smh

k3vin k., Wednesday, 14 February 2018 03:41 (six years ago) link

im mad at the cavs for making cool trades

lag∞n, Wednesday, 14 February 2018 03:50 (six years ago) link

i remain incredulous at all the incredible stuff they threw together at the last minute

Clay, Wednesday, 14 February 2018 03:51 (six years ago) link

in zach lowe pod w/ howard beck he was saying the team just like makes sense compositionally again which is what shined thru to me in the game on sunday even if it was clear they wouldn't always play that well. it just looked like they had the kind of players you want to have around lebron.

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 14 February 2018 03:54 (six years ago) link

getting a guy like nance who can credibly play center vs most lineups but can also run the floor was very savvy. and just getting younger and faster.

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 14 February 2018 03:55 (six years ago) link

yup he killed the thunder tonight w just flat out hustle

they call me melo gelo (Spottie), Wednesday, 14 February 2018 03:58 (six years ago) link

feel like there are still some ppl out there saying nance isn't that good who are going to have trouble backing up that opinion

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 14 February 2018 04:17 (six years ago) link

i'm still really impressed by the trades, i mean maybe this is damning w/faint praise b/c i know they took clarkson's money and gave up a pick but they moved 6 players that weren't helping them. yeah the fact that they had those players to begin with isn't a great thing but for a capped-out team with no flexibility they did as good as you could do

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 14 February 2018 04:20 (six years ago) link

people were down on clarkson too but ive always liked him. they were both on a crap franchise that didnt know what to do w them. thyeve been trying to trade clarkson ever since he broke out.

they call me melo gelo (Spottie), Wednesday, 14 February 2018 04:21 (six years ago) link

even if all the moves did was reinvigorate lebron then mission accomplished.

they call me melo gelo (Spottie), Wednesday, 14 February 2018 04:22 (six years ago) link

as a lifelong procrastinator and underachiever, i applaud these cavs for getting their shit together right before the end of season project is due

LeBron seems super invigorated now and even just in interviews his mood is like Scrooge on Xmas morning. Enough so that maybe he sticks around Cleveland? Idk, for all his drama he doesn't seem apt to abandon the franchise a second time as readily as he did before. The postseason will probably be the determining factor. How well they compete and all...

Hood seems very good maybe....? I was only watching the box score tonight tbh.

omar little, Wednesday, 14 February 2018 04:43 (six years ago) link

the knocks on hood are basically health and fortitude which are very real things but if he goes on a streak of being available it will be interesting.

as much as i'm loathe to cite bill simmons for real facts he has outlined a compelling case for lebron to the lakers. if that doesn't happen (and it seems like it's delicate at best) i can't find a better option than back to cleveland.

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 14 February 2018 04:46 (six years ago) link

if they can talk lebron into sticking around and maybe flip the nets pick + some of the new guys for a big piece they're prob still at the top of the EC for a few more years

Clay, Wednesday, 14 February 2018 04:51 (six years ago) link

yeah that has to be their angle

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 14 February 2018 04:52 (six years ago) link

i can't find a better option than back to cleveland.

take below market value to play w cp and harden

they call me melo gelo (Spottie), Wednesday, 14 February 2018 04:53 (six years ago) link

i don't think he'll take below market and we would need to find a stronger word than shallow to describe that team.

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 14 February 2018 04:55 (six years ago) link

ok but lebron to spurs is confirmed tho

Men's Scarehouse - "You're gonna like the way you're shook." (m bison), Wednesday, 14 February 2018 04:56 (six years ago) link

the negative things about the trades that ppl have brought up just weren't that big of a deal to me. like clarkson's money... if bron leaves then what does it matter you need to pay somebody. if bron comes back his contract would be movable after a year probably if you wanted to get rid of him. giving up their own first round pick in that deal was more of an issue but given how desperate they must have been to break up that team and how intractable the trade market seemed it's not the end of the world.

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 14 February 2018 04:56 (six years ago) link

I feel like in the abstract there's a very good case for the Lakers and Rockets but at the same time I think Lebron was more stung by announcementgate than he already let on, I mean he played angry but I also think he loves his hometown enough that whatever the franchise issues are I'm not sure at this point that he's halfway out the door.

omar little, Wednesday, 14 February 2018 04:58 (six years ago) link

all the stuff about lebron playing for the lakers makes 100% sense to me... i buy it totally. i just don't see why he has to do it this year. he could take 1+1 contracts for the rest of his career and pick his spot every offseason if he really wanted to. i feel like he's much more likely to sign a 2 year deal w/ a team that has actual players and then see if the lakers look better in 2020 or w/e.

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 14 February 2018 05:01 (six years ago) link

to expand on that, played angry bc he was pissed about the reaction back there and being branded as a traitor, but he also deep down was maybe a bit regretful somewhere. Idk.

omar little, Wednesday, 14 February 2018 05:02 (six years ago) link

i think i've said it before but narrative has been a huge component of lebron's other moves and as much as he's interested in winning there's just no narrative component to going to houston or philadelphia or whatever else people talk about.

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 14 February 2018 05:02 (six years ago) link

The only one who knows for sure is Mr. Snrub

omar little, Wednesday, 14 February 2018 05:03 (six years ago) link

i think he also views himself as too young and good to be a mercenary--like wherever he goes he's going to want to be the guy

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 14 February 2018 05:03 (six years ago) link

moreso than anything i think being in the east is the biggest thing. if he was a pure mercenary you could make the argument that like half a dozen teams in the east offer better situations than the cavs but he'd prob just re-sign.

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 14 February 2018 05:07 (six years ago) link

In that scenario the Lakers would make the most sense. I actually think Lavar is a wild card though.

omar little, Wednesday, 14 February 2018 05:08 (six years ago) link

xp he'd be a nice fit playing the 4 on the celtics : )

if the lakers were unwilling to ship lonzo out on demand they are very dumb.

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 14 February 2018 05:10 (six years ago) link

so it turns out that its really hard for the spurs to win games when their three best players are out

Men's Scarehouse - "You're gonna like the way you're shook." (m bison), Wednesday, 14 February 2018 05:52 (six years ago) link

its fucked up, im beginning to think they wont win the finals this year

this spurs year is super weird

3-10 in the east is tight

that jazz winning streak is ridiculous

Spurs have had their entire lineup available for one game this season. San Antonio has missed a total of 166 games due to injury and have used 19 different starting lineups.

thing with the Lakers/LeBron that still makes me think it won't happen is the post above: why willingly go to the West looking at that? esp since it's not like, for example, what Jimmy Butler saw with the Wolves in terms of if they plug me into this it almost has to be pretty good, the Lakers seem so undefined

It's not delivery, it's Adorno! (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Wednesday, 14 February 2018 13:50 (six years ago) link

whether it's narrative or "lebron owns a home in LA" or championship opportunities or other reasons it has never made much sense imo for lebron to go to the lakers. idk it's like this rumor materialized out of thin air and it's not clear to me why. the reasons offered don't really hold up to much scrutiny

marcos, Wednesday, 14 February 2018 14:34 (six years ago) link

obv smarter and more knowledgable people than me think it is a likely move for lebron so what the fuck do i know. still.

marcos, Wednesday, 14 February 2018 14:34 (six years ago) link

id bet on bron staying in cleveland now particularly considering they can swing another big deal before the draft with that nets pick... unless dan gilbert doesnt want to do it because he doesnt want to pay the repeater tax and actually he wants bron to leave

lag∞n, Wednesday, 14 February 2018 15:24 (six years ago) link

i mean most of the these guys + bron and paul george is not better than the cavs + dre jordan or whoever and its certainly not better than the warriors or rockets, ie lakers dont get out of the second round with bron
