Cheri slowly melted down into an alcoholic haze until she was confronted about a few things and then got incredibly defensive (and offensive to Mariko). Pretty immature and trashy for your typical TH member. She's also a Trump supporter and 2nd ammendment nut.

OMG, are you kidding me. I saw that after the show she still won Miss Ala Moana and was surprised. She kind of had hard drug bloat/paralysis going on with her face that I had no clue what was going on.

I always get jolted when I meet a Hawaiian Trump supporter (early last year). But the whole sovereignty/ religious thing it kind of made sense.

Yeah, her voice became more and more gravelly as well... Hopefully she detoxed.

I'm watching those exact Cheri episodes now, and they're interesting to watch knowing all of that. It seems like the alcohol problem is being constantly alluded to without ever being explicitly mentioned (Wez: "I think we all need to be more honest.") The confrontation with Mariko and Taishi seems to come out of nowhere. They're fighting about these secondary issues of who said what to whom, without ever getting at the real problem. Maybe they didn't feel they could do it on camera.

I feel like my japanese becomes so much better when I watch the show. And I only know maybe 10 japanese words.

I am watching the very first series. I like it but am very sad that there is no panel. And the music is jarring (Taylor Swift!)

I started watching Boys and Girls in the City. It’s so awkward! Does it get less cringey?

It's from an incident in Boys and Girls in the City. Uchi is given some expensive wagyu beef by one of his clients. His girlfriend Minori doesn't realize how important this is to him, and she and the other housemates cook it up without asking his permission. He gets very upset with her. The presenters thinks that breaking up over meat is the funniest thing ever.

And it was a multi episode storyline. I was on Uchi's side although I don't know if they had rules for food in the house.

I watch one season of Terrace House and now I'm being solely recommended things in Japanese.

I put Ainori Love Wagon on my list. Hoping it will be as good as TH.

!! I started watching Ainori Love Wagon pretty much exactly as you posted this. I think it has different charms to Terrace House, but it's too early to say quite how.

i think i don't like this show, actually. it's cruel. i don't understand it.

I find it very soothing! But I am not in love with the new season yet. Yuudai probably should not have been on the show.

Ainori turns out to have been great! The Netflix season does all sorts of lovely (and weird) things, culminating in several jawdropping romances and a busload of drama! And there's a whole fifteen-minute informational segment on LGBT in Thailand - clearly the producers sticking it to stuffy old Japanese sexual politics culture

New episodes up. Can we talk about this yet? The vibe has totally changed for the better!

I just started the new ones.
Ami is kind of a drain, eh.
But I think I would find Seina overbearing.

I am also in the middle of watching the very first season of TH so it's weird to simultaneously see the 5 years apart Seina at the same time.

Two things I really laughed at. When Tsubasa? said "hide" when the new person showed up. (I don't know why this made me laugh). And when Seina is asked if she is interested in wine and she said it is her only interest. I kind of want that in a gif.

There aren't very many new episodes! I am about halfway through them.
Seina seems more low key than she did on her first episode and on her appearances on Boys and Girls in the City and Aloha State. The way they have talked about her make her seem like some kind of troublemaker, but that doesn't seem to be th case? And they even said she doesn't fight with other women, which is a relief. What was her deal on her other seasons and the movie?
Regarding Yuudai, I did feel kind of bad for him. He seemed so hapless and I can relate to his avoidant personality, But I don't think I can fault the others for how they were to him. He must have been so annoying and frustrating to deal with, and they probably thought he was just immature, inconsiderate, and oblivious. If there is more to it, I don't think they saw it. It's not really that clear what was going on with him.
Ami doesn't seem to have great social skills, and is maybe kind of oblivious herself, but it was a little obscured by Yuudai's issues. They probably just made each other worse.
I don't really get Tsubasa and Shion.

I am only 30 episodes into the first season ( think it goes on for like 80 epis and the movie) and Seina is totally fine and nice on the show. I think she is just very motivating I think Albert may know more.

Yuudai drove me crazy. I am so glad he's gone although I liked to be bewildered by his laziness and excuses (his conversations with his ex and friends were so cringeworthy.)

As RuPaul would say, Ami rests on being pretty and isn't willing to put in effort.

Yes, Ami seems to expect a lot from others while doing nothing herself.

Maybe Seina was right about the three days, because she has really grown on me. I found her appearances on the prior two seasons kind of off-putting, because she seemed like a busybody, grating, and kind of full of herself. Also, on her first episode here she was like a Real Housewife compared to these other people, but she has really toned it down.
Anyway, I am actually finding her defense of Ami convincing.

I admire how she told Tsubasa that women shouldn't think/talk about themselves that way, after Tsubasa was implying she wasn't worthy of Shion. I don't get Shion at all. I wonder what the gap is between what is filmed and what they watch on this season. They haven't shown them watching episodes of themselves yet?

Seina has a reputation for drinking lots of wine, being 「トレンドー」 (literally "trendy" but meaning playfully dramatic), drinking lots of wine, playing cupid (or "kewpie"), drinking lots of wine, passing along relationship intel, & drinking lots of wine. She's awesome, she's essentially the heart and soul of the TH franchise (can't say too much for fear of spoilers).

S3 of Opening New Doors gets really good, that's all I'm gonna say.

So when I was last in Tokyo I asked one of my colleagues if he watches TH and he said "Nah, that's for college girls."

Imagine my surprise when I check his IG this morning and saw he hosted a party last night where one of the guests was Shion Okamoto from TH Opening New Doors.

This new season of Terrace House is SO AWKWARD. What is going on??? ( I am halfway done with the episodes).

I just had to spoil myself. I don't think I could've dealt with a bad ending this year.

I need to catch up on ONH. I haven't even gotten to the second batch yet.

I am streaming the new episodes now (since I finished the new season on netflix already). Again, the change of music is so jarring.
