curry sauce is just spicy gravy

I was wondering 'do Bisto make an instant curry sauce?' and of course they do because Real England:http://www.bisto.co.uk/our-range/sauce-mixes/chip-shop-curry

I didn't mean it in a judgemental way snoball, peace to all and whatever gravy you like. But there ain't nothing sophis' about making it yourself ffs!
― calzino, Sunday, 22 April 2018 11:29 (six years ago) link
Cooking with wine is pretty sophis where I come from. Although keep in mind that up until the late 80s 'curry' in this area meant minced beef with a bit of curry powder and sultanas. Maybe put a bit of turmeric in with the rice to be fancy.

the thing about that Chinese "curry and chips" style sauce is that it's obviously really fucken basic but the difference between a great one and a crap one is so huge

"..footage emerged of a mass brawl erupting at Ascot and onlookers were left running for cover as racegoers fought, just one week after up to 50 people were seen fighting at Goodwood."
Reminds me of that bit at the end of The Firm where the bunch of arseholes are bragging that after football they'll go to snooker, darts and the like to cause the same mither. I mean at *horse racing* though, wtf..
― piscesx, Sunday, 13 May 2018 22:42 (six years ago) link
the only people who go to horse racing at those places are city boys and posh boys. if you're in either position you're probably rich enough to get wasted at those drink prices, and probably also have a very high idea of your own superiority. perfect recipe for fisticuffs really.
