Still hoping seandalai will post some of our ballots, but in the meantime, I want to mention a late entry on my ballot:
Tomoko Sauvage – Musique Hydromantique
It is very spare with a heavy emphasis on ambient drone, along with metallophone (real or synth--I'm not sure). If you sometimes like following an extended tone as it decays, you may like this. Definitely a favorite from among the more ambient things I've listened to this year (and I think I've heard a bit, thanks to ILM recommendations).

Felt like during the countdown hardly anything I voted for placed, but apparently 9 did which is good odds. Most disappointing is Mountain Goths getting 78'd - an ambitious album with some really really strong highlights. I felt like Ibibio Sound Machine should have placed higher, but as with their previous one, I locked into one song (Give Me A Reason) and just played it to death.Wasn't expecting my number one to place. I put it there simply because it became a go-to record for at least the first 6 months of the year. I'd put it on any time I didn't have anything else to listen to, and just got to know it really well. Shout outs to the sole other voter.People who like big, dancehall-inflected electro should check out both the Still and Errorsmith albums. Just gobsmacking. Equiknoxx too, but it's not everyone's cup of tea.

This is what was on my ballot. It was ranked, but this is not the exact order. I was making a lot of quick last minute decision, so I don't remember the actual ranking, but it wasn't that far from this:
Melkbelly – Nothing ValleyDauwd – Theory of ColoursRoss From Friends – You’ll UnderstandCamille – OUÏCharlotte Dos Santos – CleoNadah El Shazly – AhwarMatthew Shipp Trio – Piano SongOcto Octa – Where Are We Going?Lowly – HebaSudan Archives – Sudan ArchivesJustin Adams – RibbonsLaura Marling – Semper FeminaSunny Sweeney – TrophyParamore – After LaughterMusica Secreta – Lucrezia Borgia’s DaughterAriwo – AriwoDJ Seinfeld – Time Spent Away from YouThomas Demenga – J. S. Bach: The Six Cello SuitesTomoko Sauvage – Musique HydromantiqueKelly Moran – BloodrootZsofia Boros – Local ObjectsAuntie Flo – Soniferous GardenVarious Artists – Digital Zandoli 2Jo Harman – People We Become
I've never really gotten into Bach's cello suites, but I think the timing was right for this particular ECM recording of them. I will have to go back to other performances, eventually.
Kelly Moran and Tomoko Sauvage go together to an extent. Kelly Moran is prepared piano (etc.?) which I thought was prepared harp, for some reason, so some interesting preparations there. Hints of the original gamelan inspiration for prepared piano. The Tomoko Sauvage album begins with metallophone (or synths that sound like metallophone).
And I like (some) lo-fi house a lot, whether it's cool or not.
Campaigning after the fact.

Ariwo is something I found on lex's year end list. First impression was that it was kind of fourth-worldish, but with more of an authentic Latin horn sound. That turns out to be care of veterans from major Cuban groups:
Ariwo are a Cuban/Iranian four-piece focused on intersection between electronic and ancestral music. The band brings together Iranian electronic composer POUYA EHSAEI and three of London’s most influential Cuban musicians; Irakere's Latin Grammy winning “percussion virtuoso”, HAMMADI VALDES; Sierra Maestra lead trumpeter, YELFRIS VALDES; and godfather of London’s Cuban scene, ORESTE NODA.

― _Rudipherous_, Friday, 2 February 2018 17:46 (six years ago) link
Rudipherous those aren’t either synths or metallophones on the Tomoko Sauvage record, it’s far cooler than that:
Musique Hydromantique is the second solo album by Tomoko Sauvage archiving many years of her performance-based practice on the waterbowls – the natural synthesizer of her invention, composed with porcelain bowls filled with water and amplified via hydrophones (underwater microphones). While her first album Ombrophilia (released on and/OAR in 2009) was studio-recorded /composed work, Musique Hydromantique is about experimentation and improvisation with the environment – acoustics affected by the architecture, temperature, humidity and the human presence. For more than ten years, Sauvage has been investigating the sound and visual properties of water in different states, as well as those of ceramics, combined with electronics. Water drops, waves and bubbles are some of the elements she has been playing with to generate the fluid timbre. Since around 2010, hydrophonic feedback has been an obsession for the musician – an acoustic phenomenon that requires fine tuning depending on the amount of water, a subtle volume control and interaction with the acoustic space.

I've already posted my ballot upthread. But I would have voted for these LPs too if I'd had 50 rather than 25 slots on my ballot (and some more noms; not all of these were even nominated). I feel the need to acknowledge the excellence of a few of these. 2017 = a good year IMO.
