I too hate it when the third installment in a series is the first I see and I have no idea what's going on. So annoying. Get it together, Hollywood.

I’ve gotten into Gotham against my better judgement. I can’t say it’s good but it is completely nuts and Donal Logue is reliable.

Most people seem to prefer Logan and Ragnarok, but I'm voting for Spider-Man Homecoming as Spidey's so much more relatable than Wolverine or Thor.

I think I said it on another thread, but it's one of the few superhero films I've seen where I've actually been scared for the protagonist.

yeah spiderman was really good. got overshadowed a bit this year by WW, Logan, and Thor I think; a fairly decent year for superhero movies.

voted legion because it reminded me of the comics i like and not some the ones i don't like

I am very interested in Logan. The one episode of Iron Fist I saw was super boring and I had no desire to finish it. Also, honorable mention to comic book-adjecent Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency, which continues to be bonkers in a way I find 100% appealing.

I haven't read the first volume of Runaways which the series is based on, so I can't really speak to how that is translating to the screen as far as comparing the show to the source material. I can say that Nico is a good bit more subdued than I expected her to be, Molly is aged up to be closer in age to the others but still fun, Chase and Karolina are about how I expected them to be, Gert is a complete rock star, and Alex is great so far but I'm not sure how they're going to finish the season given what happens in the comic books and how they've adapted it to the screen so far. One notable change is that they've given a lot more space to the parents in the television show, making them real people as opposed to one-dimensional villains, and the first three episodes are as much about their interactions and jockeying for position as they are about the kids; a couple of them are remarkably sympathetic villains (although that may change in episode 4 based on what I've seen of the trailers).

I say give the first two episodes a shot and, if you like them, watch episode 3 (my favorite so far, mostly because of how it builds upon the first two).

(I should explicitly add that my impressions of the characters given their appearances in Runaways Vol 2 and beyond is informing how I'm reacting to their televised portrayals; it's implicit in what I wrote but not necessarily obvious.)

I really like what they've done with Old Lace so far.

Arrow (TV ongoing - DC) - a joyless slugfest, as I said elsewhere an episode this season had a bad guy break into the building where the internet is stored to make it explode by overclocking it. In an entirely po-faced, non-camp way.
The Defenders (TV ongoing - Marvel) - another joyless slugfest, taking the worst parts of DD, JJ and LC and the best parts of IF (because the worst is too hard to imagine) and mashing them into a confusing set of punching.
The Flash (TV ongoing - DC) - much improved this season now it's become dumb monster of the week, and should stay that way. I'm a sucker for the Flash, especially some of the crappier villains, and this series has them in spades.
The Gifted (TV ongoing - Marvel) - truly awful, feels like a reskinning of the Tomorrow People reboot from a couple of years ago only maybe worse. As trope-y as trope can be.
Gotham (TV ongoing - DC) - is teetering on the edge of falling into a bit of a rut. I was hoping the introduction of Professor Pyg was going to buck this, and it did help a lot, but playboy Bruce is just dogshit. Having said that, Grundy is a treat.
Guardians of the Galaxy 2 (Film - Marvel) - an advert for itself at feature length. Can't remember much about it other than Ego The Living Planet, pretty sure I enjoyed it but have no desire to see it again to find out. Maybe I should.
Inhumans (TV ongoing - Marvel) - in a world of suck, this was the suckiest. Reading a series precis should be too much for most. A confusing mess that even a giant animated dog couldn't save.
Iron Fist (TV ongoing- Marvel) - talking of dogs, the runt of the Marvel Netflix litter. Boring punchathon with a mopey lead and characters you can't care about.
iZombie (TV ongoing - DC) - this feels like a season too far, or stretching the plot to suit commissioning requirements. The zombie soldiers thing could have played well, and the exclusion zone plot might have worked, but bringing basically all the characters back and the whole alive/dead/cure thing just felt like a reset button getting randomly mashed. When it works (going undercover at the zombie hunters club for example) it's on it, but otherwise not so much.
Legends of Tomorrow (TV ongoing - DC) - the goofy fun younger brother of the Arrowverse, but also the red-headed stepchild. Dumb fun that really doesn't take itself seriously and doesn't want to be, with big stoopid concepts - their communications devices go down because Helen of Troy timetravels to Hollywood and stops Heddy Lamarr becoming famous grab ya?
Legion (TV ongoing - Marvel) - the classiest and best made of all the tv shows. Loved it, and can't wait for series 2.
Logan (Film - Marvel) - saw it on a plane, didn't lose anything imo by not having the big screen. Felt like it was deliberately proving it was MATURE and NOT COMICS REALLY but the meta was too strong for me and I didn't care for the ending.
Lucifer (TV ongoing - DC) - secretly great. An engaging cast, slightly goofy plotting, the right level of camp... simple little detective plots move it along while the arc rumbles in the background. Although is there even one this year? I don't think so.
Outcast (TV ongoing - Image) - series one was great, this one not so much. Fells very much like contractual obligation for twofer commissioning and even Brent Spiner getting beaten up couldn't save it.
Powerless (TV - DC) - I actually didn't mind this. It was a fairly bog standard sitcom but was better than, say, The Big Bang Theory. OK, that was a low blow.
Preacher ( (TV ongoing - DC) - Sort of wading round in its own filth, could go somewhere but sort of doesn't. This series, what with revealing The Grail and Herr Star and all, should have been better than it was but had something definitely lacking. Probably wasn't funny enough?
The Punisher (TV ongoing - Marvel) - the best of all the Netflix series, ep 10 (in the hotel) would be the highlight of many other, more well regarded series and the final episode was a moving exploration of ptsd not matched in recent memory.
Riverdale (TV ongoing - Archie) - another where S2 has gone astray. I've just found myself not really caring about Northside vs Southside when it's got a dark spin on it and isn't about hot dog eating competitions.
Spider-Man: Homecoming (Film - Marvel) - a lot of fun, but felt like a mismatch. Spidey was a little too good/confident because of the super suit, whereas I could have done with more of the first Tobey film learning process.
Supergirl (TV ongoing - DC) - cast is too big and is leaning too heavily on the soap-y parts this season. A whole episode about lesbian daddy issues? Really? Thankfully the Legion of Super-Heroes are coming to save the day.
The Tick (TV ongoing) - enjoyed this a lot but inconsequential stuff. Almost a sequel/update to Mystery Men in tone which was pretty effective.
Thor: Ragnarok (Film - Marvel) - Taika does a tremendous job and the Kirby visuals made this a blast from start to finish.
Wonder Woman (Film-DC) - this was pretty dull, right? Not for me. I want Egg Fu.

Had missed Runaways starting so will give it a pop especially since all the DC shows are going into Christmas hiatus.
Haven't been to see Justice League yet and haven't heard a case for why it needs to be seen on the big screen. Will use the same logic as I did for GreySuit vs Greysuit: Dusk of Justice and pick it up on dvd for somewhere in the region of $5.
I quite enjoyed the first Kingsman but will wait until I happen across the sequel as I'm not going out of my way to see it.
I managed to miss Wilson the one night I could have seen it. Doesn't sound like I missed much.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. S4 was excellent too, but I think that's not included because it started in 2016?

agreed. me and mk2 loved this, totally bonkers, but very enjoyable.

As a comics nerd, I have no particular interest in any TV/movie adaptations but the MCU stuff won me over because they're (mostly) fun movies, irrespective of source material.

Spider-Man was awesome - it dragged for the last 45 mins but I was happy existing in its sweet little universe, and I'm glad they didn't kill off MK at the end.

I don't enjoy any of the SHEILD/Legion/Berlanti/Netflix stuff. I can see that some of the shows are better than others, but they're all too dull to make an effort with on an extended basis. (I guess I'm in the minority who found Legion to be tedious wank.)

The one show I really dug was S2 of Agent Carter, and that got cancelled so

I loved WW and Logan, liked Homecoming and Ragnarok. But I'll give the vote to Legion, which really caught me off guard. I was kinda amazed to see a surreal Shade-type comic onscreen, and loved every second of it. Far, far better than the Netflix shows, which rapidly tumbled down in quality (though I haven't watched Punisher yet).

Poll missed Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. I didn't see it and unfortunately it looks far too slick for me to be interested.
I wouldn't be surprised if Japan had 50 times more comic adaptations than America this year.

Logan taken me by surprise, it was quite stirring at points and seeing an adorable little girl brutally murder adults was thrilling. But somehow I can't say I liked it or recommend it that much.

Legion - Seemed intriguing to start with but I agree that it's tedious.

Lego Batman - Made me laugh once or twice but I didn't like it. Too Robot Chicken geeky.

I'd like to see Atomic Blonde because it has the startling novelty of being a modern American action film with nice cinematography.

I didn't like it much. Quite impressive animation at times and occasionally funny but I thought it was underwhelming.

Started Runaways to see what it was like - wasn't feeling it at all after the first ep but the second replaying many of the same events from the other perspective kind of sold me on it. Looks like a minor winner at the moment.
