Narkopop has been hugely influential on the way I think about making music (as a noodling bedroom producer). It’s a beautiful record.

I said I expected GAS to be minimalist but there's quite a lot of textural detail, feels like you're all itching for a pile-on in the wake of scrootgate

however, as the gloves are off: the xx are proper shit

the XX album is fine but I didn't go back to it much

to their credit, they actually did switch up their sound for this one. but yeah, i never felt compelled to listen to it

another good album from them - Say Something Loving and Replica are two of their very best songs and they successfully opened up their sound. it's a really nice summer album

Loved that album. Their concert at Roskilde this summer was stunning. Still don't get why they don't have legions of copycats.

and it's structured so well, there's a clear emotional narrative in the way the invitingly open first half accumulates, melancholy toppling over into anxious joy (joyous anxiety?) w the mariah carey sample, and then digs a tunnel w the groove until returning full circle, changed, in "pt. 2"

still love romy's singing and the very direct and simple way it conveys romantic yearning, but whatsisface has got the worst voice in pop since that guy in the lighthouse family and has all the affecting pathos of a dirty sock

Octo Octa is a great album I did not spend enough time with last year

the front cover of that album is exactly what i think of The XX. Sort of reflective, blurry and nothingy - going for high-concept but also being a bit 'so what'

OO seems like decent house, not that I know what decent house is at this point

Been listening to the Octo Octa from the tracks poll a lot this week. Will definitely check out the album.

I liked Ears. I listened to this once but through my phone speaker while playing Earthbound. It sounded nice. Like Ears but with more words

it's not as good as the Earthbound soundtrack

this won't make sense to anyone else but this album sounds like the music they had in the lego bionicle flash animations (not a bad thing)
