Well that may as yet be Robitaille or Blake

Seems weird to say Brown is the best LA player of all time when Gretzky played on that team.

husked, tonal wails (irrational), Friday, 29 December 2017 15:44 (six years ago) link

Gretzky had some fine years in LA, but was also hobbled by injuries. got his team to the finals once and lost (Hrudey in goal, so i realize this this may not be fair). His best years were in Edm though.
Robitaille is my fave King all-time so i don't discount him at all, but DB is such a complete player. I've never seen anybody else lay big clean hits on people while in the same motion turn a fine offensive play the way he does. And he does it everyday. And he's captained 2 cup-winning teams.

this is nice, but maybe the bruins should have tried not falling to the ice and flailing whenever seguin came near them

half hoping the golden knights win the cup so all gm lose their jobs this summer.

you can make an argument for each individual move (well, not the dan girardi signing) but tampa's long-term strategy of acquiring former rangers seems questionable

mookieproof, Tuesday, 27 February 2018 01:43 (six years ago) link

720 seconds.

That’s how long it took to hit our goal of 10,000 deposits.

We’re now at 25,000 and counting.

Thank you, Seattle.#NHLSeattle

I'm becoming increasingly convinced that Quebec City is not going to get an NHL team anytime soon.

mookieproof, Wednesday, 7 March 2018 17:03 (six years ago) link

wouldn't mind seattle getting a team tbh

it would create a cool rivalry with vancouver

but more importantly, it would add pressure on vancouver to get it's motherfucking act together otherwise the nhl would pull the canucks out of the city like the nba did with the grizzlies

mookieproof, Wednesday, 14 March 2018 00:26 (six years ago) link

Met a friend for a movie tonight, a movie we knew would be silly and was just an excuse to get together. Late in the afternoon, someone he knew messaged that he had an extra ticket for the Leaf game; my friend passed, not wanting to cancel and not having any way to get in touch with me anyway (I don't have a cell phone).

Later, as we left the movie, I said something like "Hopefully the Leafs didn't come back from six goals and win in a shootout."

7/7 is an honest days work

i would never want the emergency-goalie-off-the-street thing to change -- it is awesome -- but it's kind of a weird cop-out?

i mean if a baseball team runs out of pitchers or catchers it's not like they can pull dudes out of the crowd. go tell one of your healthy scratches to put some pads on

mookieproof, Friday, 30 March 2018 17:33 (six years ago) link

love hockey

this was so awesome

F# A# (∞), Friday, 30 March 2018 18:01 (six years ago) link

I know this guy probably gives zero shits and I'm only picking on this because it's the Blackhawks but really? $0? That's shitty. They're getting so much positive PR out of this, I hope they do something for him (beyond free food, games, and a jersey).

https://twitter.com/darrenrovell/status/979777172331261954: What the Blackhawks had to pay Scott Foster, the accountant who was the first emergency backup goalie to ever get ice time. Last night, Foster saved 7 shots on 7 tries in 14 minutes of action vs Jets. CBA states Foster’s deal with team was a “tryout.” pic.twitter.com/aEP5lODZU8

however, i do feel it's a good time for this

To say that the Sedins enjoyed a good run would be a bit of an understatement.
