of them play and instead get to watch 30 minutes per game of Markkanen

Spottie, Tuesday, 24 October 2017 23:24 (six years ago) link

Markkanen....

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 24 October 2017 23:28 (six years ago) link

just finished c's/knicks on delay, my god the knicks suck but brown and tatum are amazing, two young hungry long athletic dudes going for blocks and dunks and steals all over the place.

celtics are pretty transformed from last year, much longer and more physical. they're top 10 in defensive reb % so far after finishing #28 last year.

The agent for Philadelphia 76ers guard Markelle Fultz changed his explanation Tuesday night on the treatment the No. 1 overall pick has received on his right shoulder, revising his earlier statement that fluid was drained from it during the preseason.

"He had a cortisone shot on Oct. 5, which means fluid was put into his shoulder -- not taken out," agent Raymond Brothers told ESPN on Tuesday night. "My intention earlier was to let people know that he's been experiencing discomfort. We will continue to work with (Sixers general manager) Bryan Colangelo and the medical staff."

nomar, Wednesday, 25 October 2017 02:32 (six years ago) link

i dunno about you guys but i constantly have fluid entering and exiting my shoulder, its normal

ciderpress, Wednesday, 25 October 2017 02:34 (six years ago) link

"He had a cortisone shot on Oct. 5, which means fluid was put into his shoulder -- not taken out,"

that might be the most insane agent comment in a long line of insane agent comments
