ah, in case of not being experienced, some CBD drops in advance (they have to be digested, and you need to take a fairly hefty amount - like 20-30mg+ of CBD at once) to dull possible anxiety from the THC is probably advisable.

brimstead otm x100, just waited 20 mins behind a bunch of basics asking stupid stupid questions so that I could pay $70 for an eighth and a joint (in fancy bourgeoise packaging) which was then slapped with a 20% tax by the city (and i had to pay $3 for a childproof security bag)

I regret voting for legalization

the late great, Friday, 2 February 2018 03:52 (six years ago) link

I mean not really because fuck the drug war and the prison industry but this is wack

when i was in Oregon prices were low and quality was high - maybe it will just take awhile for the market to adjust

the late great, Friday, 2 February 2018 03:54 (six years ago) link

Tempting to say just decriminalize it and wipe convictions instead of the regulatory processes but let's be honest about what unregulated capital would do with weed products. There'd be a higher percentage of DDT than THC.

louise ck (milo z), Friday, 2 February 2018 04:11 (six years ago) link

i should shut up, american spirits cost like $10 here now so it's not like a 20% vice tax is that out of line w/ everything else, and the product is higher quality ...

the late great, Friday, 2 February 2018 04:21 (six years ago) link

delivery services are getting very popular, probably because they're dodging the taxes and passing on the savings to the consumer. wonder how that's going to get shut down?

the late great, Friday, 2 February 2018 04:24 (six years ago) link

xp to Jon: you really need to hang out with me sometime soon. I will explain things.

tlg 70 for an eighth is outrageous, ounces are on special for 100 here in Oregon

I think you're right that is is a new market/supply + demand issue, hopefully things will get better. the childproof bags are so wasteful!

sleeve, Friday, 2 February 2018 05:07 (six years ago) link

yeah it is! i think you can get good quality ounces for like $199 if you use a delivery service. i should shop around more.

because of zoning laws + permit uncertainty there are only like 5-10 legal dispensaries in a county of 3 million right now, that's probably contributing to the situation

the late great, Friday, 2 February 2018 05:14 (six years ago) link

it took like 2 years for the price to settle down here in CO, it used to be like 200+/ounce for okay weed or 350+ for good stuff right after amendment 64 passed, nowadays i got a place i go to down the street that has great herb for 130/ounce.

you still get hosed at least a bit everywhere for buying, say, an eighth rather than a full ounce, but i mean a whole ounce is a lot of weed... i go through prolly close to an ounce a month btwn myself + smoking out friends and clients, i should write this shit off lol

"The DEA said a huge percentage of the heroin addiction starts with prescriptions. That may be an exaggerated number..they had it as high as 80% . we think a lot of this is starting with marijuana and other drugs..but we'll see what the facts show"

hey now don't start worrying yourself with things like facts

(•̪●) (carne asada), Wednesday, 7 February 2018 18:20 (six years ago) link

spinning around til you get dizzy is a gateway "drug"
if you get into heroin, you're likely to be at least willing to try any and all other drugs. It's like saying baby food is a gateway to foie gras.

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Wednesday, 7 February 2018 18:27 (six years ago) link

They screwed up not cracking down on day one, I'm actually starting to get hopeful that the political mood has solidified for some version of decriminalization or legalization just about everywhere that rolling it back would have consequences.

louise ck (milo z), Wednesday, 7 February 2018 18:30 (six years ago) link

blaming weed for opiate addiction is like blaming the home baking industry for national obesity.

one month passes...

He's smart to recognize that legal pot will be easier to control than illegal pot, and be a net revenue generator, not a prison-crowding drain on the state budget. Also smart to want to get NJ up and running before NY gets onto the legalization bandwagon. Let's hope NJ's citizens are equally smart.

New Jersey Responsible Approaches to Marijuana Policy, a group that opposes marijuana, said Tuesday that the tax revenues from legal pot "pale in comparison to the ... lost tourism dollars"

How does that work?

three weeks pass...

https://www.clickondetroit.com/news/michigan-lawmakers-consider-legalizing-medical-marijuana-before-november-ballot

There's enough signatures that legalization will probably be on the ballot this fall, and will probably pass. So the republican state government is talking about legalizing before that, so they can reduce voter turnout in November (where there just so happens to be an anti-gerrymandering bill on the ballot).

joygoat, Friday, 6 April 2018 17:09 (six years ago) link

that's so fucked, just that transparent awareness, "more people voting is bad for us"

seems like the various cannabis bills that come out of state legislatures are often worse than the ballot initiatives

all that said it would be really great to have some legal cannabis in the midwest

THREAD: It’s official. Today, I am formally announcing my plan to decriminalize marijuana at the federal level. It’s time we allow states, once and for all, to have the power to decide what works best for them.

flamenco drop (BradNelson), Friday, 20 April 2018 16:26 (five years ago) link

since this is the thread that happens to be bumped:

i'm a couple of months into taking sublingual MMJ tincture for my Crohn's disease, under the NY program.

First month was a high CBD/low THC ratio. One 0.5ml dropper syringe in the morning, one at night. I did not see an effect on my baseline after a month (was pretty compliant on the dosing - only missed one dose during that time).

On my return visit to the union square dispensary, talked with the pharmacist and she wanted to try me on 1:1 ratio for a month (2.5mg THC, 2.5 mg CBD per dose, one in the morning one at night).

The 1:1 did help, but only after I got to the third week, had a mini-flareup, and tried a double dose that morning. The double dose knocked out my flareup symptoms and seemed to lead into a period of stability for several days following, even though I went back to my regular dosing after the 2x one. Had another mini flare the next week, did the same thing, same result.

Came back to dispensary this Monday and shared my experience; they advised that based on this I ought to keep taking the 2.5mg/2.5mg 2x/day as my standard, but double it when I get noticeably symptomatic.

So I feel hopeful about where my baseline will be after a few months of this. The only thing is, when I take a double dose I definitely feel lightly baked, in contrast to the regular dose which doesn't SEEM to have any psychoactivity for me.

Here's a side question though: I'm supposed to drive to Boston tomorrow, drive back the next day. Driving is not part of my daily obv. SHOULD I be driving while taking a 1:1 sublingual tincture? Every resource just tells me to 'take time to be aware how medical marijuana affects you before driving'. Thanks. I don't think it's out of the question that my regular dose might produce a slight diminishment of reaction time, even though I don't feel high on it...?

as a fellow Crohn's sufferer, I'm wondering what you consider to be a mini flare-up?

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Friday, 20 April 2018 16:51 (five years ago) link

yeah i know that can mean a lot of things to a lot of people!

gas-like abdominal cramps/roiling, a felt need to get stuff out coupled with everything being kind of tense/seized up so that I'm making lots of minimally productive trips to the bathroom, enervation, bone-deep depression wave, feeling of fever without a temperature

pretty much sums it up

I guess I say 'mini' if I don't have to go to the ER and there's no blood, lol

I lived in WA, 8 miles from Idaho, for years and there were always at least half ID plates in the weed store parking lots. Since I left there’s a new store half a mile over the border inside Washington as a giant middle finger to Idaho.

If they wanted to the cops could spend all day every day busting people but I really think they just sort of gave up.
