This story is a Kremlin psyop guys

7/7 is an honest days work

i would never want the emergency-goalie-off-the-street thing to change -- it is awesome -- but it's kind of a weird cop-out?

i mean if a baseball team runs out of pitchers or catchers it's not like they can pull dudes out of the crowd. go tell one of your healthy scratches to put some pads on

mookieproof, Friday, 30 March 2018 17:33 (six years ago) link

love hockey

this was so awesome

F# A# (∞), Friday, 30 March 2018 18:01 (six years ago) link

I know this guy probably gives zero shits and I'm only picking on this because it's the Blackhawks but really? $0? That's shitty. They're getting so much positive PR out of this, I hope they do something for him (beyond free food, games, and a jersey).

https://twitter.com/darrenrovell/status/979777172331261954: What the Blackhawks had to pay Scott Foster, the accountant who was the first emergency backup goalie to ever get ice time. Last night, Foster saved 7 shots on 7 tries in 14 minutes of action vs Jets. CBA states Foster’s deal with team was a “tryout.” pic.twitter.com/aEP5lODZU8

also prob has best selling jersey over last 12 hours

yeah it's a CBA/union/salary cap thing. lame

incomparable leader jonathan toews surely bought him a beer, tho

mookieproof, Friday, 30 March 2018 20:08 (six years ago) link

Toews (or someone else) shoulda slapped on the pads imho, not even kidding in the slightest.

legit sad at Sedin news

i'm thankful for them and they are certainly two of the best

however, i do feel it's a good time for this

To say that the Sedins enjoyed a good run would be a bit of an understatement.

the local politician who gave a speech at my high school graduation used an extended Trent Klatt comparison to describe our school. We weren't the biggest or the most talented, but our hard-nosed grit would get us through. Inspiring stuff.

He of course went on to have one of his best professional seasons - classic Canucks' luck

ain't that the troof

That list kind of sucks. Putting Pyatt as one of the best seems like a stretch, and despite only a limited time there, hansen had some pretty solid fancy stats metrics in his time there, but the canucks being the canucks they decided to move him away.

the best/worst countdown format is completely incoherent

while my dirk gently weeps (symsymsym), Tuesday, 3 April 2018 17:01 (six years ago) link

It was a very confusing and strange read for that reason alone. BUt then added to mediocre analysis

The card was never activated.

No, seriously. They forgot to activate the free gift card they gave away for Fan Appreciation Night.

It's pure poetry.#Sens https://t.co/jdaMlTeU2B

seriously

I want to change my display name (dan m), Saturday, 7 April 2018 23:44 (six years ago) link

I live in Saskatoon and the crash happened in the part of the province where I grew up. Last night and today have been a total punch in the gut. Junior hockey grounds so many small prairie communities: it's a social event, it's funded by local sponsors. And the kids are chasing that NHL dream, hundreds of them riding the buses across the province. Heck, my niece just finished a season of elite Bantam hockey, busing two, three hours to games in small towns. This tragedy has shaken Saskatchewan to its very core.

anyone up for a playoff pool?

Van Horn Street, Tuesday, 10 April 2018 21:14 (six years ago) link

A classmate of mine who was a goaltender in the ncaa told me that yeah, sometimes after games they have those 8 hours drive at night in a snowstorm and he would fall asleep wondering if he would wake up.

Van Horn Street, Tuesday, 10 April 2018 21:16 (six years ago) link

good start ^_^

man, winnipeg is a fun team to watch. they would be perfect if they brought back the blue kick plates like the old western canada teams used to have

Dallas Stars Head Coach Ken Hitchcock announced today his retirement from coaching in the NHL after 22 seasons as a head coach. Hitchcock will remain with the Stars as a consultant. https://t.co/nS095SX4LL

if anyone at the cbc/rogers were interested in reining in don cherry, it would have been done -- by ron maclean or someone else. maclean is hardly a profile in courage, but the real blame belongs higher up the ladder

mookieproof, Friday, 13 April 2018 15:17 (six years ago) link

Can Ken Hitchcock be the new host of a HNIC intermission segment?

They could call it Coherent Coach's Corner.
