Basically, if you hoard AP, she starts generating crit tiles, which then set off cascades, which is absolutely lethal if you have a champed 5*; I have 5Thor at 452 and 3-gem crits off of green or red hit for 4.5K. 4-gen crits hit for 9K. It’s amazing.

what's your main source of 5*s? champing 4*s?

Pulling latest 5*s with my most desired 5* as a bonus hero. It used to be pulling classics with my most desired 5* as bonus hero but the hit rate for 5*s wasn’t high enough to make it worth it; when I just pull latest, I get very close to covering the characters I care about (compare my champed 5Thor or my 3/4/5 Gambit to my 0/2/0 Black Bolt, for example).

I was pulling classics when I was really gunning for 4* covers, which helped me champ a lot of them.

Boosted champed Peggy + boosted champed Mockingbird = lol

I just had a match where I held onto blue until Mockingbird’s passive fired Peggy’s blue for free; I then rotated the unstunned character to the back and fired blue again. Three turns later, all opponents were dead.

After drawing two extra 5* Ghost Rider covers, I decided to champ him. Whee! So far my mmr gets me one 5* not quite fully leveled, one boosted 4*, and high level 3* required, in pvp. I can handle this. I did it to zing my stale-ish gameplay and to speed up pve.

Ghost Rider is my next now that I have an extra cover for him as well. He seems like... maybe not that bad?

4* GR is ok! His black is the fun one but it's not as practical as the other two.

Okoye is finally in latest so I decided to use my 12 pulls to see if I could get one of her covers.

I ended up getting:

Okoye: 1/1/1
JJ: 1 red
Nu-Cap: 1 purple, 2 Yellow

I also got a legendary token and enough CP for another pull, which gave me another black Okoye.

I had zero bonus hero hits.

I’m still boggling.

I think I’ve basically blown my allotment of 5* draws for the rest of the year.

5* life is going well. I can get 575 regularly still in pvp, and pve cl9 is much easier

Amazing luck DJP. I got two Gambit covers in one day a month ago, getting him to 5/2/2, then the game decided I'd had enough 5*s. I've had 10 mostly useless 5* covers since then.

I started playing this again :( God, there are so many 4*'s I don't have. I'm never going to have a playable 4* at this rate.

Patience and bonus heroes are your friend here.

Okoye is ridiculously good, you guys.

I was stockpiling ISO to champ her and got impatient, so I maxed out her level (5/2/5 lvl 435) and her black adds an extra 1168 for each team-up AP you have.

I’m basically running through goon nodes with 2* Storm/2* Magneto, stockpiling team-up AP since Okoye tanks almost everything, then pulling AOEs that hit for 15-25K per target. It’s even worse with any 5* but ESPECIALLY pre-nerf Gambit

So, I am reasonably certain that pre-nerf Gambit's red was not affect by Okoye.

Post-nerf Gambit's red is ABSOLUTELY affected by Okoye. Plus, he makes 3 charged tiles instead of 2 so you can match one if you really need some AP or leave them on the board and watch it stockpile charged tiles.

My current strategy is to let 5Thor get hit until half health, then match team-ups and black so Okoye turns Gambit's red and purple and 5Thor's green into instant death, periodically true healing with Okoye's yellow. I can obliterate practically any PVE node at this point with this strategy.

I am happy with how they nerfed/changed Gambit. His better red means that Black Bolt is no longer needed for charged tiles.

I was enjoying Gambit as a speed-up for AC and I guess he still does that, just not as well.

I leveled my 5* Strange 5-2-5 to 360 and he’s now useful in PVE (esp buffed). With 5* Ghost Rider it’s rainbow. Add AC buffed or not and cruise...

The forum tantrums over the Gambit nerf has been hilarious to read.

I have my 5* gambit parked at 351, 3-2-5, so I don't care. My 5* Thor is still at 2-5-5 and my JJ at 3-3-5 : they're the two I'm waiting on to go for the full 5* transition.

With just one 5* champ PVP is still fine: I hit 900 in the 4* Cap Marvel one & was over 7500 for the season without much difficulty. With the Gambit nerf I think I'll be able to handle genuine 5* mmr with Ghost Rider, Thor, and JJ champed. And Doctor Strange will come along soon too. My Phoenix has been at 13 covers for a long time but she needs a buff to make her worth the bother I think. My Beardo Cap is also at 11 covers but I'm still not sure how good he is.

The character rankings I've been looking at are sort of useless but I'm leaning toward dropping War Machine. I have some other ****s that are supposedly worse but they're way more leveled up (Thing, Electra, Carnage...). Already dropped all the */**/***s I'm willing to part with.

TA Hulk or War Machine. i have ta hulk at level 233 and i only use him when he's required.
Definitely keep blade and captain marvel, they are great.
Black Widow and Valkyrie will drop 5*s at level 280 if you're in it for the long term.

yes. it looks like they're going for a single 4* for each 5* character. the rest drop legendary tokens.

Winter Soldier is terrible, I’d lose him first.

Winter Soldier would be my vote, although as a boosted champ he can be fun if you get the right board.

I drew the last 5Thor cover I needed and went ahead and champed him. He is indeed crazy good. Running two champed 5 stars means that in PVP I basically just see other two champed 5 star teams, but I can beat them without much difficulty. So to anyone still on the fence about champing 5 stars, I'd say do it, at least if you have good ones.

I have 5* Doctor Strange at 5-2-5 so I'm taking him to his max, 435. He makes PVE (level 9) even sillier. I'm now beating the 5* required node 5 times just for laffs.

I just drew my 13th cover for Beardo Cap so I can champ him after I finish with Strange. Then I have Phoenix at 13 covers too, so why not. I need one more cover for Jessica Jones, then I can champ her. The 5* transition is on!

Oh, and I sold my 5* Gambit. He's garbage now, I realized.

Okoye saves almost everyone from being garbage IMO

I am psyched for Kitty Pryde, because the only time in my life I really read comics was during the original Shadowcat years into Excalibur. Lots of the characters in this game are otherwise unknown to me.

I've almost finished re-champing all my 3 stars. I only have three 4 stars with less than thirteen covers now. I veer closer toward pure 5* land (have 3 champed so far plus Doc Strange at level 435).

I did wonder what I was doing with my life a few times when playing this last day of the 7 day Hulk PVE, but then I got 66 command points and I felt ok enough again.

what did you do with 66 command points, just roll for legendaries?

yeah I just drew classics, got 4 stars only but that's fine, champ levels are good too

i'm buying classics every so often but trying to build up to 250CP in case a worthwhile 5* shows up in the store
