3.17: API changes to support Zing

stet, Wednesday, 9 May 2018 00:38 (five years ago) link

thx also 3.17. Those who are persevering (in misfortune and steadfast in fulfilling God's commandments, and in refraining from sins), and truthful (in their words and actions, and true to their covenants), and devoutly obedient, and who spend (out of what God has provided for them, in His way and for the needy), and who implore God's forgiveness before daybreak.
الصَّابِرِينَ وَالصَّادِقِينَ وَالْقَانِتِينَ وَالْمُنفِقِينَ وَالْمُسْتَغْفِرِينَ بِالأَسْحَارِ

stet what's this bookmark flag link shit and why is it all smooshed together in lagoon.css

don't mock my smock or i'll clean your clock (silby), Monday, 1 July 2019 22:18 (four years ago) link

I’m trying to tidy up the mobile view because it’s messy and those links are too wordy. I fixed the CSS on the most popular sheets, I’ll do lagoon now too.

stet, Monday, 1 July 2019 22:23 (four years ago) link

ooh can i post that to the actual zing thread

damarraghcas.jpg (darraghmac), Monday, 1 July 2019 22:24 (four years ago) link

requesting fix for newold.css

ciderpress, Monday, 1 July 2019 22:57 (four years ago) link

Did the font change too? (old.css)

Screamin' Jay Gould (The Yellow Kid), Monday, 1 July 2019 23:23 (four years ago) link

Yes, it might have done on some browsers -- some mobile browsers were using bad fonts when no font at all was set, so I set one.

Have updated lagoon, newold and the swiss variants so the bookmark links have spacing again.

Also in 3.22: Admins can press "a" while in a thread to get the admin links.

stet, Monday, 1 July 2019 23:49 (four years ago) link

(And there's a new standard-dark stylesheet, still a WIP)

stet, Monday, 1 July 2019 23:49 (four years ago) link

please keep the no spaces on kenandark.css i love it

lumen (esby), Tuesday, 2 July 2019 00:02 (four years ago) link

Also in 3.22: Admins can press "a" while in a thread to get the admin links.

nice!

Manfred Hemming-Hawing (WmC), Tuesday, 2 July 2019 01:37 (four years ago) link

3.23: A fix that lets stylesheet updates override local copies, and a new light stylesheet.

stet, Monday, 8 July 2019 22:51 (four years ago) link

(sorry for the downtime overnight: scheduled maintenance at the hosts)

stet, Tuesday, 9 July 2019 07:58 (four years ago) link

sorry for the downtime overnight

FP'd you for racism (am I doing that right?)

Vernon Locke, Tuesday, 9 July 2019 09:58 (four years ago) link

3.25 Now with MVP (eg a very early but it-kinda-works) ability to choose a font. Choose from a very short list (more to come) at the bottom of the style preference page. Unlike stylesheets, this isn't set per device but applies to all devices.

(Known issue: Be sure to also choose a stylesheet every time you change this option or it won't stick)

stet, Wednesday, 10 July 2019 00:11 (four years ago) link

Nice! Very much appreciated!

stet, Sunday, 20 October 2019 00:50 (four years ago) link

Did this break the font fix (aka in old.css the font just changed again)

Screamin' Jay Gould (The Yellow Kid), Sunday, 20 October 2019 04:04 (four years ago) link

Hm shouldn’t have done - try setting your font in the style sheet prefs again and see if it sticks.

stet, Sunday, 20 October 2019 09:58 (four years ago) link

I just went to prefs and reset mine as old.css and it still has the embiggened font.

Stoop Crone (Trayce), Sunday, 20 October 2019 22:38 (four years ago) link

I mean I dont mind really, but yeah its changed in the last 24hr (using Chrome in Windows 10)

finally checking this out on desktop, it's great! lovely new feature, tons of potential - thanks a bunch stet.

Doctor Casino, Wednesday, 19 August 2020 04:44 (three years ago) link

ah, i like the regrouped bookmarks! it always bugged me that the order was arbitrary; this is much more immediately manageable.

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Wednesday, 19 August 2020 06:29 (three years ago) link

ahh now that i'm on desktop i get it. the hidden text isn't supposed to work on zing (yet), right?

(Update All Bookmarks To Latest Answer (‘Mark as read’) = a lifesaver though, thanks so much)

A Scampo Darkly (Le Bateau Ivre), Sunday, 8 November 2020 11:29 (three years ago) link

I don't get why anyone would want to do that. I bookmark content I want to read. Skipping it is missing out on the thing I want.

Like I'm always reading too many books at once and buying books I might not get round to and it's a niggle that they're all just THERE but moving all my bookmarks to the last page isn't the same as, well, reading them...

Sometimes an Ilxor logs out for several months and wants to clear the board when they return

The Bosom Manor Michaelmas Special (silby), Sunday, 8 November 2020 11:46 (three years ago) link

I've been away a week and have 60-ish bookmarks w/ new answers. Rather than going by them one by one, I prefer marking all read, and then when a bookmark is bumped again while I'm actually here, I'll read and read back what I missed and dip back in again. Without feeling forced to clear 60 bookmarks by hand to feel up to date again.

tl;dr it's complicated but works for me

xp

A Scampo Darkly (Le Bateau Ivre), Sunday, 8 November 2020 11:47 (three years ago) link

I sometimes go away for a while and come back to pages of bookmarks I'm like "a new project! So much to read!"

(I'm also like "what am I doing with my life?!)

stet, Monday, 9 November 2020 12:44 (three years ago) link

Just tried that, and that works (ie. takes me to my bookmarks on iPhone in Safari). But I also just checked zing, and I've my bookmarks back there now, too!

3.48 a change to how Flag Post works: now if you flag more than one post by the same user, we record the most recent flagging. This isn't the ideal solution yet, but it's better than throwing away the most recent flag as we used to.
