Are we doing the best of 2017 film run down? I've got a couple of 2016 films to put on that ballot.

Doing some cramming with Kurosawa & Ozu before I submit my ballot.

Sent my ballot. I didn't think I'd vote more than 30 but 50 was easy. I wish I had nominated more Japanese directors and animators.

Firmed up my ballot too. Intersectionality takes a hit, tho I'd argue my #1 choice is the only most wokest director who ever lived.

Ballot received RAG. So far, 4 are in.

yeah i'm working on mine and got the top 20 pretty solid but it's definitely going to be easy for me to get to 50. probably won't send mine in until boxing day, have a lot of stuff i need to watch. and rewatch. Todd Haynes rocketed up my list after i watched SAFE for the first time in 9 years yesterday.

Not that it's odd with only four ballots in yet, but only one director's on all four ballots and all four have different #1s.

John Waters has that kind of oeuvre.

Ranked ballots only?

You can send ranked or unranked. Or a portion ranked and a portion unranked.

Five ballots in and now no director appears on everyone's ballot. However, nine directors do appear on four ballots.

Can I just send in my number 1? I can do randos for the rest.

Sure. I'll just assign the same number of points to the rest.

I have my 50 carved out and my top (several) ranked. Just a matter of deciding if I want to rank all 50.

I hope some of you are using your holiday breaks to work up a ballot.

Jankovics and Serebryakov did some of my favourite animated films. Nakagawa for some of the most important ghost films. Sono for Love Exposure.
Tokuzo Tanaka for the brilliant and underseen Curse Of The Snow Witch and Haunted Castle, he did a ton of films in the 60s and I hope there's more surprises from him to discover.

Just submitted my ballot. Will be astonished and amused if any of my nominees turn up in the top 100.

Not sure how to rank directors where I haven't seen the bulk of their output or only care for a few of their movies. e.g. Robert Aldrich made some great movies, but I've also seen some where I can't understand what the hell I'm watching.

i feel strongly about my top 15-20. others are somewhat arbitrary. i mean my #5 has only made 2 films

I am not a professional and therefore felt free to go with my feelings (especially for my lower 40).
