Cunts

I don't get to watch much but spurs games now and uh I'm pretty sure I post during those....

Gary Synaesthesia (darraghmac), Monday, 6 November 2017 10:21 (six years ago) link

FAO of The Clerk of Jerks. It is a football thread not a fucking Gogol novel ffs!

calzino, Monday, 6 November 2017 10:26 (six years ago) link

ok i've started watching the highlights

chelsea allowed rashford a completely unmarked header from a longish cross after 7 minutes. he didn't take the chance. chelsea did take the chance. you have to expect one defensive mistake per game unless you're some kind of spoilt football brat

imago, Monday, 6 November 2017 10:35 (six years ago) link

rashford chance actually worse marking/easier finish than the morata one, which came about due to an inspired bit of movement by all the forwards, overloading the centre-backs

imago, Monday, 6 November 2017 10:40 (six years ago) link

I am not even going to get into the blind entitled nonsense you read/hear from superclub fans expecting a procession every season, and crying like spoilt brats when it doesn't happen. Because I have a serious lack of dazzling wit and am already on a yellow!

calzino, Monday, 6 November 2017 10:43 (six years ago) link

you actually support an EPL team, and one who won on the weekend, you should take the floor tbh. wax lyrical about lossl or something. we also need a burnley fan

imago, Monday, 6 November 2017 10:46 (six years ago) link

I'd prefer it if they got relegated this season tbh. The infrastructure and access to the stadium can't cope with full houses every home game. The quiet disabled section where me + Alex used to sit is overrun with bothersome people these days and I can't go to games anymore. We should have stuck with Chris Powell! But I regret not getting a cheap season ticket so I could rent it out to befuddled daytrippers wanting to get a glimpse of Man Utd etc - that would have been a nice little earner.

calzino, Monday, 6 November 2017 10:57 (six years ago) link

xps - that was a really poor united performance though compared to what we were seeing in september - the midfield looked flimsy, i love herrera but he looked stretched thin in that game, mkhitaryan went missing again, don't even remember them creating many more chances than the rashford one, mourinho didn't really have much of a plan to cope with fabregas and hazard other than that spell of fouls against the latter in the second half, they looked shakey and disorganised from the outset and the phil jones og should have stood. that said, chelsea played really well and i'm increasingly enjoying conte's late period italo disco haircut

plp will eat itself (NickB), Monday, 6 November 2017 11:02 (six years ago) link

I always liked Chris Powell tbf

Gary Synaesthesia (darraghmac), Monday, 6 November 2017 11:04 (six years ago) link

fantastic left-back, fantastic man, maybe even a semi-decent manager that all our fans pine for all the time

meanwhile in east london, the circus rolls on

imago, Monday, 6 November 2017 11:16 (six years ago) link

Lovely guy, the players adored him as well - but probably mainly because he was more of a hugger than a hairdryer, every time he went back to London he'd give them 2 days off training.

calzino, Monday, 6 November 2017 11:20 (six years ago) link

powell was certainly a manager the players loved, but also a manager who needed to build up the momentum of results - he tended to have long streaks of winning or losing

slaven bilic: actually a decent manager who's been ludicrously underfunded this year, or a lucky beginner who's been found out?

imago, Monday, 6 November 2017 11:21 (six years ago) link

delighted moyes is going to be back in work. need the laughter.

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Monday, 6 November 2017 11:24 (six years ago) link

underfunded, sure, but he still bought terribly. Hart is Hart, Chicharito is essentially useless without decent service (and on the decline anyway) and Arnautovic is neither fish nor fowl and certainly not someone you can rely on in a relegation battle

Number None, Monday, 6 November 2017 11:28 (six years ago) link

Think Bilic can be a decent manager. With LG on good lols w/ Moysey though.

Feeling the love here this morning tbf <3

Le Bateau Ivre, Monday, 6 November 2017 11:29 (six years ago) link

Arnautovic was a very poor transfer. They paid way too much and didn't need the extra trouble he brings.

Le Bateau Ivre, Monday, 6 November 2017 11:30 (six years ago) link

how does moyes even get the wh job? like i'd have thought after sunderland his rep is trash.

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Monday, 6 November 2017 11:36 (six years ago) link

football management is one of the few areas of employment that consistently rewards failure tbf

Number None, Monday, 6 November 2017 11:41 (six years ago) link

He is the actual last man you want in a relegation battle, he'll be going in there on day one and telling the players to prepare for life in the Championship.

Matt DC, Monday, 6 November 2017 11:42 (six years ago) link

far be it from me to suggest that Messrs Gold and Sullivan may not be astute football minds

Pope Urban the Legend (Noodle Vague), Monday, 6 November 2017 11:42 (six years ago) link

he's been punditing on BEIN Sports of late. Manages to project an overwhelming air of failure and despair even when sat next to Keys and Gray

Number None, Monday, 6 November 2017 11:46 (six years ago) link

oh I guess Allardyce is getting the Everton job too

Number None, Monday, 6 November 2017 11:49 (six years ago) link

looking forward to his first press conference. can we try to guess some quotes?

"the reality is we're in a relegation battle. there's no guarantee we'll get out of that."

"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe"

Pope Urban the Legend (Noodle Vague), Monday, 6 November 2017 11:51 (six years ago) link

Haha

Le Bateau Ivre, Monday, 6 November 2017 11:52 (six years ago) link

I approve this appointment

But doctor, I am Camille Paglia (Bananaman Begins), Monday, 6 November 2017 11:53 (six years ago) link

"It's all about perspective. Trying to battle relegation isn't as bad as, say, battling cancer. Relegation isn't the end of the world. I'll make sure my players understand this. Fans too."

looking forward to his first press conference.

"the truth is we're going down. all of us are getting relegated each day, in various ways, in our lives, our relationships with others, in how we think of ourselves. we have to face up to it."

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Monday, 6 November 2017 12:07 (six years ago) link

"relegation is not an automatic death sentence. many clubs live a full and happy life after relegation."

Two shocking appointments

Gary Synaesthesia (darraghmac), Monday, 6 November 2017 12:13 (six years ago) link

If Sean Dyche had been called Sam Allardyche he'd have got the job.

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Monday, 6 November 2017 12:25 (six years ago) link

Rah

Gary Synaesthesia (darraghmac), Monday, 6 November 2017 12:58 (six years ago) link

Moyes added: “I think we’ve got a good squad. At the moment they should be in a better position than they are, and I believe they will be come the end of the season.

he's lost the run of himself completely.

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Tuesday, 7 November 2017 10:12 (six years ago) link

mainly joking i can't help but feel touched by the ray of hope

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Tuesday, 7 November 2017 10:13 (six years ago) link

West Ham United can confirm the appointment of David Moyes as the Club’s manager. pic.twitter.com/AIOWnHWn27

— West Ham United (@WestHamUtd) November 7, 2017

seems they've appointed his ghost

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Tuesday, 7 November 2017 10:15 (six years ago) link

Sullivan told the club website: “I would like to welcome David to West Ham United. This is a unique position for David Gold and myself - it is the first time in almost eight years at West Ham United that we have appointed a new manager during the season.

for a split second I thought this quote was going to end "...who is also called David"

Number None, Tuesday, 7 November 2017 10:16 (six years ago) link

Looks like Scotland's dodged a bullet at least. Though he'll still be Scotland manager at some point in the near future.

Terry Micawber (Tom D.), Tuesday, 7 November 2017 10:30 (six years ago) link

that whu announcement video is hilarious, why the fuck is it so brown and vintage?

Le Bateau Ivre, Tuesday, 7 November 2017 11:12 (six years ago) link

It's a pity Croatia replaced their manager so recently.

Bilic off to Spain next or what dwe think

Gary Synaesthesia (darraghmac), Tuesday, 7 November 2017 11:24 (six years ago) link

The world's his oxter.

West Ham's next six games

Watford (a)
Leicester City (h)
Everton (a)
Manchester City (a)
Chelsea (h)
Arsenal (h)

Number None, Tuesday, 7 November 2017 11:55 (six years ago) link

If he hasn't had a win by the time they get to that Everton game this is gonna be fun. Probably a good time to be playing Watford, terrible time to be playing Leicester.
