so this means the one I voted for got more than one vote!
― Dan S, Friday, 12 January 2018 19:44 (six years ago) link
My guess for worst on ilx would be Vincent Gallo
― ♫ very clever with maracas.jpg ♫ (Le Bateau Ivre), Friday, 12 January 2018 19:46 (six years ago) link
Stephen Daldry was my vote. He's not quite .000, though I haven't seen Billy Elliot in a long while so maybe I will revise that opinion.
― Fred Klinkenberg (Eric H.), Friday, 12 January 2018 19:47 (six years ago) link
ffs if I voted for Gaspar Noe instead, I could have at least put him in 2nd place.
― calzino, Friday, 12 January 2018 19:47 (six years ago) link
I honestly don't know who the top/bottom 2 are gonna be(I voted Ritchie, not v inspired but my whole ballot was kinda thrown together & I forgot about the worst thing till the last second)Agree about tom ford btw
― very stabbable gaius (wins), Friday, 12 January 2018 19:47 (six years ago) link
LVT has those eurotroll tendencies that are The Worst but he has done stuff I like/love, noé I just cannot take seriously
― very stabbable gaius (wins), Friday, 12 January 2018 19:49 (six years ago) link
Noé, Tarantino, Spielberg, Ford, Landis, Shyamalan all good calls tbf

I heard some damning material on UK film hacks on the R4 movie show the other day: First an in-depth examination of Baby Driver's soundtrack. Followed by an interview with the artist behind 3 Billboards explaining his art. Would have voted for either of them after listening to that nightmare.
― calzino, Friday, 12 January 2018 19:52 (six years ago) link
haven't see Baby Driver yet and know nothing about it, but more than one person has told me they thought I would like it because of the soundtrack
― Dan S, Friday, 12 January 2018 19:53 (six years ago) link
How very "Blueshammer defense."
― Fred Klinkenberg (Eric H.), Friday, 12 January 2018 19:55 (six years ago) link
Fellini was indeed my reflexive answer for "worst." But that just means his temperament is not mine. Most everything I've seen--seven or eight films--left me cold, including a few attempts at 8-1/2. I did like La Dolce Vita the one time I saw it.

yeah didn't realise before voting it existed. might have voted nicholas roeg.― plax (ico), Friday, January 12, 2018 1:47 PM (eight minutes ago) Bookmark Flag Post Permalinkomg...― flappy bird, Friday, January 12, 2018 6:56 PM (fifty-seven minutes ago) Bookmark Flag Post Permalink
reminds me that when I was in college I told a friend who was the head of the film society how much I liked Don’t Look Now. He said that he thought the 10 worst movies of all time were Don’t Look Now and any 9 Godard films
― Dan S, Friday, 12 January 2018 19:58 (six years ago) link
i voted brett ratner
― Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 12 January 2018 20:00 (six years ago) link
X-Men 3 is on par with the first two tbh

And, with a robust two votes each, here are the directors tied as ILX's worst:
Terrence Malick

Tune in next week to see which places any of those 18 directors earn in the actual list!
Oh yeah. I guess those two are unsurprising but yawn
― very stabbable gaius (wins), Friday, 12 January 2018 20:30 (six years ago) link
Those aren't the two worst directors.
― mfktz (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Friday, 12 January 2018 20:38 (six years ago) link
great gif choices
― LLAMAS ARE FOR CLOSERS (WilliamC), Friday, 12 January 2018 20:42 (six years ago) link
I voted for John "Lower, lower" Landis, whose direction was so bad that it killed people.
― adam the (abanana), Friday, 12 January 2018 21:26 (six years ago) link
I pity the Spielberg voter btw
― ice cream social justice (Dr Morbius), Friday, 12 January 2018 22:17 (six years ago) link
I went with M Shamanalahahlayaya. I support everyone’s decision on worst director though.
― Jeff, Friday, 12 January 2018 22:29 (six years ago) link
Not that anyone was worried, but I assure you, none of these votes factor in as negative votes in the main poll.
― Fred Klinkenberg (Eric H.), Friday, 12 January 2018 22:29 (six years ago) link
ie Oscar Micheaux in the top 10
(better than every blaxploitation director ever btw)

ok i was one of the Nolans fuck him he is the worst
― coombespair gaz prices (Noodle Vague), Friday, 12 January 2018 23:26 (six years ago) link
Nolan was my vote too. Can’t say it was anything other than an emotional response. There are plenty of directors make overwrought films that I really like, but he is not one of them
― Dan S, Saturday, 13 January 2018 00:20 (six years ago) link
I was one of the Malick votes. Surprised he got more than one! and fwiw the one film of his I sorta like is Days of Heaven.
― flappy bird, Saturday, 13 January 2018 02:09 (six years ago) link
xpI have to say though, I did see Dunkirk since I voted, and it was the first film of his that I kind of liked
Days of Heaven is one of my favorite movies of all time
― Dan S, Saturday, 13 January 2018 02:11 (six years ago) link
My knowledge of blaxsploitation is anything but comprehensive, but I do not remember ever experiencing 1) cringing or 2) boredom while watching any such title. For what that's worth.

how could anyone dislike Bad Timing, a movie about an extremely healthy relationship between two people with good opinions and habits?
― flappy bird, Sunday, 14 January 2018 01:06 (six years ago) link
yeah plax, Bad Timing and Man Who Fell are fine with me
