It would bring a certain kind of satisfaction if he actually did successfully get Congress to change libel laws... and then spent his entire post-presidential life embroiled in lawsuit after lawsuit from everybody he's ever lied about.

He honestly doesn't recognize himself as the most brazen offender wrt the behavior he's denouncing because said behavior is only a transgression (and possibly only exists) when he perceives himself as having been the victim of the transgression (which, as in this case, is often not even a real instance of the transgression he himself is way more guilty of having committed).
