they were def in a weird place after cp3 bolted but i dunno. that contract has the chance to cripple their team. what's he gonna be like in year 3 of that deal?

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 21 November 2017 05:47 (six years ago) link

they shd prob just blow it up

lag∞n, Tuesday, 21 November 2017 14:30 (six years ago) link

they were playing p well before the gallo/milos injuries, right? is it not that straightforward? at any rate, they would struggle to get back into the playoff hunt and should totally bottom out this year.

also by year 3 their powder is mostly dry except they have almost $57 mil going to blake and gallo, oops

i think the bucks need to fire kidd. that offense is not working.

Spottie, Tuesday, 21 November 2017 16:41 (six years ago) link

yeah hes bad

lag∞n, Tuesday, 21 November 2017 16:43 (six years ago) link

brogdon is playing horribly. bledsoe and giannis and middleton just take turns ISOing. badddddddd

Spottie, Tuesday, 21 November 2017 16:44 (six years ago) link

he always looks confused about whats going on in the basketball game

lag∞n, Tuesday, 21 November 2017 16:45 (six years ago) link

think that's just his resting face tho haha

Spottie, Tuesday, 21 November 2017 16:47 (six years ago) link

they play this super swarmy trappy defense which is exploitable by ball reversal aka the thing all modern offenses are designed to do too which is like whats the point of having all those long arms they shd just switch and stay in front of their mans contest and so forth, with the roster they have now they cld just play simple solid basketball on both sides and it wld work

lag∞n, Tuesday, 21 November 2017 16:49 (six years ago) link

yeah they have good solid individual defenders and good shooters throughout their lineup.

Spottie, Tuesday, 21 November 2017 16:53 (six years ago) link

they could beat anyone on any given night but no one is worried about them over a 7 game series at this moment.

Spottie, Tuesday, 21 November 2017 16:54 (six years ago) link

bledsoe-giannis pnr seems fine as soon as he rolls every defender will be all over him and hes a good passer and they have shooters and he will still be able to dunk it most of the time even if hes triple teamed on the catch

lag∞n, Tuesday, 21 November 2017 16:55 (six years ago) link

celtics-sixers-bucks are teams w serious young talent the east cld be brutal in a couple years its unclear if the sixers and bucks have the organizational competence to pull it off tho

lag∞n, Tuesday, 21 November 2017 16:57 (six years ago) link

xp yeah and there's obv gonna be some growing pains w bledsoe and brogdon but early returns show that Kidd is still the weak link *queue eight game win streak*

Spottie, Tuesday, 21 November 2017 16:59 (six years ago) link

we need the 76ers in the playoffs this year.

Spottie, Tuesday, 21 November 2017 16:59 (six years ago) link

def

lag∞n, Tuesday, 21 November 2017 17:01 (six years ago) link

also lol at the only game tonight being the Bulls v Lakers.

Spottie, Tuesday, 21 November 2017 17:02 (six years ago) link

needed to clear the sched for that one

lag∞n, Tuesday, 21 November 2017 17:31 (six years ago) link

haha
Bulls should keep Lauri and Dunn and send the rest to the glue factory

It's like a weird copy of the lebron heat era defense only that is now a full version behind offenses today (and required massive ball IQ plus experience down the roster plus the best player to make work)

gis for westbrook shark jump (agent hibachi), Tuesday, 21 November 2017 18:01 (six years ago) link

I'm no defensive genius but I look at those giant wingspans plus no obvious minus defenders to hide and just say 1) switch every p&r and 2) otherwise stay up on your man and 3) have some sort of rebounding philosophy and just stick to those rules and you'd end up middle of the pack at worst right?

gis for westbrook shark jump (agent hibachi), Tuesday, 21 November 2017 18:04 (six years ago) link

theyre 22nd in defensive efficiency! outragous

lag∞n, Tuesday, 21 November 2017 18:07 (six years ago) link

they should be top ten easily, really top five tho

Spottie, Tuesday, 21 November 2017 18:13 (six years ago) link

theyve got a lot of defensive talent, i can cut them some slack cause theyre young but not even being in the top half is dumb

lag∞n, Tuesday, 21 November 2017 18:14 (six years ago) link

yeah Dunn looks like an actual player!

Spottie, Tuesday, 21 November 2017 18:19 (six years ago) link

the kidd decision will be interesting. lasry was the owner that got him into the job, but edens is still the governor for two more years and they already had that weird controversy about the gm where edens may have exercised veto power.

and here's another chapter in ray allen's weirdly depressing life: http://www.celticslife.com/2017/11/ray-allen-claims-hes-been-catfished.html?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

i really enjoyed the way those heat teams played defense but hibachi is right that it's probably easier to pull off when your entire roster is basically 28 years old and over with several hall of famers.

i think i get the thinking behind it... they're really long on the wings and at guard but they don't have a traditional rim protector, much like the heat didn't. i get why you would want to be more disruptive away from the basket instead of playing a more conservative style where you funnel the ball towards a big man. and they are forcing the third most TOs in the league according to these stats i'm looking at, but they also play the third slowest pace in the league so i feel like it sort of defeats the purpose?

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 22 November 2017 04:17 (six years ago) link

antonio blakeney is getting a lot of run for the bulls tonight & he looks interesting if highly inefficient in a very sixth man combo guard kinda way. he was a top 20 recruit the same year as ben simmons & played w/ him at LSU... that team was criminally bad. the head coach should be banned from ever coaching basketball again.

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 22 November 2017 04:21 (six years ago) link

is denzel valentine any good? his stats look not awful but he's oddly sized.

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 22 November 2017 04:27 (six years ago) link

kuzma looks like a find and i believe in lonzo mostly but i still don't like this lakers core really at all

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 22 November 2017 04:31 (six years ago) link

the bulls are whipping them... i'd maybe take lavine/dunn/markannen over lonzo/ingram/randle

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 22 November 2017 04:32 (six years ago) link

i like markannen the best out of all those guys

lag∞n, Wednesday, 22 November 2017 04:39 (six years ago) link

yeah. and as far as the older guys go lavine is better than randle.

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 22 November 2017 04:42 (six years ago) link

i guess a lot rides on ingram

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 22 November 2017 04:42 (six years ago) link

but they don't have a traditional rim protector

I saw Dunn did two in a row off the bottom of the backboard as well

Spottie, Wednesday, 22 November 2017 04:54 (six years ago) link

lonzo looks like a junior high kid shooting it, ball is too heavy so he has to heave it but tries to play it off like it's an effortless flick of the wrist

Spottie, Wednesday, 22 November 2017 04:57 (six years ago) link

that hitch in lonzo's shot as he brings it up makes me gag
