Lorde and Paramore adjacent = very appropriate. They are both in the 70s on my EOY list, solid albums boosted by half a dozen very good songs.

Forgiveness is so great also, the subtle rhythmic shift from the verse to chorus gets me every time

After Laughter was my number one. A perfect album!

"rose-colored boy" and "tell me how" are my favs. chorus on "rose-colored" is super scritti politti imo though i say this about everything i like

I didn't really like Paramore before this, but the new album is fun. Apparently it was a big flop, which is unfortunate. Lots of very catchy tunes, but I don't always love her Katy Perry-esque habit of overenunciating everything.

My favorite track is actually from late in the album: Caught in the Middle. I also admire the way Idle Worship successfully manages to have very Christian lyrics in a mainstream pop setting. Puritan poet Edward Taylor might have appreciated some of the humor.

listening to this for the first time now, it's really nice!

I probably listened to "Tell Me How" the most often on account of having it on loop during late-night walks

The Dauwd album isn't in the list because it's completely generic and forgettable.

Paramore album is incredible and the last 3 tracks are a perfect run

Kelly's album has the finest production this year front to back imo

great album, wasn't expecting it to get so high. has the same feeling as Visions

didn’t really enjoy this one at all iirc

I wanted to like this album more than I did. Lucid was the big standout for me. Nothing else quite hit me the same way.

Kelly Lee Owens album is fantastic. Sonically, it would be fitting if Slowdive is up next.

Voted for all three Kel's and Paramore, happy but not surprised to see them place deservingly high.

I've given this record several plays and it always comes across as watery and nondescript. Like it's never unpleasant to listen to but there's nothing to draw you in either.

the paramore album should've been on my ballot but i overlooked it somehow. their best songs are refined and as tightly constructed as great dance music, each element locked in and in response to another, and it's just relentlessly catchy. the bright, african-inspired guitar lines come across as genuinely exuberant when the wrong context could've made them seem precious.

I've given this record several plays and it always comes across as watery and nondescript. Like it's never unpleasant to listen to but there's nothing to draw you in either.
