was finally on a marginally functional team and in a playoff race for the first time too

pelis are cursed

this becomes a nasty decision for their front office as far as paying a guy coming off a very bad injury.

Careers and franchises can change in the snap of a finger. I was looking forward to seeing them in the offs. Think they couldve put a scare into some good teams.

this is also bad news for the clippers who won't do the smart thing and blow it up now bc they'll likely slide into the 8th spot

he's always gonna have warts that mar his game but he had grown into an absolute one of a kind player, the way his game had evolved at that size is not normal. big loss for the league imo.

i mean no one on our team can score, but we already have enough chronic injury issues and there's no one on the team i'd give up for a IT2 rental.

a. hes not chronically injured and b. at this point they cld prob resign him at a reasonable rate c. hes been known to be a total bitch on fucked up teams but was a model citizen on the spurs east

its actually pretty hard to find a spot for him on a contender given current salary cap realities

when he went to the heat its was all set up ahead of time, then when he went back to cleve it was the perfect situation with good young players on cheap contracts and assets to trade to fortify the team

ariza is coming off the books so it would mean saying bye to him. capela is going to be a RFA, but they dont need to renounce him to afford him.

if bron opts into his last year, they could do what they did to get cp3 by trading equal salaries (ryan anderson + eric gordon + whatever).

morey does a good job of gettig bench players on the cheap, but that is a v v thin roster after cp3-harden-bron. not even sure that its good enough to beat gsw.

Players who rupture their Achilles don’t have a strong history of returning to full strength. A 2013 research paper published in The American Journal of Sports Medicine found that of 18 NBA players who ruptured their Achilles over 23 seasons, only eight returned to play for longer than one season. A player of Cousins’s caliber is naturally likely to return to the court, but those that do make it back onto the court have mixed results. Players like Elton Brand and Wes Matthews were never the same after returning. Isiah Thomas suffered a ruptured Achilles at age 32, then retired. Dominique Wilkins also had the same injury at age 32, then played until he was 39 and was named to two more All-NBA teams.

Interestingly, the study found that 29 years old was the average age a player ruptured their Achilles. Cousins is 27. Nonetheless, the study found that 17 of the 18 players saw their minutes decrease after returning. While the sample size for football is small, NFL players have seen a similar decline in both opportunity and production.

Every player has his own story, but history proves worrisome.

also theyd have to let capela walk, maybe theres some sort of anderson gordon capela trade that cld interest the cavs but im not sure what exactly the rules are around trading capela who is a restricted free agent is in that situation

Crabtree did his Achilles pretty young and has been m/l the same. Horrible injury tho.

like $30m+ in not young complimentary player contracts prob isnt what the cavs are looking for if they loose bron

oh im not saying they would do that, but that is one of the few ways it could happen

maybe the cavs cld be convinced to do some sort of deal with a signed and traded capela, and the rockets cld prob move gordon easily to anyone but that anderson contract is def a bit of an albatross thats gonna be hard to unload

honestly think the rockets wld be better off sticking with their current team and praying for someone on the dubs to roll an ankle
