imago, Saturday, 28 April 2018 09:46 (six years ago) link

yeah that's been the only dark cloud over the season really. Burton could still go on a run tho.

MK Dons chairman Pete Winkelman says the prospect of being relegated from League One is "absolutely horrendous".

your mullet looks silly, mister!

calzino, Saturday, 28 April 2018 09:51 (six years ago) link

don't want to curse it, but real Wimbledon being above Franchise would seem a massive moral victory.

calzino, Saturday, 28 April 2018 09:56 (six years ago) link

Charlton's glacial rise up the table is classic League 1, where teams whose results seem pretty indifferent but they remain in contention for the playoffs right to the death. Been there before, multiple times.

79-80 was my first season. We were relegated by a mile, so far behind by April we needed snookers, but is it any wonder I’d beg to go every week with this kind of entertainment? pic.twitter.com/ceLN3Jm3wS

I'm not saying non-league pitches are poor quality but we've turned up at St Ives and the ducks will need shooed off before the match can be played.

disgrace from Wolves, Nuno Out.

Birmingham relegation still on but it looks horribly like Reading are gonna let everybody down next week

the vomming of the snark (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 28 April 2018 15:56 (six years ago) link

I always knew Conor Coady would do well and be an influential player somewhere else, didn't realise he was Wolves club captain. For some reason I thought he was a flop at Wolves and out of favour.

calzino, Saturday, 28 April 2018 16:16 (six years ago) link

2 years it took to find his best position, under crappy managers. Nuno turning him into a title-winning sweeper and total rock this season is just one of the great stories we've had.

Danny Batth is still club captain tho officially i think, Coady has been captain on the pitch since Batth isn't making the first team too often lately.

And Gosport survive on the final day. Half their league points of the year came from their last 4 games.

it looks like 5 absolutely crucial promotion/playoff/relegation deciding fixtures today - best league in the world etc. Be an entertaining sideshow for me while Town are getting humiliatingly arseholed by in an exhibition game against the EPL champions.

Whenever I see Neil Warnock the only thing I can think about is the fact his entire hairline is beyond his head's horizon.

Which makes him look like a bald man standing in front of somebody else. pic.twitter.com/3elMOXcis7

a) loooooool

b) i wish it was otherwise but i can't see that cunt not getting a win today and promotion. which as other people have said to me, looking on the bright side, means he'll be unemployed by November. but still :(

Bolton!

Wag1 Shree Rajneesh (ShariVari), Sunday, 6 May 2018 13:24 (six years ago) link

Le Fondre came on as a sub at 0-0 and scored, Forest scored twice in three minutes and Le Fondre has just set up two to make it 3-2.

This morning I realised with a mixture of horror and relief that I will be out of the country when the L2 playoff final happens.

Tim, Friday, 11 May 2018 13:11 (six years ago) link

lol, i've got to juggle between the cov game & eurovision on saturday evening

nxd, Friday, 11 May 2018 13:13 (six years ago) link

I'm going to both the semis (at least I think I am; if we lose the first leg 6-0 or something I'll probably forget about taking the time off work). Somehow this makes the whole winning (or failing to win) promotion seem a lot more abstract and therefore less stressful.

The last time we were promoted (AKA our fourth promotion in 100+ years) happened when I was away too. We were in Paris and I found some pub that was showing some prem football and I thought there'd be a final score or similar but there wasn't. I found out we'd gone up because friends started texting me congrats.

a mystifyingly still-popular variety show of d-list no-hopers in gaudy outfits..............or coventry!!! haha didn't expect that!!

nxd, Friday, 11 May 2018 13:23 (six years ago) link

Likewise! For a bunch of reasons I'd like Cov to get to the final.

Tim, Friday, 11 May 2018 13:27 (six years ago) link

Boring and slightly dumb article about my lot: https://www.theguardian.com/football/the-agony-and-the-ecstasy/2018/may/11/paul-tisdale-manager-arsene-wenger-arsenal

I expect a few more of these as Wenger leaves. Once he does, three of the four longest-serving managers in the top 4 divisions will be at fan-owned clubs. One of those is in the play-offs, one's just got promoted and the other (Wimbledon) has survived its first season in League One. There is an interesting piece to be written about this, I think, but the article I've linked is not that piece.

Tim, Friday, 11 May 2018 16:04 (six years ago) link

"Like in tennis, we lost one set point and now we must be ready for the next one. I expect in a few weeks we are going to be up."

Jokanovic has done it for Fulham now, it seems wrong talking like that before you've even got through the first 2 legs ffs!

calzino, Friday, 11 May 2018 18:07 (six years ago) link

2nd season in League One thankyouverymuch

Blandford Forum, Friday, 11 May 2018 18:48 (six years ago) link

Yeah soz.

Premier League winning manager - bearded
Championship winning manager - bearded
League One winning manager - clean-shaven
League Two winning manager - clean-shaven

The moral of this is ...... obvious@kmflett pic.twitter.com/WC2ATGSPtU

obv that is a pro-beard tweet, but now I'm an established highfalutin prem bigshot - I see it more in an anti-English manager light:P

calzino, Friday, 11 May 2018 22:08 (six years ago) link

I assumed it was pleasingly pro-bald.
