Jankovics and Serebryakov did some of my favourite animated films. Nakagawa for some of the most important ghost films. Sono for Love Exposure.
Tokuzo Tanaka for the brilliant and underseen Curse Of The Snow Witch and Haunted Castle, he did a ton of films in the 60s and I hope there's more surprises from him to discover.

Just submitted my ballot. Will be astonished and amused if any of my nominees turn up in the top 100.

Not sure how to rank directors where I haven't seen the bulk of their output or only care for a few of their movies. e.g. Robert Aldrich made some great movies, but I've also seen some where I can't understand what the hell I'm watching.

i feel strongly about my top 15-20. others are somewhat arbitrary. i mean my #5 has only made 2 films

Gah, still nowhere near finalising mine and I've got to work on some EoY music poll thoughts too - I might just do a ranked top ten and then throw as many more as I can think of into an unranked pile.

i only did 33 and even then i wouldn't call a few of them "great"

left my draft list at home and now i'm at my mom's but then again i was always just gonna make a list of stuff i like with no overarching theory so

i have 5 so far... i’ll have, uh, something worked out soon.
