ICYMI Friday

Earlier today, we identified a critical fix to the Bergen St signal and made the call to do repairs during midday, with the goal of preventing a major interruption during the evening rush. Unfortunately, rush hour service was still impacted, and we apologize, truly. (1/2)

the only good thing about the subway is when a local unexpectedly goes express and people with enormous noise-canceling headphones miss it

god forbid that one might ever be called upon to interact with or pay attention to the world at large

Hi friends. I've obtained the MTA's L train shutdown service plans. They can only run three more trains per hour over the JMZ, and will run approximately 12.5 fewer trains total across the East River. This is gonna be really bad. https://t.co/mym8COIIGq

When the NYC subway vending machines go down, there's apparently only one guy who knows how to fix them.

His name is Miguel, he lives in Port Jarvis (3 hrs from NYC), & apparently he likes to turn his cell phone off on the way home.

i know the metro card readers are shitty and temperamental but peoples' behavior with them is so often mindboggling

you cannot whip the card through as fast as humanly possible (it will even tell you to slow down!)
you cannot move the card one millimeter per second
you don't have to wait 10 seconds after the person in front of you has gone through
show some common fucking sense
