Tosun/ Bolasie/ Walcott/ Sigurdsson isn’t that bad as a front four on paper tbh and I’m confident they’ll do ok in most games in the remaining fifteen minutes after Rooney has been subbed.

Wag1 Shree Rajneesh (ShariVari), Tuesday, 16 January 2018 12:51 (six years ago) link

They've got Schneiderlin withering away there too.

♫ very clever with maracas.jpg ♫ (Le Bateau Ivre), Tuesday, 16 January 2018 12:57 (six years ago) link

That one game when they play Walcott and Lennon together is going to be crazy.

Matt DC, Tuesday, 16 January 2018 14:22 (six years ago) link

ha i presume this will pave the way for sad photos of aaron lennon at the brittania

nxd, Tuesday, 16 January 2018 14:22 (six years ago) link

Poch response to real speculation is a lot less firm than usual

remember the lmao (darraghmac), Tuesday, 16 January 2018 14:33 (six years ago) link

looks like we have a little sánchez-mkhitaryan-aubameyang circle of transfers too

nxd, Tuesday, 16 January 2018 14:35 (six years ago) link

xp That'd be a risky choice: my back-of-an-envelope reckoning is that, of all the managers Aaron Lennon has played under before Allardyce, only Martinez is currently managing a team.

Tim, Tuesday, 16 January 2018 14:43 (six years ago) link

I'm not even joking when I say Walcott would unequivocally improve that Everton team, but what's the deal with Ademola Lookman?

Matt DC, Tuesday, 16 January 2018 14:49 (six years ago) link

riotously talented free spirit with iffy teamwork

#TeamHailing (imago), Tuesday, 16 January 2018 14:52 (six years ago) link

Why are there so many reports about Chelsea bidding for Andy Carroll?

Matt DC, Tuesday, 16 January 2018 16:22 (six years ago) link

Sorry NV, ya boy Locadia - who's move to Wolves was blocked at the last minute last summer - is off to Brighton for about € 16m.

♫ very clever with maracas.jpg ♫ (Le Bateau Ivre), Thursday, 18 January 2018 21:23 (six years ago) link

can't believe we're too tight to pay that

hell is auteur people (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 18 January 2018 21:24 (six years ago) link

That's what I was thinking. He's had a good first half of the season for us up until he got injured (still is but not serious). Maybe his buddy Pröpper being at Brighton since the summer (also PSV) had something to do with it.

Though in all honesty I think Wolves are just aiming higher atm.

♫ very clever with maracas.jpg ♫ (Le Bateau Ivre), Thursday, 18 January 2018 21:35 (six years ago) link

i think we're not going to splurge this window, there shdn't be any need to rush into deals but if we don't sign at least a couple more potential first teamers i think some of our fans will get stupid

again

hell is auteur people (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 18 January 2018 21:36 (six years ago) link

What's going on at Chelsea?

Carroll, Crouch & Llorente seem somewhat odd targets. They must be desperate for some sort of aerial attack

groovypanda, Friday, 19 January 2018 07:53 (six years ago) link

supposed to have offered Roma cash + Batshuayi for Dzeko too

Number None, Friday, 19 January 2018 08:02 (six years ago) link

the thing is though, Morata is at his most effective by far in the air

most headed goals in the league iirc

Number None, Friday, 19 January 2018 08:03 (six years ago) link

Something very weird is going on at Chelsea. Putting City's complete dominance to the side, their title defence has been really quite limp and no one really seems to give a shit. Maybe the defeat to Burnley on the opening day of the season just managed expectations, but I can just see them trundling to a fifth place finish, at which point everyone shrugs, Conte leaves and Abramovich gives his successor another £300m.

Matt DC, Friday, 19 January 2018 08:09 (six years ago) link

Those targets just scream 'short term fix that won't unsettle Morata'. They need someone as backup given that Batshuayi clearly doesn't have Conte's trust but Dzeko is the only one you can see doing anything vaguely worthwhile there. They were sniffing around Llorente last summer but I don't know why we'd let him go without anyone else on the horizon.

Not going for Sanchez suggests reduced expectations as well.

Matt DC, Friday, 19 January 2018 08:13 (six years ago) link

and as for letting matic go to united

faust apes (NickB), Friday, 19 January 2018 08:18 (six years ago) link

Not sure I see Dzeko going from being Serie A’s top scorer last season (with the same number of league goals as Kane) to happily playing back-up to Morata.

Wag1 Shree Rajneesh (ShariVari), Friday, 19 January 2018 08:30 (six years ago) link

Yeah I meant the three Premiership strikers really. Andy Carroll makes no sense at all and looks like it may actually happen.

Matt DC, Friday, 19 January 2018 08:32 (six years ago) link

Andy Carroll, the white Drogba

hell is auteur people (Noodle Vague), Friday, 19 January 2018 08:44 (six years ago) link

I'd assume they want an English player who hasn't played in the Champions League this season, which throws up junk like Rooney and Austin, players they've already sold or sent out on loan - like Solanke and Abraham - or a handful like Vardy / Wilson who'd probably cost a lot more.

Wag1 Shree Rajneesh (ShariVari), Friday, 19 January 2018 08:50 (six years ago) link

I'm sure he'd be a sensation at Oxford Utd, but fucking Chelsea just reaffirms my strong belief that hair weaves do actually affect brainwave activity, or put more simply: never trust a wiggy bastard.

calzino, Friday, 19 January 2018 08:52 (six years ago) link

just thinking I've never seen Russell Slade and Conte in the same room.

calzino, Friday, 19 January 2018 09:08 (six years ago) link

I haven't noticed Charlie Austin for years but is he really a worse option than Andy Carroll?

Matt DC, Friday, 19 January 2018 09:17 (six years ago) link

Luckily I sold all my bitcoin last month and bought Emile heskey

remember the lmao (darraghmac), Friday, 19 January 2018 09:19 (six years ago) link

Austin is out with a hamstring injury and pending 3 match suspension to follow, so probably not turning heads for managers looking for short term fixes in this window. But he'd still be a better option than that donkey.

calzino, Friday, 19 January 2018 09:24 (six years ago) link

For all the stick Mourinho gets for being boring, this Chelsea team are generally much worse to watch. When Hazard's not on it, there's just nothing there

Number None, Friday, 19 January 2018 09:31 (six years ago) link

ah lennon off to burnley instead
hopefully he won't take the place of johann berg gudmundsson >:(

Marco Silva has been sacked, which looks like a bizarre decision unless he’s was planning an exit strategy to take over from Allardyce.

Huh

They haven't been great lately so either they've got someone lined up and it's just Watford being Watford or something's happened behind the scenes.

Quite amusing to imagine how the Stoke board must be feeling right now.

Matt DC, Sunday, 21 January 2018 10:39 (six years ago) link

tbf they have five points from the last ten games but they have been much better this season than anyone could have reasonably expected.

The theory seems to be that he is being courted by Everton and wasn’t allowed to leave - but still wants to in the summer - so has stopped trying but idk.

Wag1 Shree Rajneesh (ShariVari), Sunday, 21 January 2018 10:41 (six years ago) link

i was thinking yesterday they're in a slump but maybe we're going to replace Nuno after losing 2 games on the bounce

i am a skinematographer (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 21 January 2018 10:57 (six years ago) link

Watford Football Club has parted company with Marco Silva.

This has been a difficult decision and one not taken lightly. The Club is convinced the appointment of Silva was the right one and had it not been for the unwarranted approach by a Premier League rival for his services we would have continued to prosper under his leadership.

The catalyst for this decision is that unwarranted approach, something which the Board believes has seen a significant deterioration in both focus and results to the point where the long-term future of Watford FC has been jeopardised.

For the security and success of the football club, the Board believes it has to make a change.

The Club will seek to make a swift appointment and there will be no further comment until that appointment has been made.

Awful and had been coming.

Wag1 Shree Rajneesh (ShariVari), Sunday, 21 January 2018 16:16 (six years ago) link

Third time Southampton had the opportunity to flash a ball across basically unchallenged.

Good job Southampton can’t defend either though.
