Street Fight posted a three year-old lost episode with Will talking about Sons of Anarchy, it's really good. I think I'd like their show a lot more if they had someone to keep them on track or keep it to one or two issues, episodes just bounce around too much.

I don't know how you guys can listen to Cumtown. I've never managed to get past a couple of minutes they're seemingly just the most awful people.
re Cumtown i didn't like it much at first but it grew on me. like i can 'get' the ironic riffing on race & jews & uh intellectual disabilities, but most of the gay "jokes" just seem dumb and unfunny, in the way a shitty 13 year old idiot yelling "fag" is dumb and unfunny. and the Adam bashing just kind of gets boring after a while. lots of times there's not even really a joke there. i saw em live last month at their "funny moms" show and it was indeed very funny. they're actually pretty good comics and managed more or less to avoid the cartoonishly ott vulgarity and bleak nihilism often exhibited on the pod.
that said it's def not for everyone and i certainly can't blame folks for absolutely loathing them/ it.

Ya we’ve already had several cum town **struggle sessions** itt. It’s just contemporary Howard Stern. I love it. Ymmv

yeah i can get this. Street Fight boys were fun and very much in their element the one time i saw them live, prob better than on the pod (which i actually do like and listen to fairly regularly). also Bryan is Good At Twitter.

loled at an earlier ep when Felix made a joke like that and Matt just gave a sad "I, I don't really like movies like that"
― louise ck (milo z), Tuesday, 26 December 2017 18:09 (six years ago) link
my fave part was everyone cracking up at matt’s line about korean pro-gaming minutiae towards the end and virgil saying ‘i wrote that’ with quiet triumphbtw matt’s no cartridge interview a while back about why he hates gaming was rly good

just listened to Champagne Sharks CS55, about the housing/banking crash and ensuing bailout and what that has done to minority communities (including how it drove voter disenfranchisement). wow, it was just devastating. it really highlights how bullshit the whole "you can't talk about class" argument is.

I'm perfectly fine with mercilessly making fun of Garland as long as he goes after actual legit writers/journos

the ironic riffing on race & jews & uh intellectual disabilities
fucking unfathomable to me that in 2017 there's anything to "get" about schtick like this beyond "anybody doing it is an asshole"

I've never seen a Cum Town fan even attempt to mount a rigorous defense of its contents
― Simon H., Saturday, 30 December 2017 23:06 (six years ago) link
yeah i didn't mean for my earlier post to be construed as a defense. they are wholly indefensible. and yes, the race jokes et al definitely scan as asshole, but they kind of are actual "jokes", i.e. w/ a punchline etc, whereas lots of times the gay stuff is just them reveling in calling something or someone "gay".
It’s just contemporary Howard Stern
^yeah p much

― The Fortnightly Intruder (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Saturday, 6 January 2018 22:07 (six years ago) link
Long story short, as I understand it, Amber and select others didn't respond very.....tactfully when some members of the DSA disability working group claimed they were left out of the Medicare For All campaign initiative. (It turns out the M4A people just had the wrong contact info, lol)
― Simon H., Saturday, 6 January 2018 22:22 (six years ago) link
What's the full story
― flappy bird, Saturday, 6 January 2018 22:25 (six years ago) link
looking at fb she appeared to have responded to accusations of ableism with an excerpt from a Richard Wright book about how a legit-seeming newcomer to his local Communist Party chapter began attacking other members and making serious allegations against them, but then he turned out to be an escaped mental patient.

xp Replace the @ w/A and the last name is his twitter
― JoeStork, Saturday, 6 January 2018 23:16 (six years ago) link
ah ok i see. so basically M4A put something out without the input of the DSA's disabled contingent, those people got mad, then Amber went ott and basically said "haters gonna hate"? that sucks.
why are leftist/liberal organizations so much more prone to internecine battles like this? not saying it's not justified, but damn. bums me out. circular firing squad, etc.
― flappy bird, Saturday, 6 January 2018 23:55 (six years ago) link
Stuff like "Has Chapo even had a disabled person on as a guest? Lol" is not much more helpful than Amber.
― louise ck (milo z), Sunday, 7 January 2018 00:10 (six years ago) link
yeah, i was gonna say a person can be disabled and also an asshole. i know from experience. that twitter feed was just ridiculous, initial complaints aside. the escalation and calls for people to cancel their patreon subs? get over yourself...
― flappy bird, Sunday, 7 January 2018 00:14 (six years ago) link
I'm fully confident that there wasn't malice behind their inability to reach us. From what we understand, their contact information was incorrect, and they assumed we had just failed to reply when we never received the message.— DSA Disability WG (@DSADisability) January 6, 2018
