Total classic + one of my favourite basslines to play

raise my chicken finger (Willl), Monday, 11 December 2017 14:23 (six years ago) link

classic -- particularly when you hear it amongst a hundred other, normal xmas songs

Dominique, Monday, 11 December 2017 14:30 (six years ago) link

I really like it, played it on my show this week alongside Libido's Come On Everybody and James Brown's Santa go Straight To The Ghetto.

Billy Ficca on drums.

The bassline is the thing that drew me into this song when I heard it for the very first time!

Gholdfish Killah (Turrican), Monday, 11 December 2017 18:23 (six years ago) link

i hate this song

-_- (jim in vancouver), Monday, 11 December 2017 18:24 (six years ago) link

Probably the only Christmas song that doesn’t make me want to stab myself

calstars, Monday, 11 December 2017 18:27 (six years ago) link

Dud is going to come runner up in this poll, I’m feeling

the article don, Monday, 11 December 2017 18:48 (six years ago) link

I'm going to take the rest of the day off work and create sockpuppets to vote dud

Undeniably great and classic.

correlated noise of conformity (Hunt3r), Monday, 11 December 2017 18:54 (six years ago) link

It's fine

brimstead, Monday, 11 December 2017 19:25 (six years ago) link

How is this a new poll isn't there a massive iconic Christmas wrapping ILM love thread?

brimstead, Monday, 11 December 2017 19:26 (six years ago) link

yeah i'd agree that Davitt Sigerson's cut is possibly the best on the ZE comp; an incredibly heartfelt song about family that doesn't make you want to vomit is rare enough but one this good.. man alive.

piscesx, Monday, 11 December 2017 19:32 (six years ago) link

Even though I've heard it 10000 times, still classic.

stirmonster, Monday, 11 December 2017 22:04 (six years ago) link

xp Partial to the Suicide song too. And Cristina.

Fred Klinkenberg (Eric H.), Monday, 11 December 2017 22:06 (six years ago) link

classic, my 2nd favourite Christmas song

Algerian Goalkeeper (Odysseus), Monday, 11 December 2017 22:10 (six years ago) link

Chris Butler gave me a lift to the train station once, nice guy

fact checking cuz, Monday, 11 December 2017 22:23 (six years ago) link

stone cold classic

sleeve, Monday, 11 December 2017 22:35 (six years ago) link

(and a great band as well, with plenty of worthwhile deep cuts)

sleeve, Monday, 11 December 2017 22:35 (six years ago) link

Is Chris Butler still trying to write the world's longest song? I'm sure The Flaming Lips have outdone him by this point.

Gholdfish Killah (Turrican), Monday, 11 December 2017 22:37 (six years ago) link

I'm pretty sure he finally fixed whatever it was he was trying to fix

jesus and figs and science and the foo fighters (unregistered), Monday, 11 December 2017 22:43 (six years ago) link

Such a boss tune

Well bissogled trotters (Michael B), Monday, 25 December 2017 12:34 (six years ago) link

Spice Girls version came on as we dined the other night, was nice

Cardi Acs (imago), Monday, 25 December 2017 12:43 (six years ago) link

Ha, love it when the number of responses to a poll far outpaces the average number of ILXors active at any given time. But I guess it was important to make your voice heard on this one and stamp out ignorance. Kudos.

Encyclopedia Beige and the Case of the Bland Sandwich (Old Lunch), Monday, 25 December 2017 14:02 (six years ago) link

In favor of ratio-ing ilxpolls to stamp out ignorance.

84 classic votes!
