Maybe I couldn't imagine anyone else writing Army Dreamers, but All We Ever Looked For is even more distinctively Kate. Absolutely can't imagine anyone else writing/recording anything close to that (prior to her doing so anyway).

(I showed restraint by not using the word "quintessentially.")

"Blow Away."

love the sonic details in this album, like the suppressed choir from hell on "Egypt", or the radio chatter on "Breathing" and the voice saying "don't let go" in collision with her "let go" vocal on the infant kiss. Bush was more foreground in the production and this was a transitional album to the same sonic signifiers and tendency towards sonic experiments she would use on "the dreaming" and "the hounds of love" and further.

feel like what sets this record apart is it feels like the first expansion on the sonic ideas she may have initiated on tracks like "moving" (kick inside) without the laser-eye experimentation of "dreaming" or honing back to commercial whims on "Hounds of Love". and it's a good set of songs. the end

is that how night scented stock came to be? were those background vocals meant to be used on blow away?

Not sure the story tbh akm but it's a cool detail!
