Brandon Lewis is the new front-runner for Party Chairman. He actually seems like a bigger twat than Chris Grayling, if that is possible, so definitely qualified for the job.

literally couldn't run the proverbial piss-up, this lot. Everything they do is chaotic and farcical.

calzino, Monday, 8 January 2018 12:17 (six years ago) link

is Grayling a Kipper?

not raving but droning (Noodle Vague), Monday, 8 January 2018 12:46 (six years ago) link

he did share a platform with Farage during the referendum campaign.

calzino, Monday, 8 January 2018 12:57 (six years ago) link

what with him and Rudd in senior posts May could be making a rod for her own back

either one could try and knock her off her perch

the usual foul tench of Tory in-fighting

not raving but droning (Noodle Vague), Monday, 8 January 2018 12:59 (six years ago) link

You'd think they might try and sort this shit out first, then announce it. But it is all conducted on the fly as usual.

calzino, Monday, 8 January 2018 13:06 (six years ago) link

what can you expect from these political minnows?

not raving but droning (Noodle Vague), Monday, 8 January 2018 13:09 (six years ago) link

they're certainly no dab hands at Twitter

Thomas NAGL (Neil S), Monday, 8 January 2018 13:09 (six years ago) link

Grayling is widely reputed to be the least competent minister in a very crowded field, I always thought that party chairman was one of those roles they bump you up into because they know you can't do too much damage there.

Matt DC, Monday, 8 January 2018 13:22 (six years ago) link

he's obviously holding out for one of the great offices of state

Thomas NAGL (Neil S), Monday, 8 January 2018 13:22 (six years ago) link

he's thick af

calzino, Monday, 8 January 2018 14:07 (six years ago) link

Grayling makes me think of a barely sentient middle management drone, that many people would gladly murder.

calzino, Monday, 8 January 2018 14:20 (six years ago) link

Mmm, I remember a year or two back the media gave Corbyn untold grief for 'bungling' a reshuffle, and all the complaints seemed to amount to was the press not getting spoon-fed the announcements at a time of their choosing. Dunno if similar is going on here.

Obviously, I don't actually care if May is being treated unfairly, I mean, fuck her

But doctor, I am Camille Paglia (Bananaman Begins), Monday, 8 January 2018 14:30 (six years ago) link

tbf I don't think Corbs tweeted the name of a new appointment and then had to pull it cos it was wrong

not raving but droning (Noodle Vague), Monday, 8 January 2018 14:34 (six years ago) link

tbf I don't think Theresa May is personally responsible for everybody in the Tory party being useless

not raving but droning (Noodle Vague), Monday, 8 January 2018 14:34 (six years ago) link

The fact that any career movements within the party are different-wedges-of-support jenga rather than in any way based on competence probably isn't helping.

Andrew Farrell, Monday, 8 January 2018 14:44 (six years ago) link

It's like the letters falling off at the conference, there will probably be an attempt at spinning sympathy for her having to work with a load of hopeless schmucks

But doctor, I am Camille Paglia (Bananaman Begins), Monday, 8 January 2018 14:44 (six years ago) link

I mean, the lack of Liam Fox's head rotting on a spike isn't helping either.

Breaking: the reshuffle's big shock - Jeremy Hunt refused a move to BEIS to insist he stay on as Health Sec with a beefed up brief of social care too. https://t.co/9zrScUDg19

gyac, Monday, 8 January 2018 17:10 (six years ago) link

The reshuffle is now in serious trouble. Hunt was supposed to emerge from No10 as the new Business Secretary. Appears Greg Clark has refused to budge.

I wonder which lucky person gets Sec of State for Work and Pensions. Repping for Universal Credit probably isn't much fun, but cheer up you won't last more than 6 months.
