it's actually a bizarre review to look at all of those bookmarks that stacked up over--how many years since bookmarks became a thing?

two weeks pass...

Here's a bug:

When you follow the link in this message to the other thread:

rolling twee/indiepop 2k18: sweaters never go out of style

...that thread will load from "ilxor.com" not "www.ilxor.com" which will mean user cookies won't load and login won't work.

Somehow, the redirect to 'www.ilxor.com' didn't happen.

fajita seas, Monday, 29 January 2018 03:11 (six years ago) link

Yeah, that's a known thing -- it just means the person who posted the link is on ilxor.com -- we don't try to redirect those (though probably should tbh)

just use relative links, leave the hostname out of the url.

koogs, Monday, 29 January 2018 13:14 (six years ago) link

(ilx should when it creates the link, not the individual posters)

koogs, Monday, 29 January 2018 13:15 (six years ago) link

this isn't a big deal, but any idea why this image shows up even if you have images off (or are logged out)?

I'll take a look, sleepingbag. For now, does typing / first help?

stet, Thursday, 1 March 2018 19:46 (six years ago) link

nah, typing / doesn't work. this isn't a big deal really i don't know why i asked :/ my forums experience is overall a+ great. i'd say don't sweat it unless it's literally like one-click easy. thank you!

one month passes...

I get poxy fule error when I post Twitter links in my phone's chrome browser. Don't get this on other devices.

Mario Meatwagon (Moodles), Saturday, 14 April 2018 19:09 (six years ago) link

Nevermind, figured it out. The Twitter app on my phone adds some extra characters to its tweet links that ILX doesn't like. Deleted them and post worked.

Mario Meatwagon (Moodles), Saturday, 14 April 2018 19:13 (six years ago) link

^ thanks for that, you've solved the same problem for me

the salacious inaudible (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Sunday, 15 April 2018 21:12 (six years ago) link

i keep getting broken image links (firefox, linux, probably others) usually embeds from twitter and imgur. the src looks ok and the link works when clicked on but it doesn't show up inline.

here's one (twitter):

here's another (imgur):

bear say hi to me

koogs, Monday, 16 April 2018 19:02 (six years ago) link

the bear say hi to me imgur link posted by latham green is broken just because it points to an imgur album rather than an individual imgur image

oh, it's not any more.

Heavy Messages (jed_), Friday, 20 April 2018 18:43 (six years ago) link

It'll do that if you visit a page which has an image posted that is hosted on an http site

stet, Friday, 20 April 2018 19:30 (six years ago) link

ah, i see.

Heavy Messages (jed_), Friday, 20 April 2018 19:51 (six years ago) link

this has probably been asked 000's of times but...

what order are my bookmarks in? it seems so random.

Heavy Messages (jed_), Friday, 27 April 2018 22:45 (five years ago) link

I'm afraid it was over ten years ago I did it and I can't remember. My immediate reaction was that it would be coming out just exactly as it's stored in the database, but that's ordered by message board and then by the thread ID (just in order of the thread age), but they're not showing like that, so not sure. I could go back and look at the code, but if it's okay with you C, I can't be arsed at the moment.

UPDATE: I have just been arsed, and it gets the stuff from the database, which would be ordered by message board, but it then sticks them in to a hash table, which means that it's pretty much indeterminate what order they will be read out from.

Keith, Monday, 30 April 2018 22:19 (five years ago) link

If I'd stuck them in a list, rather than a hash table, then they would have come out in the same order as the database. It's that it is a hash table that makes it pretty much random. Can't remember why I did it that way, but there was most likely a reason, just lost in the mists of time and I really can't be arsed going and figured out why.

Keith, Monday, 30 April 2018 22:23 (five years ago) link

linkedhashmap would work, eh

mh, Monday, 30 April 2018 23:14 (five years ago) link

so much arsing
