Apparently the BBC had Sebastian Gorka on R4 today? Mess.

well, who better to talk about anti-semitism than a guy who's really mucked in and worked at the coalface of hating jews

Of course the electorate doesn't give a flying fuck about any of this.

Buff Jeckley (Tom D.), Monday, 26 March 2018 13:40 (six years ago) link

I tend to agree with Matt DC's view that a 2nd referendum on Brexit is not a great idea, partly because if it is lost, which is quite likely, the situation will get even worse than it is now.

It is odd how many people call for a 2nd referendum as though this is like calling for an end to Brexit, when it could mean almost the reverse.

I also tend to agree with DC that JC isn't that bothered about Brexit one way or the other.

let's cut out the middleman and have a referendum on whether david cameron should be hung, drawn and quartered

some of the Gammon electorate might have mixed feelings about this "how dare that twat pretend to be a racist, mark my words he isn't no proper bloody racist!"

There’s a bit of strife at the home of conservatism about this very thing. Lots of BUT IT ISN’T WRONG TO CRITICISE ISRAEL (which is no less moronic coming from the left, obvs.)

gyac, Monday, 26 March 2018 14:27 (six years ago) link

At the end of the day, & I speak very much as a German Jew here, the reason it is so frequent and possible to blur very legitimate anti-imperialist criticism of Israel with anti-semitic conspiracy theories is because of a failure to use materialist analysis in left-wing politics.

— James Harland (@DJMHarland) March 26, 2018

It seems to me the "failure to use materialist analysis in left-wing politics" is why Corbyn is perhaps not capable of giving the speech that Ben Judah wants, as he could when confidently talking about British foreign policy post-Manchester, or when pushing back against the mob on Russia.

Neil S - Brendan O Neill seems to be spending today defending Cambridge Analytica but I'm sure he'll move on to Corbyn and Jewish people when he works out a way to be against both of them.

Jerkoff Humphrys remarked to Patten earlier "well you were the last governor of China". Maybe just a misspeak but this is often happening and is frequently offensive and shitty, or he is just embarrassing himself. I wouldn't trust him to go on a B+Q trip unaccompanied, lest he terrorise the checkout with his balls hanging out or something "senior" like that.

I listened to most of that 4 hour (!) testimony today. Interesting stuff. I loved when an mp asked Chris Wylie if he wasn’t just a failed Alexander Nix, and Wylie pointed out that he was in the UK on a tier 1 exceptional talent visa so no, he didn’t think he’d failed.

This is a terrific read: https://www.lrb.co.uk/v40/n07/james-meek/nhs-sos

In some ways it fills in the detail of what we know - mapping out what the crisis at both health and care services look like. The ending is very powerful, and its a culmination of the number of angles this piece covered, because it isn't just a matter of funding it properly.

I can't remember Sugar sharing shopped pics of JRM next to Hitler after he was caught attending a dinner hosted by actual real pro-Hitler, Neo-Nazis, but getting into thing is so counter-productive. People tweeting pics of 30's Tories next to Hitler in response to this are complete bloody eejits.
