I enjoyed Peasant a lot throughout the year but it resonated with me most on the first listen, wandering through an eerily quiet and unfamiliar part of town on a pleasant summer morning (this was before the point I got lost in some overgrown woods near the five-a-side football centre while trying to find a way onto the canal towpath - that stretch of the journey was soundtracked by Life's Rich Pageant).

track two sounds like akron familie fronted by the world's angriest guitar player

(it's not bad though, i'm going to spend more time with the album and stop zinging it)

6 number ones is pretty impressive

the only thing i've ever heard was "the vile stuff," which was impressive, but in such an OTT way that i didn't seek out his other stuff

it hard to find good points comparison tbh but I did find myself thinking about a more benign comus and also sometimes gorkys at their most folksy (mainly for the rustic choiry singalong bits)

i wonder if there's a 'richarddawsonfan' like there's a 'taytayfan'?

Can only speak for myself but it was almost 7

It would have had 7 if I voted.

I first heard Ogre while walking through a rural setting and I was all but running into the trees at the joy of it. Then the rest of the album came and it was everything I wanted and more - Dawson applying his unearthly talents to melodically twisty psych-pop, with a weird little band making all sorts of noise behind him. And every track is so beautiful. I think he's one of the greats already

Every track is seared into my brain. Even the little ones like Prostitute feel like the earth spinning

He has infinite command of narrative
