mechanical set shots is how jason kidd is the leading 3 point maker of all time

i dont think tweaking is gonna do it for lonzo, i mean he releases the ball from the wrong side of his head, he actually has decent touch all things considered to be able to make that shot go in at all he cld prob be a good shooter if he moved the ball to the the other side of his head but it wld require a complete tear down something you cant do in the middle of playing competitive ball, and of course the lakers wld never consider it and the media wld go wild if they did decided to send him to the woodshed, but really shdnt teams be doing stuff like that i mean in the long run does it matter if a player plays his 19 y/o season prob not

lag∞n, Thursday, 26 October 2017 18:07 (six years ago) link

he cld also lift some weights and get a hair style

imo it matters if a player plays their 19yo season

Re: Kyrie and his Floor Concerns. The old parquet floor in Boston Garden was notoriously idiosyncratic. The Celtics practiced on it so often they memorized its quirks and failings and this was part of their home court advantage.

embiid simmons et al players who missed their rookie season def looked more developed than if they were coming straight out of college once they did play, and almost exclusively young rookies are bad, prob being in an pro organization learning training and just plain getting older are more important at that age than the experience u acquire by playing poorly, i dont think changes their career trajectory at all to miss a rookie season

xp urban legend debunked by the very larry bird himself + others fwiw

lag∞n, Thursday, 26 October 2017 18:13 (six years ago) link

Larry Bird would never lie about anything that gave him a competitive advantage.

A is for (Aimless), Thursday, 26 October 2017 18:17 (six years ago) link

long after he was done playing

lag∞n, Thursday, 26 October 2017 18:19 (six years ago) link

in fact he said he encouraged the myth while he was playing

lag∞n, Thursday, 26 October 2017 18:20 (six years ago) link

the whole concept behind euro training academies is to work on fundamentals with young players and they really only use competitive games to treat them to some fun, obvs by the time players are 19 theyre playing a lot of competitive ball but imo the concept still applies to nba rookies especially considering youre dealing with the best league in the world where u need to be more advanced in yr skills to play good, the problem with the american system is players come up playing in leagues where the coaches are incentivized to win over teach and thats how u get guys with shots like ball or noah, theyre talented enough to win with them at the lower levels then once they reach the nba theyve got an unfixable liability

lag∞n, Thursday, 26 October 2017 18:20 (six years ago) link

but maybe the liability is fixable, no one has ever taken a year off to try, the only time guys miss that kind of time is with a major injury which obvs hinders yr ability to train

lag∞n, Thursday, 26 October 2017 18:24 (six years ago) link

they cld take the time off but still practice w the team in situations that allows them to learn the nba game w/o putting the pressure to actually make shots w half fixed form

lag∞n, Thursday, 26 October 2017 18:25 (six years ago) link

let ball ball

k3vin k., Thursday, 26 October 2017 19:08 (six years ago) link

k3vin k., Thursday, 26 October 2017 19:08 (six years ago) link

-100 meaningful

lag∞n, Thursday, 26 October 2017 19:09 (six years ago) link

k3vin k., Thursday, 26 October 2017 19:09 (six years ago) link

xp yeah just saying :)

k3vin k., Thursday, 26 October 2017 19:09 (six years ago) link

i saw a really weird +/- outlier last night I think it was reddick

ciderpress, Thursday, 26 October 2017 19:10 (six years ago) link

even the most dire hard +/- supporters are all you have to adjust it and then its still a lil noisy FROM SEASON TO SEASON

lag∞n, Thursday, 26 October 2017 19:12 (six years ago) link

I enjoy it as a purely retrospective stat like the WPA stats in baseball

ciderpress, Thursday, 26 October 2017 19:32 (six years ago) link

lonzo also jumps very forward with straight, stiff legs which makes his shot look like Double Dribble

you are juror number 144 and we will excuse you (Sufjan Grafton), Thursday, 26 October 2017 19:52 (six years ago) link

I don’t think ball will ever be a good shooter. There’s just too much going on there. I think he’ll figure out how to shoot wide open shots like Kidd did tho.

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 26 October 2017 21:29 (six years ago) link

kyrie thought the court was the actual old court not just painted to resemble it lmfao

In case you need to tell someone…tonight’s #ReturntotheMECCA court is a brand new floor.

Here’s how we made it: pic.twitter.com/GjtsIDts2A

There definitely was variability in court surface back then tho, the garden’s floor just wasn’t the horrible thing people thought it was

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 26 October 2017 21:31 (six years ago) link

what bird said iirc was that he had no idea where the dead spots were

lag∞n, Thursday, 26 October 2017 21:33 (six years ago) link

kyrie is an airhead

Spottie, Thursday, 26 October 2017 21:34 (six years ago) link

i really thought he was joking abt the flat earth but now im not sure

lag∞n, Thursday, 26 October 2017 21:35 (six years ago) link

the bigger impediment to changing lonzo's shooting form is not whether he's playing or not, it's lavar

J0rdan S., Thursday, 26 October 2017 21:39 (six years ago) link

Yeah I think we can assume Kyrie was serious about flat earth now

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 26 October 2017 21:42 (six years ago) link

lonzo really needs to cut him out of his professional life, already cost him $10m on that shoe bs

lag∞n, Thursday, 26 October 2017 21:42 (six years ago) link

You’re not gonna have success radically changing it. You can get him to jump straight up and down tho

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 26 October 2017 21:43 (six years ago) link

imo kyrie was more "asking tough questions" abt flat earth than a true believer

lag∞n, Thursday, 26 October 2017 21:43 (six years ago) link

homer

Spottie, Thursday, 26 October 2017 21:45 (six years ago) link

seeing a lot of brogdon for bledsoe chatter out there.

Spottie, Thursday, 26 October 2017 21:49 (six years ago) link

seems p reasonable

lag∞n, Thursday, 26 October 2017 21:52 (six years ago) link

would probably have to throw in henson to make the numbers work? idk

Spottie, Thursday, 26 October 2017 21:52 (six years ago) link

henson or teletovic would make it work i think

call all destroyer, Thursday, 26 October 2017 21:59 (six years ago) link

brogdon just seems like the ideal stable teammate.

Spottie, Thursday, 26 October 2017 22:01 (six years ago) link

hes def very solid and on a cheap deal, i cld see the bucks not wanting to do it, but they also need some better players

lag∞n, Thursday, 26 October 2017 22:03 (six years ago) link

if they cld get rid of one of delly teletovic or henson in the process that wld be good for them too

lag∞n, Thursday, 26 October 2017 22:04 (six years ago) link

the suns dont need to be taking on the henson deal tho. they already have a henson in alex len

Spottie, Thursday, 26 October 2017 22:12 (six years ago) link

henson has three years left, like what does that guy even do?

call all destroyer, Thursday, 26 October 2017 22:12 (six years ago) link

not much

they've got to be leery about his knees too since they've got Jabari and his knees employed already

Spottie, Thursday, 26 October 2017 22:13 (six years ago) link

brogdon on a rookie deal for bledose at $16m per year doesn't seem like a trade a smart nba team (the bucks) would make nowadays

J0rdan S., Thursday, 26 October 2017 22:18 (six years ago) link

its good if they can offload one of those deals mentioned above

Spottie, Thursday, 26 October 2017 22:19 (six years ago) link

yeah
