like $30m+ in not young complimentary player contracts prob isnt what the cavs are looking for if they loose bron

lag∞n, Saturday, 27 January 2018 18:23 (six years ago) link

oh im not saying they would do that, but that is one of the few ways it could happen

Men's Scarehouse - "You're gonna like the way you're shook." (m bison), Saturday, 27 January 2018 18:27 (six years ago) link

maybe the cavs cld be convinced to do some sort of deal with a signed and traded capela, and the rockets cld prob move gordon easily to anyone but that anderson contract is def a bit of an albatross thats gonna be hard to unload

lag∞n, Saturday, 27 January 2018 18:28 (six years ago) link

honestly think the rockets wld be better off sticking with their current team and praying for someone on the dubs to roll an ankle

lag∞n, Saturday, 27 January 2018 18:29 (six years ago) link

the way i break it down is durant to warriors only happened because of the sudden jump in the cap creating an opening that lasted exactly one season and now everybody is tearing their hair out trying to match the warriors when the CBA situation has resettled and made it v difficult to replicate that process. which is why the warriors should be broken up by adam silver.

capelas rapid improvement has him on a trajectory towards being a star player too

lag∞n, Saturday, 27 January 2018 18:31 (six years ago) link

the less horrible thing that ppl should hope for is that the warriors wont be able to afford mega luxury tax once klay and dray seek mega pay xp

Men's Scarehouse - "You're gonna like the way you're shook." (m bison), Saturday, 27 January 2018 18:31 (six years ago) link

Currys contract and dray/klay getting locked up under value we’re just as big of reasons xps

fgti spinner (Spottie), Saturday, 27 January 2018 18:32 (six years ago) link

which is like 2 years away lol

xp

yeah that too!

interesting segment in that lowe-windhorst pod abt how legalized gambling cld lead to another cap spike, next cba they sld really agree to just denominate salaries as a % of the cap

lag∞n, Saturday, 27 January 2018 18:32 (six years ago) link

basically this warriors squad cannot be beat via arms race

cmon a perfectly timed rolled ankle isnt that horrible, i mean the rockets cld have a shot at beating the dubs with an injury that doesnt even knock a player out a la steph the year they lost to the cavs

lag∞n, Saturday, 27 January 2018 18:34 (six years ago) link

oh yeah i know, im not saying hoping for an injury makes u hoops hitler, but all things being equal i'd rather beat a team full strength than not

Men's Scarehouse - "You're gonna like the way you're shook." (m bison), Saturday, 27 January 2018 18:37 (six years ago) link

anyway, lebron to spurs has been confirmed by woj*

*wonderings of j'boy

injuries are part of the game man, and just to be clear im not rooting for it, but the rockets as a professional franchise have to factor the possibility into their thinking

lag∞n, Saturday, 27 January 2018 18:39 (six years ago) link

one thing I was unclear about wrt that gambling segment on the lowe pod -- why does the NBA have the leverage to push for a 1% tax on all bets? does the NBA have to approve of its games being bet on or something? they arent the government iirc

k3vin k., Saturday, 27 January 2018 18:40 (six years ago) link

yeah good question idk maybe they do have to agree in order for the sportsbooks to use their trademarks or something

lag∞n, Saturday, 27 January 2018 18:41 (six years ago) link

alert we are very close to m gasol demanding a trade

Grizzlies GM Chris Wallace announces in email moments ago to MVP season-ticket holders that Mike Conley will require season-ending surgery "to smooth a small bone protrusion" in his left heel. Conley is expected to make a full recovery ahead of training camp.

or maybe its just a deal to prevent the nba from mucking the whole thing up in court for years xp

lag∞n, Saturday, 27 January 2018 18:52 (six years ago) link

yeah i think it’s like “we’ll give this our blessing and not fight it legally, publicly, in congress etc for years”... 1 percent seems like a pittance really

J0rdan S., Saturday, 27 January 2018 18:56 (six years ago) link

that theory that the jersey patches were intended to be bought by sportsbooks all along in order to encourage a new category of in game betting was fun

lag∞n, Saturday, 27 January 2018 18:58 (six years ago) link

i’m a little optimistic about demarcus’ recovering from the achilles only bcuz his game isn’t that predicated on athleticism and explosion. he sort of morphed it into that over time but even if he was just a bully in the post with a pretty good three point shot that’s still a really good player probably.

J0rdan S., Saturday, 27 January 2018 18:59 (six years ago) link

also i think it would be worth losing capela and ariza and whoever else to get lebron

cp3-harden-bron-pj tucker is about as close as anyone in the league could get to four players who could stand up to steph-klay-KD-dray

J0rdan S., Saturday, 27 January 2018 19:01 (six years ago) link

pj tucker huh

lag∞n, Saturday, 27 January 2018 19:02 (six years ago) link

also worth noting that the harden-capela duo has long term viability past the warriors window, where bron-paul is strictly short term

lag∞n, Saturday, 27 January 2018 19:07 (six years ago) link

i do think bron will still be good for a long time tho his ability to dominate will slip, maybe the move is to let cp3 walk and sign bron

lag∞n, Saturday, 27 January 2018 19:13 (six years ago) link

lol the suns are fn incorrigible

Suns fans: Here's the story on my interview with McDonough. The big news: Phoenix's timeline is being moved up and Suns will be aggressive in free agency this summer. https://t.co/yyr8MYkghh
