First of all, I'm glad this thread finally got bumped. Second, haters chill. If you read the first post, this thread is more about Your Top Ten Fave Singles/Albums of This Decade so far. Your entire top ten won't come from the next six months no matter how many riches they burp up. So tell us your fave albums/singles so far. And find me an Aughties metal band as amazing as The Angelic Process.

2. Several songs in one
This represents the worst of mainstream pop.

Wait a minute, Geir. Aren't you on fire for "several songs in one?" Isn't that precisely what "Supper's Ready" and acres of prog are all about?

Surprising to me how little I'm really enthusiastic. Can certainly get behind:

Arcade Fire, Funeral (seems much older; had to double-check it was released after 1999.)
New Pornographers, Mass Romantic
The Mountain Goats, All Hail West Texas
Belle and Sebastian, Dear Catastrophe Waitress
The White Stripes, Elephant

And beyond that, I'm not sure! Maybe the first Man Man record, maybe Widow City, maybe Talkie Walkie, maybe What's Happening in Pernambuco... but much as I liked these records when I got them I haven't really returned to them.

important question: was "Say My Name" this decade or 90's?

Allmusic says it was a single in 2000 but the album came out in 1999.

Man I want to make a singles list, but it's gonna be so tough! There are just a ridiculous number of songs I love from the last 10 years, just in hip hop alone! Not nearly as easy to quantify as albums IMO.

Likely my top pick though, a true all-time incredible classic, is "Le Retournille" by Sébastien Tellier. I hope it gets its due on the ILX poll (was it even on the Pitchfork list at all?)

Messed up. Richard Hawley's disc is Cole's Corner (The Ocean is the first single from it). What a fantastic disc, especially as summer fades into autumn.
