See you at five then. Ailsa, are Kylie's pants on or off?

Madchen, Sunday, 30 September 2007 10:58 (sixteen years ago) link

Will be there at some point, depending on Kylie's pants.

ailsa, Sunday, 30 September 2007 12:35 (sixteen years ago) link

RJG, Sunday, 30 September 2007 12:45 (sixteen years ago) link

Ronan will be around from about 7.

Alba, Sunday, 30 September 2007 14:17 (sixteen years ago) link

I'll be at West by 5.30.

Alba, Sunday, 30 September 2007 15:26 (sixteen years ago) link

i'll be there ... dunno. about 5.30, too. maybe slightly later.

grimly fiendish, Sunday, 30 September 2007 15:35 (sixteen years ago) link

Stet and I will be there by six.

Madchen, Sunday, 30 September 2007 16:00 (sixteen years ago) link

We may or may not be there later since I fell asleep and I just woke up feeling a bit groggy and West is MILES away.

ailsa, Sunday, 30 September 2007 16:04 (sixteen years ago) link

aw, howay. it's miles from me, too (okay, not as many miles, but still a few) but i am hoying there right now. come on ;)

grimly fiendish, Sunday, 30 September 2007 16:14 (sixteen years ago) link

sorry not to make this but so v. broke and I have work tomorrow

still hoping to come out for Kit's drink up on the 19th

Ward Fowler, Sunday, 30 September 2007 19:26 (sixteen years ago) link

who is kit?

jed_, Sunday, 30 September 2007 20:12 (sixteen years ago) link

kit = energy flash gordon

Ward Fowler, Sunday, 30 September 2007 22:16 (sixteen years ago) link

drink not on the 19th though, that's just grimly's predicted date for organisation! 20th at the Saracen Head seems to be a pencilled plan though. I'm plenty keen for additional or alternate FAPtimo on the 21st too.

energy flash gordon, Monday, 1 October 2007 03:25 (sixteen years ago) link

that was a top night. thank you all. good to meet you, ronan: haste ye back, and stuff.

how was optimo?

grimly fiendish, Monday, 1 October 2007 06:48 (sixteen years ago) link

Aye, good night everyone, cheers, next time I shall actually talk to Ronan rather shouting obscure bits of TV trivia down the table on request :-)

btw, grimly, yr Denise van Outen knobfest was called Something For The Weekend, I think, but didn't think you'd appreciate a text at 4 am telling you that...

ailsa, Monday, 1 October 2007 08:30 (sixteen years ago) link

That was the show where she had a quiz called Private Dicks, right? Where the girl had to pick her boyfriend out of a line of cocks disguised as detectives?

aldo, Monday, 1 October 2007 08:33 (sixteen years ago) link

Yes! We were talking about it in the pub last night, specifically about people recognising their partners by their knobs. There was a thinly disguised air of scepticism around the rest of the table.

ailsa, Monday, 1 October 2007 08:46 (sixteen years ago) link

That's pretty much the only thing I remember about the show. Wasn't it hauled off the air mid-series for being, well, crap?

BE SCEPTICAL ABOUT THIS, REST OF THE TABLE:

aldo, Monday, 1 October 2007 08:53 (sixteen years ago) link

It was quality pub chat all the way, as far as I remember. Good to see you, Ronan. Grimly, we didn't go.

Madchen, Monday, 1 October 2007 09:23 (sixteen years ago) link

btw: Lou and Andy from Little Britain in Neighbours.

(if I can (a) find it and (b) work out how to do it, Neil's appearance will go up there one day)

ailsa, Monday, 1 October 2007 13:19 (sixteen years ago) link

Marvellous! Second in the set: Pet Shop Boys

Just got back late last night.

Great to see everyone again, Glasgow has a great bunch of ILXors!

I didn't realise that that was you Ailsa, and your husband, until I read this thread! When I came in it was a big table and I didn't know if I could say "hey are you on ILX" to you in case you were just a friend of everyone else and thought I was a mental case.

So sorry for the confusion on that. Good to meet Stet and Simon too. I had fun, maybe Optimo another time.

Hopefully I'll be back soon, I really like Glasgow, being able to go out and then get a 5 minute taxi home is amazing.

Ronan, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 13:56 (sixteen years ago) link

sorry ronan, it was my birthday and i had already made plans for earlier in the evening. i didn't get around to optimo or much else after dinner.

jed_, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 16:40 (sixteen years ago) link

was it? a mightily happy belated birthday, jed_.

grimly fiendish, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 17:08 (sixteen years ago) link

thanks!

jed_, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 17:13 (sixteen years ago) link

well it was actually my birthday on saturday but i had my birthday dinner on sunday because my mum was in hospital for a minor thing until sunday afternoon.

jed_, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 17:15 (sixteen years ago) link

Yeah - late-o birthday wishes, jed. Great to see you again Ronan. Come over for Optimo whenever you like. I had an idea for another Guardian tech feature too - will email you!

Alba, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 20:02 (sixteen years ago) link

That'd be great, my full name as all one word @gmail.com is an address I use more often.

Ronan, Wednesday, 3 October 2007 10:24 (sixteen years ago) link

Right Glasgow, we have a mongrel and a farrell in attendance at Carter at the Barrowlands on Saturday. We need a plan for boozing. Please bear in mind that there is an Old Firm game on at lunchtime (at Ibrox), so Gallowgate boozers could be a touch iffy dependent on the result. I'm ruling the Saracen's Head out right now, also Mono because it sucks.

ailsa, Monday, 15 October 2007 10:00 (sixteen years ago) link

bah.

if it's not gonna be mono, then what was yr other suggestion ... bar 91? that's good by me.

grimly fiendish, Monday, 15 October 2007 11:57 (sixteen years ago) link

Bar 91 on Candleriggs seemed a good one, yes. What sort of time are we talking about? What time's the doors at, I would quite like to see support acts.

ailsa, Monday, 15 October 2007 12:01 (sixteen years ago) link

bah 91

RJG, Monday, 15 October 2007 12:05 (sixteen years ago) link

grimly fiendish, Monday, 15 October 2007 12:27 (sixteen years ago) link

er ... yeh, anyway ... who are the support acts? mega city 4? the senseless things? kingmaker? :)

grimly fiendish, Monday, 15 October 2007 12:28 (sixteen years ago) link

Chris T-T and the Frank and Walters :-)

ailsa, Monday, 15 October 2007 12:37 (sixteen years ago) link

I thought it was supposed to be Sultans of Ping?

onimo, Monday, 15 October 2007 12:40 (sixteen years ago) link

Sultans are supporting them in London.

ailsa, Monday, 15 October 2007 12:42 (sixteen years ago) link

Where's ma jaykit?

RJG, Monday, 15 October 2007 12:51 (sixteen years ago) link

fuxxake. i've seen SoPFC once in my life -- in 1992 -- and that was one time more than i'd like. they'd better not be doing any surprise glasgow appearances.

grimly fiendish, Monday, 15 October 2007 12:56 (sixteen years ago) link

ask chris t-t to sing that song about how nuclear bullets give children cancer!

it's er interesting

ken c, Monday, 15 October 2007 12:59 (sixteen years ago) link

and the one about the hedgehog

ken c, Monday, 15 October 2007 12:59 (sixteen years ago) link

nominate other places ludicrously close to the Barrowlands? the venue, train station and my hostel all seem to be within a penny's roll of each other, would be amusing to not leave a couple of blocks space in the first 24 hours there.

I'm good for anywhere from 4pm on, def want to see Frank & Walters but as long as they play This Is Not A Song last am not panicked about getting in on time.

also: Ward, if you can't make it, are Sunday or Monday any better for a quieter meet-up?

energy flash gordon, Monday, 15 October 2007 13:49 (sixteen years ago) link

hang on, woah, were you being serious about the F&W, ailsa? GOD FUCKING DAMN! i hope they play all the po-faced stuff from the later albums. heh.

but i'll settle for the happy busman and fashion crisis, natch.

4pm might be a bit early ... some time between 5 and 6 is more likely for me. EFG: be warned, glasgow FAPs have a habit of starting at least an hour later than the advertised time.

grimly fiendish, Monday, 15 October 2007 13:56 (sixteen years ago) link

Yes, I was being serious about the Frank and Walters. Where are you staying, EFG? Still waiting on Andrew to let me know what time he's getting in at. I shall be ruinously early in pub due to football, but should take some time off between that and afternoon/evening drinking.

ailsa, Monday, 15 October 2007 13:59 (sixteen years ago) link

i bet you don't :)

grimly fiendish, Monday, 15 October 2007 14:00 (sixteen years ago) link

doors are at 7, according to the handy reminder e-mail i just got from ticketbastard.
