Ahh yes, ta.

No despair, wouldn't say Everton are getting their act together just yet. I mean they are playing a Moyes side tbf.

How has Solanke been doing?

Matt DC, Wednesday, 29 November 2017 20:44 (six years ago) link

I can hear Moyes yelling at his players for all of the first half now. But I don't think the players can hear him.

can't believe that this is how rooney pays moyes back for all the faith he put in him

West Ham actually bossing this second half. Comedy capers at the back for Everton.

Arnautovic though... They actually paid 28 million for that dude. Incredible waste of money.

Le Bateau Ivre, Wednesday, 29 November 2017 21:12 (six years ago) link

ffs just completely undone in 2 minutes. All started by fucking Hadergjonaj cheaply giving the ball away.

West Ham come to life at last

Phil McNulty

BBC Sport chief football writer at Goodison Park

West Ham's start to the second half carries all the hallmarks of a team given the most almighty rollocking at half-time.

Moyes doing what he does best: shaking his head in disbelief and faux frustration. So glad he's back.

There was this documentary about Zidane some years ago, soundtrack by Mogwai. Camera's followed Zidane for the entire 90 minutes of a match. Do that with Moyes and I swear it's gonna rain Oscars, for the tale of humanity, defeat, emotion that it tells.

There's only two options left for Moysey now - career options that is, anything else is too distressing to contemplate - Scotland or Rangers.

Le Bateau Ivre, Wednesday, 29 November 2017 22:17 (six years ago) link

When wagner starts a game with Quaner and Cranie in the xi at the emirates you expect an absolute twatting. But we were good value for the first 60, apart from being as impotent as usual in the final third. But tbf Quaner had a shot on target. I saw enough in that first hour to know we will do better against the weaker sides. I don't fancy our chances against the ugly TWerP on saturday tho!

xp, it's this apparently

"I was telling Nathan Redmond how good he is at the end. Southampton have some super talented players, Redmond is so good one against one. But they didn't' want to play, they were time wasting from the ninth minute. I just wanted them to play." - Guardiola to BBC post-match. Stop

xp rabid in the headlights

Le Bateau Ivre, Wednesday, 29 November 2017 22:48 (six years ago) link

Encouraging, but I'm going to regard last night in the same kind of tediously deep historical context that my middle-age demands... i.e., it's basically the same as the night we thrashed Leeds in late '79 (Latchford (3)) and went back to garbage the weekend after. I think Leeds had already lost 0-7 at Arsenal in the League Cup that season. And we nearly always thump West Ham (and we always thump Moyes), even when the performance doesn't merit it (e.g. the 3-1 away a few seasons ago when WHU were one up into the last few minutes). And surely, given the positioning of Hart and the last two defenders for that WR wonder-strike, just about any hoof on target would have been a goal. Good of him to go for aesthetics.

Michael Jones, Thursday, 30 November 2017 10:32 (six years ago) link

Based on the first half there is reason for some optimism. Everton gelled at times and though it wasn't very good, there was some spirit there, good intention. Not as lacklustre as they have been all season. But the second half they only just managed to hold on. WHU (Moyes' WHU...) caused all sorts of trouble for EFC. It's a small miracle it ended 4-0 where it could've easily been 3-3, too.

Idk what Big Sam needs to bring to the table to change things around, other than the old vague 'confidence' and 'winning mentality'. The players individually are better than to sit in the bottom four. Most of all you need a striker under your xmas tree though.
