I just realised that Freaky Friday got to #1 in the UK

mfktz (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Thursday, 3 May 2018 14:54 (five years ago) link

Whoa, that Karmin thing....

triggercut, Thursday, 3 May 2018 15:11 (five years ago) link

based on the title I refuse to listen until Brad weighs in

Simon H., Thursday, 3 May 2018 15:11 (five years ago) link

this xtina song is meh but the bukakke happy video makes it way too extra (xtra?)

maura, Thursday, 3 May 2018 18:33 (five years ago) link

The shamelessness of the Karmin lady is really something to behold

JRN, Thursday, 3 May 2018 18:43 (five years ago) link

No one with any sense of shame has any business making pop music.

grawlix (unperson), Thursday, 3 May 2018 18:47 (five years ago) link

damn the Xtina song is a nothing on its own and seems even moreso accompanied by the video

Simon H., Thursday, 3 May 2018 18:51 (five years ago) link

sad to see/hear that xtina song

worst 2 chainz verse ever

ty sux 2

niels, Thursday, 3 May 2018 20:23 (five years ago) link

i don't know who thought this would be a good idea but somehow labrinth, sia and diplo are in a group together and calling themselves "LSD"

monotony, Friday, 4 May 2018 01:44 (five years ago) link

Lucinda Williams, Steve Earle and Dwight Yoakam are doing an LSD tour this year but I don’t think they’re collaborating on an album or anything.

grawlix (unperson), Friday, 4 May 2018 02:25 (five years ago) link

That’s a whole different trip, man

i’m still stanning (morrisp), Friday, 4 May 2018 02:36 (five years ago) link

that's just bad though, not worst

niels, Friday, 4 May 2018 11:43 (five years ago) link

i think it's far worse than the xtina song, which - while certainly chaotic - is a vast improvement on the dross from her last album

monotony, Friday, 4 May 2018 14:29 (five years ago) link

"Red Hot Kinda Love" still sounds great

maura, Friday, 4 May 2018 14:36 (five years ago) link

i wouldn't say i *like* that xtina song but it's certainly more interesting than the lead singles from her last two albums

dyl, Saturday, 5 May 2018 02:08 (five years ago) link

niels, Tuesday, 5 June 2018 12:01 (five years ago) link

I don't think there's anything terrible enough that the "this is the dumbing down of society!" brigade in YT comments can't make me side with.

Daniel_Rf, Tuesday, 5 June 2018 13:07 (five years ago) link

I kind of see why the Ängie track is terrible but I can't completely hate it.

daavid, Tuesday, 5 June 2018 13:17 (five years ago) link

I actually really like the beat on that one, but everything else is bad. Apparently her album is called Suicidal Since 1995 :/

triggercut, Tuesday, 5 June 2018 13:19 (five years ago) link

that song is apparently from 2016...

https://hiskind.com/swedens-angie-on-mental-health-controversy-and-sexuality-in-music/

maura, Tuesday, 5 June 2018 14:02 (five years ago) link

Mental health is another topic usually shielded from pop music and, as a young person myself, seeing someone like yourself addressing mental health feels incredibly refreshed and necessary. Why do you think it is still considered a taboo topic in music?
Suicidal thoughts is my biggest inspiration I think. I think suicidal thoughts are more common than you think and I want people to know that. Things can look so damn sparkly on the internet but behind all that most people are terrified of everything.

maura, Tuesday, 5 June 2018 14:03 (five years ago) link

lol @ that song/video

i’m still stanning (morrisp), Tuesday, 5 June 2018 17:26 (five years ago) link

oh yeah that's def 2016, didn't even check since it showed in my recommended videos (what have I been doing on yt) and just assumed it was new

the song is perhaps not that horrible, just sounds like a very contrived Uffie pastiche, and it def sounds like they did not put in much effort (maybe they should have just asked someone for help with the lyrics/structure, I mean it sounds like something you come up with after getting high or on a night on the town, but then you take that "idea" and work with it) anyway sry for the 2016 derail

Watching this awful video definitely enhances the experience of listening to this awful song.

Police, Academy (cryptosicko), Sunday, 10 June 2018 14:18 (five years ago) link

I think we have a winner ;_;

so tasteless, a fair bit worse than that horrible Albatros single even

niels, Monday, 11 June 2018 06:36 (five years ago) link

oh....my god. that video

monotony, Monday, 11 June 2018 12:41 (five years ago) link

Hahaha, OMG

It makes "Smoke Weed, Eat Pussy Everyday" look like a pop masterpiece in comparison!

i’m still stanning (morrisp), Monday, 11 June 2018 19:13 (five years ago) link

It's a novelty song, what did you expect? There are far worse offenders.

pomenitul, Monday, 11 June 2018 19:20 (five years ago) link

Well I hope they keep being posted here!

i’m still stanning (morrisp), Monday, 11 June 2018 19:23 (five years ago) link

This would've easily won the last Eurovision

lbi's life of limitless european glamour (Le Bateau Ivre), Monday, 11 June 2018 19:35 (five years ago) link

There's worst as in hilariously bad, like this, then there's worst as in indicative of everything that's wrong with the world, like the lil dicky song.

mfktz (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Monday, 11 June 2018 20:17 (five years ago) link

this song is bad but it also rules, in the way all halloween songs do

aloha darkness my old friend (katherine), Wednesday, 13 June 2018 19:05 (five years ago) link

I can't believe I used to like this band. Then again, Suffer turns 30 this year.

grawlix (unperson), Wednesday, 20 June 2018 17:12 (five years ago) link

lmao that it accidentally evokes that "we love our cops" song

How old do you have to be before dressing and acting like a 16 year old becomes an embarrassment? 28 is definitely pushing it.

triggercut, Sunday, 1 July 2018 03:44 (five years ago) link

The question i have is this was make on a real supermarket ? 😂with she walking on the fridges 2:55 and all the random people buying stuff

niels, Sunday, 1 July 2018 13:10 (five years ago) link

There's a fine line, really? I was trying to figure out who Tessa Violet reminded me of, and then when they showed a close-up of her face and I saw the circles-under-her-eyes, I realized I was thinking of Khaela Maricich/The Blow, circa 2006

I like when women who are closer to 30 (or 40) sing about teenage-y shit like crushes, idk, it flies in the face of what is supposed to be expected of women-in-the-public-eye and I liked it when Liz Phair did it and I like it when The Blow did it and I like this Tessa Violet song too (tho not as much as the former artists)

flamboyant goon tie included, Sunday, 1 July 2018 13:44 (five years ago) link

Honestly the five songs off the new Drake album that I heard last night were worse than anything in this thread

Even that Albatraoz stuff has its charm for me, it makes me feel like I'm in a car full of Serbians

flamboyant goon tie included, Sunday, 1 July 2018 13:46 (five years ago) link

Drake is truly one of the pinnacles of eat-what-you're-given normie horseshit that passes for culture atm

imago, Sunday, 1 July 2018 14:45 (five years ago) link

Sheeran being possible nadir, sure, but one among several

post malone and chainsmokers are the twinned nadir

maura, Sunday, 1 July 2018 15:35 (five years ago) link

Yeah I was thinking of them too

imago, Sunday, 1 July 2018 16:51 (five years ago) link
