my god I rewound and watched that fakeout drop like 4 times

could not believe how bland DRB was was either. I really thought she’d have stayed for a lot longer

I love how the muscle queen whose name I forget was like not even on screen once til the very end

the masseduction of lauryn hill (Stevie D(eux)), Sunday, 15 April 2018 19:27 (six years ago) link

I have two theories on Kameron. 1) He's so hot and so used to standing in one spot with a vaguely distracted look on his face while everyone else around him ogles that he's just too boring for words. 2) The editors of the show are mimicking what every other gay person around him would normally do in his presence: ignore him. Could be a combination of both.

Uppercase (Eric H.), Sunday, 15 April 2018 19:33 (six years ago) link

Yet the thing about Kameron is: those ultraglam looks! The makeup! Maybe she should just be a behind the scenes person?

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 15 April 2018 19:51 (six years ago) link

I think Kameron suffered because the producers don't often get workroom conversation as good as that one between Monique. Monet, and Asia, about British accents. I really enjoyed how much fun they were having.

trishyb, Sunday, 15 April 2018 20:04 (six years ago) link

Kameron is very dull, and he always looks like a dude in a hat/dude in a bathing suit etc
Like his drag isn’t much once you get over his whole ~thing ~

I love Dusty so much more out of drag than in drag.

Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 15 April 2018 20:11 (six years ago) link

Yeah Dusty has personality, Kameron...not yet, at any rate.

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 15 April 2018 20:16 (six years ago) link

I think they just pose him in the corner like a mannequin

Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 15 April 2018 20:26 (six years ago) link

RIght, I guess I'm just saying I don't know yet if that's her or the editors. She could be getting the Kandy Ho edit.

Uppercase (Eric H.), Sunday, 15 April 2018 20:42 (six years ago) link

this was a good challenge for kameron because it was purely based on looks. clearly as a performer/actor she's far behind the real contenders

J0rdan S., Sunday, 15 April 2018 23:37 (six years ago) link

I also keep holding out for Eureka because we’ve gotten glimpses of her sweetness and vulnerability but she is making it really, really hard to like her.

the masseduction of lauryn hill (Stevie D(eux)), Monday, 16 April 2018 12:14 (six years ago) link

Blair's shown a pretty sly sense of humor that you wouldn't expect from someone who looks like a Leave It To Beaver extra.

Meme Imfurst (Leee), Monday, 16 April 2018 16:54 (six years ago) link

Ok, maybe not.

Meme Imfurst (Leee), Tuesday, 17 April 2018 05:09 (six years ago) link

Eureka feels like the very weak link in what's been one of the better seasons in a good while, not so much because her drag is bad but her personality feels so grating and exhausting

boxedjoy, Tuesday, 17 April 2018 07:17 (six years ago) link

xpost -- well, weak link no more?

Kameron shows personality!

And yet more VAAAANGIE!

Ned Raggett, Friday, 20 April 2018 13:30 (six years ago) link

I don't even care how engineered the Vanjie phenomenon is being revealed to be, via its repeated use in the edit. It's still amazing.

Uppercase (Eric H.), Friday, 20 April 2018 13:58 (six years ago) link

I JUST realized what makes Kameron Michaels' runway looks so particularly and subconsciously unnerving. Beyond the hip pads and the breastplates, which we have all come to accept as part of the illusion, Kameron is also wearing a latex piece over her midriff so as to hide her six-pack.

Uppercase (Eric H.), Friday, 20 April 2018 14:03 (six years ago) link

I don't even care how engineered the Vanjie phenomenon is being revealed to be, via its repeated use in the edit. It's still amazing.

The thing is it blew up well before its repeated use and the show is kind of imitating life at this point, even though it was filmed months earlier. Like it was said upthread it has this incredible parallel universe moment and I love it.

LeRooLeRoo, Friday, 20 April 2018 14:29 (six years ago) link

Ru did tweet about Vanjie like about a dozen times one day early on tho. She and/or her producers did somewhat will it into existence. Either that or they decided to hastily edit it into subsequent episodes after they realized it caught on.

Uppercase (Eric H.), Friday, 20 April 2018 14:32 (six years ago) link

Robbie Turner, tho.

Uppercase (Eric H.), Friday, 20 April 2018 14:32 (six years ago) link

Is there any update on that?

I am not sorry about this week's loser. One of the most underwhelming queens whose name I can still remember.

trishyb, Friday, 20 April 2018 17:14 (six years ago) link

So there *is* a way to air guitar in a lipsync against Mayhem and not sashay away.

I think the queens were effectively an ad hoc focus group for Vanjie, and the editors were wise enough to capitalize on it.

I don't get the hate for Eureka, sure she needs constant attention but I don't feel to any exceptional degree. That said, I also don't get how she's gotten into the top in either of the comedy challenges so far, i.e. Cracker was robbed of the win so hard.

Meme Imfurst (Leee), Saturday, 21 April 2018 05:19 (six years ago) link

I wanted Mayhem to go home but Monet's lip sync felt like it relied too much on gags and gimmicks and wasn't actually as strong as Mayhem's?

the masseduction of lauryn hill (Stevie D(eux)), Saturday, 21 April 2018 16:54 (six years ago) link

Neither of them were really good and Mayhem's outfit gave me flashbacks to Coco's pink child doll nightmare in Season 5.

LeRooLeRoo, Saturday, 21 April 2018 18:15 (six years ago) link

monet's lip sync wasn't as good as her previous one but generally the queen who pulls out the tricks/gags wins. pretty consistent formula.

it felt early for mayhem to go home to me but she's not a great actress/comedian and can turn some looks but isn't killing it on the runway every week. kinda hard to keep surviving that.

J0rdan S., Saturday, 21 April 2018 22:18 (six years ago) link

yeah Mayhem hasn't been at the right level of intensity, she's been a bit too in her own head & secondguessing maybe.

I didn't love Monet's lipsync and I kinda though that taking off the pads might have lost her favor with ru but I guess she kept a wig on and her shoes lol.

The mimed motorcycle made me die inside though, as much as Yuhua's air guitar. TWO things we must never speak of again.

but Mayhem did leave us with a gift:
HASHTAG CHOCOLATE JUDD

Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 22 April 2018 00:58 (six years ago) link

I am warming up to Miz Cracker. There's something about her personality I really like. And I really have been enjoying Asia & Monet & Monique & Mayhem, and the subtle push-pull they have with Vixen where it's like she's kind of on her own trip but they kind of want to take her under their wing, like how Mayhem engineered the 'sitdown' with Eureka and Vixen.

Vixen intrigues me. I love her directness but it's clear as day how much of a wall she has up; it's a fine line to walk on a show like this.

Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 22 April 2018 06:22 (six years ago) link

I love Cracker! As a boy she's kind of giving me Salty from AHS Freakshow in a good way. I pretty much love the whole cast really and I think the eliminations have been mostly fair so far (minus Vaangie).
The only ones I find a bit underwhelming are each other's polar opposites. Monet is all personnality but not much in the looks department and Kameron has amazing lerks, but girl is seriously lacking the C.

LeRooLeRoo, Sunday, 22 April 2018 14:49 (six years ago) link

Yeah Cameron is the most underwhelming for me so far

Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 22 April 2018 15:30 (six years ago) link

Really, this isn't the best acting class the show's ever seen. Really wonder how they would've handled "Shakesqueer."

Uppercase (Eric H.), Sunday, 22 April 2018 15:54 (six years ago) link

So we’re getting DragCon panels this Thursday — Snatch Game next week?

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 22 April 2018 16:31 (six years ago) link

The Vixen and Asia's Craquaria thing has been the biggest missed opportunity this season, bigger even than VANGIE.

Twyla Thwoorp (Leee), Sunday, 22 April 2018 17:09 (six years ago) link

yeah i’m bummed they didnt do it

Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 22 April 2018 18:14 (six years ago) link

lol I thought they did do it, but in a colossally bad way.

Twyla Thwoorp (Leee), Monday, 23 April 2018 17:43 (six years ago) link

so veiled so as to be unrecognizable then?

Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 23 April 2018 17:53 (six years ago) link

If Asia was missing cues like the Vixen said she was, then I can imagine that they dropped all the indicators that they were sending up Craquaria.

Twyla Thwoorp (Leee), Monday, 23 April 2018 18:29 (six years ago) link

that they didn't literally play aquaria and cracker made me wonder if they weren't allowed to for some reason, because otherwise................??????????????????????????

J0rdan S., Monday, 23 April 2018 20:42 (six years ago) link

they also said they didn't rehearse so that probably didn't help

officer sonny bonds, lytton pd (mayor jingleberries), Monday, 23 April 2018 20:48 (six years ago) link

"Maybe we should've rehearsed" was the biggest lol coming out of that team.

Twyla Thwoorp (Leee), Monday, 23 April 2018 21:52 (six years ago) link

yeah cmon girls

Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 24 April 2018 01:29 (six years ago) link

Kind of hoping that Eureka and Asia get paired at some point so that we can call them Eurasia O'Hara.

And speaking of Asia, dropping some CFC science here!

Twyla Thwoorp (Leee), Wednesday, 25 April 2018 20:11 (six years ago) link

Glad to see Monet get back into her groove again. Her & Eureka were great, and even Cameron was passable.

Monique making her own outfits every week seems insane to me but gahblessher for having the ingenuity to pull it off. Broke resourceful queens are my favorite.

ASIA omg THAT RUNWAY LOOK
incredible
incredible
incredible
i died

what the fuck is going on with instument miming during lipsync this season. Air trumpet now? 👏STOP 👏 IT 👏AT 👏ONCE👏

Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 27 April 2018 16:52 (six years ago) link

I don't know what it was, but it sure wasn't a trombone (the instrument actually on the track).

Uppercase (Eric H.), Friday, 27 April 2018 16:55 (six years ago) link

Asia's look was amazing, especially considering it's an Ikea hack.

trishyb, Friday, 27 April 2018 17:41 (six years ago) link

My trombone player friend was sitting next to me yelling at the TV "IT'S A TROMBONE!!!" completely offended hahaha

LeRooLeRoo, Saturday, 28 April 2018 13:10 (five years ago) link

Blair St Clair tho <3

Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 28 April 2018 16:29 (five years ago) link

Asia's look was amazing, especially considering it's an Ikea hack.

...and a Pushing Daisies hack.

geoffreyess, Saturday, 28 April 2018 20:31 (five years ago) link

I loved Blair so much. I couldn't help but root for her, looking like she's 12 but being so polished and smart and pleasant. Her story was heartbreaking and I felt like The Vixen and wanted to find that bastard.
