Bummed I didn't nominate some stuff - loved - Resurgency - No Worlds... Nor Gods Beyond , Bufihimat - I , Droid - Terrestrial Mutations, Slow - V - Oceans , Sutrah - Dunes , Madrost - The Essence of Time Matches No Flesh , Toxic Shock - TWENTYLASTCENTURY - but, alas, they weren't listed.

well people requested longer voting times and wanted the year to end so all albums that came out in december got in. And seandalai can only do it before xmas or after big poll.

as it turned out with my mum being in hospital for 2 weeks in december there wouldve been no way i couldve run it and simon wouldve been left on his own

No big deal! Good year for metal - there were a lot of records I really liked a re-visited many times that all made my top 50. I'll rep those missing ones though - esp. the Resurgency.

Perhaps we might naughtily speculate about which metal albums will appear in the 77 next week

I dont expect any except maybe Chelsea Wolfe. Anything else would be a surprise. Qotsa might not make it because of Josh kicking that photographer, I dont think ILM is prepared to put music on its own after some horrible behaviour like that. I did vote for it but I did want to put in brackets Josh was a knob after it.

Electric Wizard wasn't even nominated for the big poll.

I suppose Jute Gyte might get in since less votes might be needed and his usual 5 voters amongst us might sneak him in

Has there been any debut albums by bands that have made an impact this year?
Most of the big impact albums I can think of this year are by established acts or related to big bands (Pillorian, avatarium,Au champ des morts)

The Tchornobog debut has gotten a lot of love critically.

Anyone who likes the 90s Norwegian school of avant-garde/post-black metal should hear Urarv's debut. Aldrahn on vox and guitar!

Godflesh, WITTR = meh

Mastodon Not heard, but I haven't liked anything else that they've done after Crack the Skye so I assume it's pretty lame

Just missed my main ballot but I think Elder might be one of the best rock bands out there rn. I'm holding out meager hope that their album and/or Botanist and/or Ex Eye might scrape the lower reaches of the countdown. Obv Jute Gyte as well...

remember the year we tried a tracks poll and hardly anyone voted? I thought it was a shame it didn't work out.

I was just wondering the other day why there were no tracks poll... Then again I'm not a tracks person myself and my ballot would likely have 3 items top. Doesn't mean I wouldn't be interested if others started to list their favorite tracks in this thread or elsewhere.

Voted. So Power Trip (#65) was the top metal/rock album on Pazz & Jop, followed by Elder (83) and QOTSA (86). No other results available.

Yeah to Black Cilice! That album made my main ballot, all the driney mystique of the previous album but mych more chilling priduction and those vocals!

Another way super lo-fi black metal album I've bern getting into--though its nowhere near as visceral, a lit more synths--is Rubedo Nocturno. I think you can only find it on soundcloud tho

Voted. As far as campaigning -- everyone should listen to the Spectral Voice album, which is a perfectly idiomatic example of spooky, doomy death. Atmospheric in places, crushing in others. The whole vibe is spot on.

never heard of Psodouku until now, but it's fun after 2 tracks! Kind of Melt Banana-ish? Also, I sincerely hope the name is a combination of Psyopus and Sudoku.
