Sane's been the key to all three goals, just gliding through them.

Matt DC, Thursday, 1 March 2018 20:22 (six years ago) link

I reckon it could be 6-0 here. Citt too good in the final third without even putting the pedal down

Did a lot of ppl already leave? Stadium is half empty on the long sides.

LOL missed penalty now.

Ara jaysus an arsenal goal would've made things a bit interesting

well bissogled trotters (Michael B), Thursday, 1 March 2018 20:59 (six years ago) link

58,000?

Where have they plucked that from?

groovypanda, Thursday, 1 March 2018 21:37 (six years ago) link

Incredible that the team one place below Arsenal hasn't won a single game in twelve matches.

Wag1 Shree Rajneesh (ShariVari), Friday, 2 March 2018 10:30 (six years ago) link

Most competitive league in the world etc.

Buff Jeckley (Tom D.), Friday, 2 March 2018 10:31 (six years ago) link

I still don't get how Everton are 9th because iirc they only lose.

Google Atheist (Le Bateau Ivre), Friday, 2 March 2018 10:39 (six years ago) link

Stop underrating Sean Dyche.

Matt DC, Friday, 2 March 2018 10:39 (six years ago) link

He doesn't need to win games to be good.

Matt DC, Friday, 2 March 2018 10:40 (six years ago) link

Dyche is the first guest on Joey Bartons new podcast (Alistair Campbell is the second, i forget who is third)

anvil, Friday, 2 March 2018 10:45 (six years ago) link

Last time I heard Joey Barton on the radio he was co-commentating an Everton game on the radio, banging on at length about how much he hated David Unsworth, until the main commentator had to shut him up by reading out the various bookies betting odds

But doctor, I am Camille Paglia (Bananaman Begins), Friday, 2 March 2018 11:04 (six years ago) link

he's just too real for lamestream sports media

the barton-dyche podcast was pretty interesting I thought despite barton's failure grill him on his worm-eating days

my brother pointed out it's a real shame it isn't called Barton Finks

Sir Clive Woodward. Truly a podcast for the gentleman sports fan.

Matt DC, Friday, 2 March 2018 12:14 (six years ago) link

What's Woodward's connection with Burnley though?

Buff Jeckley (Tom D.), Friday, 2 March 2018 12:24 (six years ago) link

58,000?

Where have they plucked that from?

Attendance figures are for tickets sold (including season tickets), not how many people actually turn up

Kieron Dyer on the True Geordie podcast is good. Thought he would be pretty unpromising as a guest (especially compared to Shaun Attwood and Robbie Williams), but its interesting!

anvil, Saturday, 3 March 2018 11:21 (six years ago) link

I heard him talking about his dust-up with Bowyer the other day. It reminded me of that strange parallel universe where dirty Leeds were still in the top flight, and O'Leary was often imploring people to "leave his young side alone".

calzino, Saturday, 3 March 2018 11:33 (six years ago) link

Dirty leeds messy leeds you can sleep in those sheets leeds

(robot gives Mum a hot dirty slap) (Bananaman Begins), Saturday, 3 March 2018 11:38 (six years ago) link

I didn't know woke Bowyer had took anger management and abandoned racism, you'll be telling me he has stopped taking bare chested selfies posing with a fish next!

calzino, Saturday, 3 March 2018 11:45 (six years ago) link

the day Leeds got relegated from the Prem, we had some fun bantz with a load of Leeds scum on the train. We'd just had a L2 playoff win in Lincoln and they'd just suffered an arsekicking at Stamford Bridge. It's hilarious that they still haven't been back in the bigtime since then. A real tonic in these tough times!

calzino, Saturday, 3 March 2018 11:57 (six years ago) link

I thought Mansour's crew would have been better off buying Leeds than city, long term.

Dyer comes across alright, considering the negative view of him. True Geordie podcasts are LONG, but it means the guests get more into stuff properly than they would normally

anvil, Saturday, 3 March 2018 12:25 (six years ago) link

Someone told me Leeds is the biggest city in Europe that hosts only one football club. Which makes their attendances pretty tinpot tbh. But yeah, they could be a real behemoth at some point, hopefully never!

calzino, Saturday, 3 March 2018 12:32 (six years ago) link

Lucky Leeds, they got the relatively skint Arab investors who were out to make a quick buck.

calzino, Saturday, 3 March 2018 12:35 (six years ago) link

memories of many pub conversations with people explaining to me how fucking massive Leeds Utd are, are coming back to me in waves of pain and hilarity!

calzino, Saturday, 3 March 2018 12:48 (six years ago) link

sleeping giant, one of them dead ones

Under the influence of the Ranters (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 3 March 2018 12:52 (six years ago) link

a pointy drunken Leeds fan once told me that the city is such an important financial sector that the EPL wouldn't allow them to be relegated.

calzino, Saturday, 3 March 2018 12:52 (six years ago) link

looooooool

dutty, dutty Leeds

Someone told me Leeds is the biggest city in Europe that hosts only one football club.

Just mulling this one over trying to work out if it's true. All I've come up with so far is Marseille and Lyon (and I'm not 100% sure if they're bigger and only have one team).

the salacious inaudible (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Saturday, 3 March 2018 13:11 (six years ago) link

I'd love that one to be debunked, but alas it is probably true.

calzino, Saturday, 3 March 2018 13:13 (six years ago) link

Utrecht agglomerate has 500,000 inhabitants and only one pro club.

Google Atheist (Le Bateau Ivre), Saturday, 3 March 2018 13:15 (six years ago) link

Fucking AMSTERDAM only has one pro club!

Google Atheist (Le Bateau Ivre), Saturday, 3 March 2018 13:15 (six years ago) link

It's no Leeds tho

What happened to DWS Amsterdam?

Buff Jeckley (Tom D.), Saturday, 3 March 2018 13:20 (six years ago) link

Kazan only has one team iirc and a higher urban population. Leeds often claims a higher population by counting surrounding areas though.

Wag1 Shree Rajneesh (ShariVari), Saturday, 3 March 2018 13:22 (six years ago) link

I could imagine some spurious counterarguement about greater catchment areas blah blah, watevs your DIV 2, dutty Leeds losers!

calzino, Saturday, 3 March 2018 13:23 (six years ago) link

fans from the heavy woollen district and Calder Valley are traitorous scum and don't count.

calzino, Saturday, 3 March 2018 13:24 (six years ago) link

Lol Tom u old. DWS quit being pro in '72 iirc.

You'll need to have some love outside your town to have a decent fan base. From the relatively short time I lived around those parts I know there's just no love for Leeds once you pass the name sign.

Google Atheist (Le Bateau Ivre), Saturday, 3 March 2018 13:25 (six years ago) link

Used to be a local piss-take about Birmingham City being the club from the biggest city in Europe that's never won fuck all of worth but that's a bit abstruse

Under the influence of the Ranters (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 3 March 2018 13:25 (six years ago) link

marseilles has a larger pop than leeds (850 thou in 2010 to 700 thou today)

I'm afraid a childhood full of Rothmans Football Yearbooks has left me with a extensive knowledge of obscure football teams form every corner of Europe.
