if you can't play your best possible D with Thibs yelling at you and Butler reinforcing that, there's no hope. still early in the season, he has time.

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Saturday, 28 October 2017 18:26 (six years ago) link

yeah and hes young, its weird tho

lag∞n, Saturday, 28 October 2017 18:28 (six years ago) link

theres no reason kat shdnt be able to defend hes got all the tools he just seems........soft

Defense is a skill and sometimes people don’t learn skills

Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 28 October 2017 20:21 (six years ago) link

but why

lag∞n, Saturday, 28 October 2017 20:27 (six years ago) link

lack of focus maybe?

Spottie, Saturday, 28 October 2017 20:44 (six years ago) link

it almost seems like he lacks....hardness?

lag∞n, Saturday, 28 October 2017 20:57 (six years ago) link

KAT will never have the same temperament and attitude as a KG or a Pat Beverly, but it seems a bit harsh to call him soft.

~~~~drifts off into dream ~~~~~~~~
years from now KAT walks up to the podium to finish his life's dream.... after a classy, gracious speech in which he thanks his family, God, Thibs, the coach who spurred him on to four NBA titles and three MVP awards, the late Flip Saunders...he paused... his eyes welling up..."You know there's one person I haven't thanked... one person who helped me on my journey in so many ways...KAT pauses again, clearly moved..... that's upper mississippi sh@kedown... when there were so many doubters on ilh, calling me soft, questioning my commitment to defense...he never stopped believing.....(sobs pointing into the crowd) he's right here.... stand up man....yeah.... this one's for you, dog.... this one's for you......
Universal LULU Nation (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Saturday, 28 October 2017 21:46 (six years ago) link
I do feel like Wiggins and him both get judged on the fact they don't necessarily mug and make big angry man gestures after they do something big on the court
hot take: they are the first post-Drake NBA stars
no m@tt nooooooo
Spottie, Saturday, 28 October 2017 21:55 (six years ago) link
dream sequence was funny tho
Spottie, Saturday, 28 October 2017 21:55 (six years ago) link
if post drake means very bad at defense!!!!
lag∞n, Saturday, 28 October 2017 21:58 (six years ago) link
at least kat rebounds wiggins is just a non entity on one side of the ball (the defense side)
lag∞n, Saturday, 28 October 2017 22:02 (six years ago) link
lmao at management making wiggins promise to get better at basketball before they maxed him out, alltime telling on yrself
lag∞n, Saturday, 28 October 2017 22:03 (six years ago) link
youd think wiggins could at least be bad like Monta was in his prime where he gambles every possession but at least comes away with a few steals per game.
Spottie, Saturday, 28 October 2017 22:05 (six years ago) link
he has very long arms if he just waved them around some good things wld happen now and then
lag∞n, Saturday, 28 October 2017 22:08 (six years ago) link
Wiggins seems like an odd kid in some way, I remember in the Spurs game thinking he wasn't playing with much intensity then the stats came up in the third quarter he was the game's leading scorere and had more points and rebounds than Lamarcus who the announcers had been raving about
I don't really believe the Drake thing but it feels right when I type it
neither are great at defense but so are a whole shitload of dudes with rings and in the HoF
Universal LULU Nation (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Saturday, 28 October 2017 22:09 (six years ago) link
centers being bad defenders in todays nba is becoming nearly untenable, u have to at least be able to play at a in the right place at the right time level, the good news is kat shd be able to accomplish this easily, the bad news is so far he has not, wiggins u can prob deal with doing nothing but scoring tho its def not ideal
Curry turned the corner from bad defender to good/competent with this as one of his methods
Spottie, Saturday, 28 October 2017 22:14 (six years ago) link
at least defense can, to some degree, be taught and embraced effort wise if the player is willing.
however these are all small things in the Timberwolves mission to build increasingly fascinating and complex ways of disappointing me
Universal LULU Nation (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Saturday, 28 October 2017 22:20 (six years ago) link
this piece on giannis goes into some detail about how the bucks entire defensive philosophy is basically high hands and kidd logs all the times giannis had low hands on their whiteboard post game to shame him http://www.espn.com/espn/feature/story/_/page/enterpriseBucks/how-giannis-antetokounmpo-bucks-plan-take-warriors
lag∞n, Saturday, 28 October 2017 22:25 (six years ago) link
pels scored 123 with 9 bench points that seems like an unusual ratio
ciderpress, Sunday, 29 October 2017 02:01 (six years ago) link
pistons are wearing whites with the same color scheme as the clippers in staples i can't deal with this
"most importantly, i appreciate m@tt's willingness to continue to follow and support my career after i left the timberwolves, a venerable but cursed franchise, to join the los angeles lakers"
i just got around to watching the fight from last night and these jerseys are irredeemable trash
Clay, Sunday, 29 October 2017 03:18 (six years ago) link
celtics-heat was physical as hell both teams playing super scrappy kinda fun to have one of those games now and then, kyries doing a reasonable isaiah impression when bostons double digi lead was cut to 2 with 2 mins left he scored 9 straight points to ice it, heat r pretty impressive totally a team of cast offs that plays really hard
lag∞n, Sunday, 29 October 2017 04:51 (six years ago) link
i've really come around on kyrie though i still think he looks like he's 35
ciderpress, Sunday, 29 October 2017 05:04 (six years ago) link
Embiid is a turnover machine. Averaging almost 5 a game in limited minutes...
Spottie, Sunday, 29 October 2017 18:26 (six years ago) link
he cld use a lil more discipline to his game altogether, just out there operating on talent doing whatever
lag∞n, Sunday, 29 October 2017 18:59 (six years ago) link
but hes played like what 35 games
lag∞n, Sunday, 29 October 2017 19:04 (six years ago) link
Yah I guess that just seems super high for a scoring center.
Spottie, Sunday, 29 October 2017 19:08 (six years ago) link
I guess Sabonis is good.
Spottie, Sunday, 29 October 2017 22:09 (six years ago) link
I think Willie Cayley-Stein is low key not good
Matt Armstrong, Sunday, 29 October 2017 22:54 (six years ago) link
iPhone corrects cauley to Cayley which seems presumptuous
Matt Armstrong, Sunday, 29 October 2017 22:55 (six years ago) link
He will never last a full season playing like he does imo
Matt Armstrong, Sunday, 29 October 2017 23:00 (six years ago) link
tend to agree
Allen (etaeoe), Monday, 30 October 2017 03:00 (six years ago) link
drummond suddenly figuring out both free throws and defense helps a lot, not sure if its small sample or an actual improvement
ciderpress, Monday, 30 October 2017 03:04 (six years ago) link
