Certainly, people who are in the midst of a fierce battle against oppression and terror, with plentiful deaths and thousands of casualties, require hope for the future or they'd never lay their life and their bodies on the line. But hope was not the end goal, just the fuel that drove the unimaginably hard work the movement was doing.
